Chapter sixteen
Yuta fell hard to the stone floor as he was shoved through the massive doors, pain flooding into his knees, but it was nothing compared to the way his heart hammered against his ribs, every instinct screaming at him to run even though there was nowhere to go.
The chamber was enormous, lit by flickering torches that cast dancing shadows on walls carved with symbols that seemed to writhe in the unsteady light. The air itself felt thick with malevolent power, pressing down on him until each breath was a struggle.
Then he spotted him.
Lord Elrien.
The demon sat on a throne of black stone like death itself made manifest, his presence so overwhelming that Yuta's soul nearly left his body.
This was the demon lord he'd heard whispered about in terror—the creature who ruled through fear and fed on blood. Even at a distance, Yuta could feel the barely contained violence radiating from him like heat from a forge.
