"Ugh! What do I have to do to make him say yes? I'm pretty, sexy, well-off, smart… what else could possibly be missing?"
I grumbled to myself while lying in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
"This won't do. I need to win him over."
> The Next Morning <
I waited inside my car outside his office, holding a lunchbox with his breakfast inside.
As his luxurious car arrived, I boldly got out of mine and waited by the entrance.
When he passed by with his guards, I quickly blocked his path.
"Mr. Tyler Clyde Shrewdly! Hi, good morning!"
I greeted him sweetly, trying to catch his attention.
He simply smirked and continued walking.
I followed him all the way to the elevator, but his bodyguards stopped me from getting close.
"Wait! Mr. Tyler…"
I called out, but they all just kept going into the elevator.
As the doors started to close, I clenched my fists.
"I know that girl! I'll tell her you're still single so she'll chase after you again!"
I said childishly, stomping my foot as the elevator shut.
I sighed and looked down at the paper bag I was holding.
"Useless effort…"
I whispered and threw the breakfast in the trash.
Pouting, I walked back to my car. My phone rang.
"Ugh! I haven't even found one yet!"
I snapped and turned my phone off.
I glanced back at Mr. Tyler's company building, wondering how I could possibly get close to him.
Just as I was deep in thought, I saw her again , Christine.
She stopped right outside Tyler's company.
I immediately got out of the car and was about to approach her, when suddenly four masked men grabbed her and tried to shove her into a van.
"I shouldn't get involved…"
I turned away, hesitating if I should help or not.
I clenched my fists and finally faced them,
but it was too late. They had already entered Christine into the van and were driving off.
I hurried back to my car and followed them.
We drove far from the city, but I think they noticed me tailing them because they suddenly shot my side mirror.
I pressed the gas harder and pulled up beside their van, aligning my car for a counter.
I pulled out my hidden knife and slashed one of their tires
the tire exploded and the van crashed into a post.
I quickly got out, but they unexpectedly started shooting again.
A bullet grazed my arm.
With grit, I grabbed my gun and took cover behind my car.
I was about to fire back when they threw a grenade it blew up my car, forcing me to leap away just in time.
"Hahaha! Give it up, girl! Want us to take you too?"
the leader yelled mockingly.
"Ugh! So annoying!"
They started walking away with Christine again
but suddenly, someone took them down one by one… like a real assassin.
Christine and I were both stunned.
We stared at the masked man who saved her.
Amazed, I walked up to him.
"Wow… you're amazing. B-by the way, I'm Khoeznie Alvarez."
He looked at my bleeding arm, then turned back to Christine.
Without saying a word, he carried her bridal-style toward the main road.
I sighed, left alone, and started walking.
Then remembered… my car exploded.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I sat on the curb.
"Huhuhu!! Why!!"
I sobbed loudly.
Christine came over and gently touched my wounded arm.
"Are you okay? Don't worry, I'll call for help."
"No need... nothing can fix it anymore... My poor Khoeznie car is gone…"
I cried harder, mourning my vehicle.
She blinked in disappointment at what I said, clearly not expecting that.
I quickly wiped my tears and stood up.
"Don't worry, it's just a scratch."
I smiled at Christine.
"Well, be careful next time. You should report them to the authorities."
I looked behind Christine, trying to find the masked assassin
but he was gone.
"Where… did he…"
Christine turned too, confused.
Moments later, a group of police arrived along with a luxury car.
They rushed over to us.
Mr. Tyler came out, visibly worried.
He looked at Christine first.
Seeing she was okay, he then approached me.
Pretending to care, he said,
"Are you alright? You're covered in wounds… Please take care of her,"
then carried me bridal-style into the ambulance.
"You jerk… Just earlier you were brushing me off,"
I whispered as he laid me down inside.
He looked at me sharply and sighed.
"₱1 million per month. Pretend to be my wife. But you follow all my rules."
My ears perked up.
"Seriously? Haha."
I grinned and stared at him.
"Don't worry, even if you don't pay me, I'll follow all your rules. Just introduce let me introduce you to my family."
I said excitedly, while he stared back coldly.
Finally! Dad's going to stop pushing me find a husband now!
