Chapter 7 - AGREEMENT SIGNED

[TYLER POV]

---------

+ CIVIL REGISTRATION OFFICE +

"Is she still coming? Maybe... she's dead already," Kurt said while we were both standing outside the car in front of the registration office.

I pulled out a lighter and a cigarette.

Before I could even light it, I glanced at my watch.

11:43 A.M.

We've been waiting for more than an hour.

"Just send flowers to her funeral," I finally said and opened the car door.

But just before I could get inside, a loud motorcycle approached.

RRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Kurt and I both turned to look.

It was her. Khoeznie.

Injured, the sleeve of her dress torn, and a wound on the side of her lip.

Kurt and I exchanged glances, then turned our eyes back to her.

"Just a moment, Mr. Shrewdly... Sorry I'm late," she said between breaths as we both stood properly.

Where does this woman get her strength from? She's something else, I muttered to myself.

She smiled as if nothing had happened and handed me some papers.

"What's this?" I asked, but she only smiled in response.

"Come on. Let's register."

---

After registering our marriage, she even shook my hand.

Pathetic. Why does she have to be so desperate?

I entered the car, disappointed, and handed her my card along with my contact details.

"Do you need anything else?" I asked coldly, and she nodded.

"Here's your money. Like I said, I don't need anything. I just want my dad to meet you. Do you still have time?" she asked calmly.

I quickly opened the car and motioned her inside.

"Tell me the location. If that's the case, I'll introduce myself formally."

---

We traveled for hours to her house.

The place had a mysterious vibe, quite far from the city.

I still didn't know this woman well. But it didn't matter, I wasn't interested in knowing more.

Their house was big, no doubt they were wealthy, so it made sense she wasn't after money.

When we entered, her staff and a maid greeted us and led us to the dining area where her father was waiting.

They have staff… yet they let her wander around alone?

"Dad, good afternoon. This is Tyler Clyde Shrewdly my husband," Khoeznie introduced me to her father.

"Excellent. Since my daughter trusts you, I will trust you too. Please, sit," her father said as we took our seats in front of him.

"I heard you're a CEO of a wealthy

company, and not much is known about your family publicly. May I ask if there's something you need to confess about your true identity?" Mr. Alvarez asked directly.

I smirked and answered, "Don't worry, sir. My family's record is clean."

He gave me a strange look as if he were investigating me.

"What about you? Is there something you'd like to confess about your family?" I asked back, and Khoeznie cleared her throat.

"N-nothing really. We're just simple human living morally upright lives," Khoeznie replied.

Our conversation continued until the afternoon, and then we said our goodbyes.

We took Khoeznie back to her condo.

"Thank you for pretending. Don't worry I'll do whatever you ask, as I promised. I'm all yours now," Khoeznie said with a grateful smile, and even Kurt couldn't help but stare at her.

She was beautiful, and her smile, despite what had happened earlier she was still cheerful.

She was pitiful, really. She'd only end up being used for my plans.

I ignored what she said and signaled Kurt to start the car. Then we left.
