"What, how did you do that?" She had asked me after I sat back up.
"It's just a healing technique that comes from my inherent skill," I said, looking around at all the people staring at me.
"So you have a healer's inherent skill." The prince from earlier had said
"Yeah," I said, telling my first lie to the group.
"Get to bed, Slaves," A voice from above deck yelled down.
The next morning, I was awoken by the door opening. Someone began to head down the stairs.
"Wake up," The man began to yell out as I got up from the floor, and stood there waiting for the other to awaken, then Sage started to warn me.
Watch out, an Attack from the front left side
As the guard had tried to jab me with his sheath.
"The fuck was that" I had asked looking up at him, but his face was full of anger.
Fuck probably shouldn't have done that I began to think to myself as the guard once again went and hit me but this time Sage did not warn me due to me saying I shouldn't have dodged the first.
"Ouch, the hell was that for?" I asked while I was kneeling on the ground, but that just caused me to get a sword sheath to the face.
Another person came down, hitting the guard in the back of the neck with his hands.
"Stop mistreating the slaves, this is probably their last chance alive, at least make it somewhat nicer," A new voice had said. It was one of the guards they brought to watch over us in the mines.
"Why their just slaves, idiot?" The guy who had hit me said.
"Well, just as easily as they became slaves, so can you, idiot, now do your job." The man had said with a serious face and tone, which scared the other guy back upstairs.
"The name is, Arthur." The man had turned and told me he seemed nice for a guy who was currently making sure slaves didn't leave their slave working fields.
Probably cause he thinks we are all going to die here as slaves, but I for one won't go down without a fight, and won't go down at all. I need to get back to my mother.
He began to slowly go one by one towards each of the slaves, waking them up, and then he began to lead us towards the mines to repeat what we did the day before.
This continued for months until we were running out of mana rocks. I was two-thirds towards breaking through to another mana pill realm, but today is the day.
"Calu, Day 18th of the Shinshi dynasty," I had said, counting up the days towards whenever we were planning to escape. I had mined some stones that we turned into knives, and they were very sharp.
As we all took our knives and made a blood pact, that we either escape or take our own lives, as we walked out of the mines after the day was over, all of us had the stone knives hidden somewhere on our bodies.
But no one came, we returned to the ship, and I saw something that made me think back to my first day coming to this island, The Blood Sea, as we entered the ship and found tons of bodies on board, I saw someone leaning against a wall with a sword wound on his chest looking like he was gonna die.
"Arthur, what the hell is happening on the ship?" I had asked as I walked over to him. he was a kind guy, and even though he helped keep us here, that didn't make him a horrible person.
"I tried my best, kid, but you gotta go, the captain was more powerful than I expected," Arthur had said, seemingly trying to continue to catch his breath.
*Don't tell me, was this his doing? Did he overhear us planning in the mines and decide to betray his people?* I had thought to myself as I saw him begin to look, eyes widened as he looked behind me, He then pushed me out of the way as a sword came down and hit the wooden floor I was standing on.
"Go, get out of here." Arthur had said to me after pushing me out of the way, I looked at the person who swung, and it was the captain of the ship.
"I can't leave you here, you help us," I had said back before having dodged another sword swing, but this one was faster, but thanks to the help of Sage, I was able to just dodge in time, but even Sage said it was best for me to run away.
"You're just a kid, run. I've lived long enough, you have just begun living." Arthur had said as another sword strike was coming towards me, but Arthur jumped in front of me, so that he could die here, and I wouldn't try and save him.
I finally listened and ran.
