Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: The Navy's Retreat

Reid looked up as four cards floated toward him, the system's voice echoing in his mind.

[Momora: A member of the Roger Pirates, likes wearing a tall hat, a swordsman.]

[Ganryu: A member of the Roger Pirates, prefers hand-to-hand combat, a martial artist.]

[CB Galland: A member of the Roger Pirates, a warrior who wields a long blade.]

[Mirai Paine: A member of the Roger Pirates, a warrior from an ancient tribe. Growing a beard is a tradition of his people, and his weapon is a spiked iron mace.]

"I've never heard of these four before, but that makes sense. If I hadn’t saved Roger, we probably wouldn’t have met," Reid thought to himself, feeling more confident now. With their help, there was no need to worry about losing to the Navy.

"More reinforcements? It seems we’re in for a deadly battle," Sengoku muttered, his expression grim as he observed the newcomers. He steeled himself for an intense fight—no matter what, he had to uphold the Navy’s justice.

Yamato swung his sword through the air, sending a razor-sharp slash hurtling toward Sengoku, his eyes burning with battle lust and confidence.

"Sengoku, today I’ll see just what a Navy Admiral is made of! Take this!"

"A mere crewman of the Roger Pirates dares to talk big?" Sengoku countered, throwing a massive golden fist like a cannonball straight at Yamato.

"Hahaha! Sengoku, let me join the fun too! Tekkai (Iron Body)!"

Mirai Paine charged forward like a beast from ancient times, swinging his spiked mace with devastating force.

"Can’t leave me out! Tekkai, Earth Dragon Emperor!"

Ganryu’s fist erupted with a dark shockwave, roaring toward Sengoku’s head.

"Tekkai, Floral Sword Engraver!"

Momora drew his blade, carving a Z-shaped slash midair before launching it at Sengoku.

"Tekkai, Taste My Blade!"

CB Galland roared as he brought his long sword down in a fierce slash.

"Buddha’s Shockwave!"

Reid continuously thrust his palms forward, visualizing the technique in his mind as the system within him subtly guided his movements.

"HAHAHA! Sengoku, so this is all a Navy Admiral can do? Tekkai, Tyrant King’s Fist!"

"Tekkai, Take This Slash!"

Doringo kept harassing Sengoku with aerial attacks.

Sengoku gritted his teeth, forced to fight eight opponents at once. The relentless barrage of attacks pushed him back, explosions of energy erupting around him.

This was humiliating. Since becoming a Navy Admiral, he had never been pushed this far. This operation had mobilized several high-ranking officers with Admiral-level strength—including Garp, a top-tier fighter.

"Advanced Armament Haki!"

Sengoku’s golden Buddha radiance intensified.

In the distance, Roger glanced over, mildly surprised.

"Sengoku, so you’ve mastered Advanced Armament Haki too. Interesting. Let’s see how far you’ve come."

Roger’s crimson eyes flared with even sharper intensity, and Garp was momentarily caught off guard, forced back.

"Roger, you damn bastard! How are you still this energetic?!" Garp cursed.

"Hahaha! Garp, I’m still young. I’ll go play with Sengoku for a bit."

Roger strode forward with his usual carefree swagger.

"Roger, what the hell do you mean by that?!" Garp fumed. Was Roger implying he was old? But there was no time to argue—Roger was already out of reach.

"You little pests, don’t think numbers alone will intimidate me. Low-tier Armament Haki isn’t enough to stand before me!"

"Sengoku, these are my family. I can’t just watch them get hurt!"

Roger hoisted his supreme-grade sword onto his shoulder, grinning as he charged.

"Divine Departure!"

"What?! Roger—Buddha’s Radiant Palm!"

Sengoku had planned to blast away the eight attackers, but Roger’s sudden intervention forced him to redirect his full power toward the Pirate King.

BOOM!

Their clash formed a sphere of concentrated Haki between blade and palm.

The shockwave sent Reid and the others stumbling back.

"Incredible… So Sengoku was holding back this whole time."

Reid was both shocked and exhilarated. If that’s the case, then I must have Advanced Armament Haki now too.

"Heh, Sengoku, you’re still weaker than Garp."

With a final burst of force, Roger sent Sengoku flying, blood trickling from his mouth.

Realizing the battle was lost—and with Roger’s crew growing by the minute—Sengoku knew retreat was the only option.

Ignoring his injuries, he shot into the air and bellowed:

"All forces, withdraw! NOW!"

"Sengoku, you’re not getting away!"

Nodtun hurled a massive punch his way.

"HAHAHA! We just got here, Sengoku. Don’t be in such a hurry to leave!"

Mirai Paine swung his spiked mace menacingly.

"Ne~ The boss gave the order. What a pain~"

"Borsalino, you’re not escaping! Fish-Beast Impact!"

Sunbell launched an attack, but Kizaru had already disengaged, reappearing beside Sengoku in a flash of light.

"DAMN IT!!"

Akainu shot a furious glare at Scopper before—

...his body turned into magma, and in the next moment, he too appeared beside Sengoku.

Similarly, Zephyr also retreated, cursing under his breath. "What a disgrace, damn it."

"Garp, you bastard! How could you let Roger get away?!"

As Sengoku passed by Garp, he roared in fury.

"I did my best. Ah well, if we can't win, we might as well run. Hahaha!"

Garp, in his usual carefree manner, pulled out a dog-shaped hat from who-knows-where, put it on, and dashed toward the battleship.

"GARP!!"

Sengoku was livid—this was an utter humiliation.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The Navy officers swiftly leaped into the air, landing on the deck of the warship.

"Everyone, get up!" Sengoku barked.

The unconscious Marines, previously knocked out by Roger’s shockwave, began to stir.

"What happened...?"

"My head hurts..."

"Full speed ahead! Set course for Marineford!" Sengoku bellowed, his mood at rock bottom.

"Yes, Admiral Sengoku!"

"Don’t run! I just got here and haven’t had my fill of fighting yet!"

Mirai Paine brandished his spiked mace, his beard bristling with aggression.

"Hahaha! Paine, you arrived just in time. I wasn’t planning to keep fighting either—I was just about to..."
