Chigozie POV
The day had just began but I am already wishing night fall, as I drive into the moonstone territory I can feel eyes piercing into me like daggers, I parked in front of the pack's house, I took a deep breath to prepare myself for the stares and whispers, without looking at anyone I walked out the car and went straight to my room locking the door behind me.
The pack house is reserved for the alpha and his family which means I get a room to myself , I was lost in thoughts when I felt someone standing at the door, her aura was familiar. I held my breath hoping she would go away. she tried opening the door and saw it was locked. A fewseconds passed...the doornob began to glow orange. the door creeked open.
Standing at the door was dark skinned girl staring at me her eyes a bright orange her hair was up in a bun, she smiled-- a creepy type of smile --her claws extended before launching herself on me
"Ellie get of me" I groaned trying to pry her off me
"Never you have been busy with work for the past few weeks I haven't seen you in like forever" Ellie said hugging tightly, and no matter how much I try she wouldn't budge, she eventually let go and sat on the bed fixing her hair.
"How did you even open the door it was locked" I said trying to fix myself up and get back ok the bed.
"Ohh, that's? it's a simple unlock rune spell, I can teach you if you want"
Ellie said. Ellie is the daughter of the pack's mage,and is currently training to take over from her mom. Unlike most wolf mages to exclusively train in magic since it's takes years just to master the basic, Ellie is the exception not only did she inherit her magical talent from her mom but also her dad combat skills, her dad is the second in command of the wolf guard after the beta.
"No thanks I don't think I have a knack for magic like you do" I said while replying a message from Ruby, we have been texting all day, mostly debating stereotypes regarding our species and I used that as an opportunity to ask her out on a picnic date...she said yes, I was floating on cloud 9 when I turned to see Ellie looking at me, ginning from ear to ear
"Sooo... Who is she? what's her name? is she from this pack or another pack? how old is she? how did u guys meet? ohh wait-- I already know that your mom told me! wow I'm a restaurant such a classic meet-cute" Ellie said so fast that I almost missed it, but lucky I am already used to it and have figured how to keep up .
"Her name is ruby" I said as i held Ellie by her shoulder
"No screaming at least not yet" I warned.
she nodded still beaming with happiness
" She isn't from this pack...or another pack" I said dragging out the word for dramatic effect
" She is hu-!" Ellie started but quickly caught herself
" Sorry, no talking " she said miming zipping her lips
"Thank you. and no, she isn't human...she is a vampire" I said letting go of Ellie and covered my ear and signalling her that she can now scream
"OMG, vampire are soo hot!" she squealed jumping around the room. Ellie has always had a thing for vampires, most of her relationship were with them
"Is she like the 4fangs" Ellie said referring to the vampire boyband she is obsessed with.
"I have no idea. I don't listen to them" a loud durm beat echoed from outside cutting our conversation -- it was the alpha single, the meeting is about to start
Ellie and I met up with our parents and headed to the podium. The alpha stood in the middle with his family, Luna chika, and their son,tobi by his side
"Good day everyone" the alpha said with his alpha voice which wasn't only loud but commanded silence.
"I am here to address the disappearing that has been happening lately"
The crowed murmured and whispers. Just as the alpha was about to speak the entire forest fell silent once more
"I have contacted other packs and along with their mages and tracker we will find out the reasons for this disappearings, till the mean time no more late night hunts or runs" the alpha said making everyone to shout and protest.
"How do u expect us not to run or hunt under the moon" a voice from the crowd said and everyone shouted in agreement
"I know this is hard on all of us but most of the disappearing happens at night, and even after I reduced the night runs to Wednesday and Fridays, the disappearing still happened, so I have no other choice than to put a temporary ban on night activities" the alpha said making everyone to errupt, the anger was evident in their face and voices, I tapped the alpha if I could speak and say something and he nooded and allowed me to come to the stand. Everywhere became silent except for the whispers.
"I know this is hard, the night has always been a safe place for us wolves to be free, from the eyes of humans and to be closer to nature, but desperate time comes for desperate measure and I bel-" I was interrupted by a voice amongst the crowd
"You are a wolfless wolf, and the son of a traitor, who gave you the right to address us" the voice said and the alpha unleashed his wind power making everyone silent again
" And I believe I can come up with a solution that will please everyone " I said which got the interest of everyone, for a second the hatred was nowhere to be seen
" Since no disappearing has happened close to to the pack house I will suggest we spread the guard to key sectors of the forest, and we should started re-teaching the howl, that way if anyone is in danger or feels they are in danger they can easily alert any wolf nearby and with the help of the nearby packs we can cover almost all the forest but even with this method we should try and limit our night hunts" I said expecting people to hate the idea because it came from me but everyone just whispered in agreement, this was the first time in teh years people are looking at me with something other than hate
"Well done chigozie, you have spoken well" the alpha said patting my shoulder, I looked at my mom and saw her smiling with tears of joy flowing down her cheek, the entire pack was happy with the new arrangements.
Human POV
"Get lost Lucas, we are done" I said and immediately cut the call, Lucas and I have been dating for a year and and every month I catch him with a new girl, I totally over him
"Rebecca, Rebecca" a voice echoed from. The forest calling my name, the voice sounded like my mom who died 5 years ago in a car accident
"Mom" I said sobbing as I looked into the forest seeing a silhouette that looks exactly like my mom, I knew she was dead and that wasn't her but the thought of her still being alive never left my head in five years, I walked closer to the figured and the slower I got the more distorted the figured looked until I saw something straight out of a horror movie I tired to move away but my legs kept movng on their own, I tried screaming for help but my mouth was sealed shut the figured covered me with it's shadowy veil and then nothing.
