Chapter 6 - I smell my pup

Chapter 6

Selene Wolfe

The white ceiling of the unfamiliar room, accompanied by the pungent smell of drugs that turned my stomach inside out, welcomed me as I forced my eyes open.

"Where am I?" My voice bounced back at me, my head splitting with headache.

"You are awake…" My mom spoke. She sat on the chair beside the bed.

I squeezed my eyes shut, groaning as I sat up on the bed. The last thing I remembered was doing the dishes in the kitchen. How'd I end up here?

Then the door opened, and a man in white coat walked inside. His fingers were curled around a long white envelope.

"Doctor…" mom rose to her feet, her eyes on the doctor as she asked, "What's wrong with her?"

She asked plainly. No emotion. No worries.

The doctor looked between us, his face unreadable. Then the words that had me frozen on the bed rolled off his tongue. "She is pregnant."

I froze on the bed, my eyes widening in shock. Pregnant? How?

My fingers dug into the bed, my breath caught in my throat as the incident of one month ago clawed back into my mind. It can't be, please.

"Here is the test result." He added as he handed the file to my mom, leaving the ward afterwards.

An intense and suffocating silence thickened around us, my hands trembled as I fondled my fingers. My eyes dangled in their sockets as they stared around, and my heart… It was pounding violently against my ribcage, begging for an escape from this nightmare. From mom's wrath that would soon unfold.

My world stilled as she turned to me, eyes blazing with fury. "You're pregnant?" Her voice cracked as she scoffed. "Under my roof?"

I opened my mouth to talk, but no words came out. Just air.

"Selene… Have you been sleeping around with men after that day? Did it happen again?" Her voice was sharp, full of rage and disgust.

I shook my head defensively, my eyes wet with tears.

She stared at me, her eyes conveyed no emotion. Then she asked, "Who is responsible for it? Who is the father of that bastard inside you?"

How do I explain this? That I was drugged by the Alpha and her so-called perfect daughter and ended up having a one nightstand with a stranger? Will she even believe me?

She huffed, her fingers clenching tightly around the file, and jaw clenched tightly. "You don't know… You don't know who the pregnancy belongs to, out of the many men that you have slept with?"

"I didn't sleep with many men. I…" My voice faded into silence, tears pouring down my cheeks as I dropped my gaze, my face burning with shame.

Slowly, I placed a hand on my stomach, rubbing it gently, as a small smile curled up my lips. For the first time in years, I felt something within me. An unusual peace, though the feeling didn't stay long before it disappeared. But I felt it.

Mom went silent for a moment, then she said, "You are getting an abortion."

My eyes widened in shock.

"Come with me. I'm taking you to the doctor." She reached for my hand, but I flinched, shaking my head.

"I'm not getting an abortion, mom. There is no way I'm going to do that." My voice quivered beneath the pounding in my chest.

She scoffed, dragging her nails through her hair. "Selene… I'm going to give you another chance if you come with me to get this abortion. I will forgive you." Her nails dug into my shoulders, eyes on me, and voice almost shaky.

"No, mom…" I whispered. "I don't want to get an abortion."

Then she swung her hand across my face, landing a hot and resounding slap on my cheek. One that made me see stars for a moment.

"Isn't it enough that you humiliated me by getting pregnant? Worse still, for someone you don't even know? And now you want me to house you and that bastard in your belly? No way!" She snapped at me.

I had no idea why I didn't want to get an abortion, but I was certain I didn't want to.

She grabbed my hand and dragged me from the bed. "This is not a request, Selene. It's a command! You are getting rid of that child, and that's not up for a debate!" She stated, dragging me to the doctor's office, ignoring my pleas.

"She is getting an abortion, doc." she said to the doctor the moment we barged inside.

"Mom, please." I begged her, tears in my eyes, but she didn't even bat a lash, not even a glance at me.

"Mrs Wolfe, getting an abortion is—"

"Abort this child, doctor!" She slammed her hand on his desk, the other still holding me tightly.

He hesitated, glancing at me before mumbling, '...Is this really what she wants?'

Then said aloud "Sure. I will do it."

If there was something that amazes me about mom, it is how she has so much power in Wyrmshade Pack when she was only the wife of the late beta. She could always command anything with a snap of her fingers.

He picked up his phone and dialled a number, prescribed some medicines to be brought for me, and after the call, he turned to my mom and said. "She'll be here in a bit."

My heart felt heavy. As if a heavy weight had just been dropped on it. There was no point resisting anymore, so I just gave up.

A few minutes later, the doctor left the office and came back with a glass of water and a pack of abortion pills.

"Take this. It'll flush the baby away."

My heart ached as mom took the pill, took out one, and thrust it into my palm.

"Take it. Now!"

My hand trembled. I popped the pill into my mouth. Lifted the glass. Just as it reached my lips… then boom! The door opens. A familiar scent thickened in the air.

And as mom looked away, I snatched the opportunity and quickly spat out the pill.

My breath hitched. That scent… familiar and fierce, dragged me back to a memory I had buried. No. It couldn't be him. And yet… my wolf didn't lie.

My wolf stirred. Recognizing him even before he walked inside. His presence like a storm itself. My jaw reached the ground, and my eyes widened in shock when I saw who it was. Alpha Storm of Crimson Pack.

A heavy silence echoed in the air, mixed with fear. I could see the shift in my mom's face. The shock in her eyes, and the doctor wasn't left out.

Yes, that is how much effect Alpha Storm has on them. I heard that even his fellow Alphas shivers at the mention of his name.

'No! It can't be him. He can't be the same man from that night'.

"I smell my pup here."

He wrinkled his nose, his eyes scanned the doctor's office, nose wrinkled, sniffling the air. He paused the moment he saw me, his brown squinting, relief settling on his face.

Mom stood, frozen. Her eyes widened.

'Does he recognise me?'

My hand subconsciously trailed to my stomach as his eyes locked on mine. "You're carrying my child." he said. "No one touches her."
