Chapter 5
Crimson Pack, one month later
Alpha Storm Blackwood
One month later, and the incident of that night still lingered on my mind. Her sweet faint wildflower scent. For the past one month, I found myself finding anyone with that scent, but I had never been able to find even a single shewolf with the same scent. Like it's made for her alone… That night, haunting me like forever.
My eyes pierced out through the window of my study, staring at the beautiful garden, then a knock on my door disrupted my thoughts, a familiar presence thickened around the air. It was Slade, my beta.
"Come in."
The air thickened with his musky scent as he walked inside, adorned in a charcoal suit.
Slade and I have been friends for years, long before I was crowned as the Alpha of Crimson Pack, and him, my beta.
"Alpha…"
"Speak, Slade. Did you find her?"
I tightened my jaw as he shook his head… again.
With a frustrating sigh, I sank into my chair, dragging my fingers through my hair. Where is she hiding?
Silence thickened around us, lingering on for long, before Slade spoke up. "Alpha, are you sure about that night? Did that really happen, or could it be the effect of the drug?"
I shot him a glare, and he quickly bowed his head… apologetically.
"Forgive me, Alpha."
"You may leave now, Slade. I'll call if I need you here."
"Yes, Alpha."
I stared after him as he exited my study room.
A tight groan tore through my throat as memories of that night clawed back in. I was drugged that night, unable to control the hotness seeping through my body, and I ended up taking advantage of an innocent girl.
The next morning when I woke up, she was gone. I didn't get to see her face. To apologise to her, and to compensate her. She must think that I'm a piece of shit now.
'Where are you, stranger?'
The door opened, and my fiancé, Sophie, walked in, adorned in a short black fitted armless gown, revealing her flawless skin, and hugging her slim body tightly. Her brown hair fell freely down her shoulders. A smile plastered on her oval-shaped face as she approached me. Her pair of deep blue eyes gazed at me.
My stomach riled up with disgust at the sight of her.
"Alpha…" She stood in front of me.
I didn't say a word to her as I stood and grabbed my car keys, walking past her.
"Come on, alpha…" she held my hand, bringing me to an abrupt halt. Even her touch made my skin tingle with irritation.
I yanked her hand off and took a step back from her. "What is it, Sophie?"
She frowned. "It's been one month, alpha. Are you never going to forgive me?"
The nerve of her to think that I would forgive her for drugging me. This whole thing was her fault. She drugged me so I could have sex with her, but everything messed up, and she ended up making me take advantage of an innocent girl, and now she's talking about forgiveness?
I shot her a glare, and without saying a word to her, I started leaving.
But her voice cut through my ears just before I reached the door.
"All I ever wanted was to make you see how much you mean to me. I'm the only one who truly understands you, Storm."
I paused and tightened my jaw, turning to face her.
"You left me with no choice, Storm. We've been together for five years, yet you don't want to touch me. We are getting married soon. Is this how you would continue to treat me even after our mating ceremony?" She yelled… at the top of her voice. The mistake she shouldn't have made.
My heart pulsated, the sudden surge of energy spread through my body, and the next second, I stood in front of Sophie, grabbed her neck, and slammed her hard against the wall.
She choked, tapping my hand, eyes widened.
Fenrir, my wolf was trying to take over me. He could never take disrespect. She should've known better than raising her voice at us.
"Don't ever… Don't ever speak to us in that manner!" Fenrir's grip tightened around her neck, his deep raspy voice echoed in the room, while I tried to gain control over him again.
Then he disappeared, giving me access to myself again, and I loosened my grip from Sophie's neck.
She collapsed to the floor, rubbing her neck and breathing heavily.
I squatted in front of her. "Next time you raise your voice, I won't stop at a warning, Sophie. I'll remind you why I'm feared across every border… Don't cross the line, Sophie."
Sophie scoffed as I reached the door. "Do you think my father is going to fold his arms and do nothing if he finds out you are hurting me?"
I paused and took a deep breath.
"You've been delaying our mating ceremony for years. You don't even acknowledge me as your woman, yet I've been covering up for you before my father… Do you think the peace between the Crimson Pack and the Emberwolf Pack will continue after my father finds out about this?"
My breath caught, anger surged through me as I turned to Sophie who was already on her feet. Is she threatening me?
To settle the unending fight between Crimson and Emberwolf Pack, my father, the late alpha of Crimson Pack, had ordered that I marry Sophie Nightshade, the princess of Emberwolf Pack. We've been engaged ever since she turned eighteen, but even after five years of being together, not for a day have I felt something for Sophie. And I never tried to.
I walked back to her, grabbed her chin, my nails digging into it, while she groaned in pain.
"Listen, Sophie… I don't care if your father finds out about this… Everything I'm doing is for my late father. To honour him. I do not give a fuck about what your father would do… Don't push me."
And with that, I advanced towards the door.
"You can't keep treating me like this, Storm. I love you!"
Her faint voice sounded behind me, but I was already long gone.
Slade was waiting along the hallway as I stepped out of the room.
"Get the car ready. We are going somewhere."
"Yes, Alpha."
I need to find that girl… I must find her…
