Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Cracks in Light

POV: Kevin

---

[Temple of Solaris – High Noon]

Kevin stood alone before the Statue of the Goddess, the sun blazing through stained glass. His robes were immaculate—white trimmed in gold, the symbol of light etched into his chest.

Yet he felt no warmth.

The prayers echoed around him like hollow chants.

He clutched the holy staff given to him the day of the summoning.

It didn't hum like it used to.

---

[Visions Turned Shadows]

He had begun seeing things.

Whispers in his dreams.

People speaking without sound.

A golden hallway turning black when no one watched.

And sometimes—he saw Guhan.

Not dead. Not forgotten.

Just… walking away.

> "You're the Chosen One," they told him.

"He was just an accident."

Then why did the world feel wrong without Guhan in it?

---

[Secret Chamber – Forbidden Records]

Kevin descended into the old library, a place only High Guardians could enter. Scrolls sealed with divine wax. Writings banned from even scholars.

He broke the seal.

> "The first summoning was flawed. Three arrived, but only two matched the divine markers. The third—unreadable. Unmeasured."

Guhan.

He read deeper.

> "Subject X-3 demonstrated extreme energy mimicry, beyond classification. Deemed threat to divine order."

Threat?

He kept reading.

> "If he lives… he may unravel the Goddess's weave."

His hands trembled.

The church hadn't just ignored Guhan.

They feared him.

And they lied.

---

[Kevin's Doubt Grows]

He returned to the prayer hall.

Sat in silence.

Voices echoed in his mind.

> "Faith isn't loyalty to lies."

"Light isn't blind."

"And neither should you be."

He remembered the first time Guhan healed someone—before they were summoned. A small girl in a battlefield clinic. She was crying. Kevin panicked.

Guhan didn't.

He healed her with calm hands and whispered jokes until she smiled.

That was real.

This… palace, these titles, these robes?

He no longer knew what was.

---

[Final Scene – The Silent Rebellion]

That night, Kevin returned to the archives. Burned the copy he read.

But he kept one page—folded, hidden in his robe.

He looked up at the Goddess's statue.

> "If you really hear me," he said softly,

"I don't serve thrones. I serve people. And I'm done being blind."

And with that, the Light Hero took his first step into rebellion.
