There were some things Malcador really couldn't explain to Axis in detail.
Gene-seed was extracted from the bodies of the Primarchs.
On the surface, it seemed to have nothing to do with the Warp, but because the very essence of a Primarch ultimately originated from the Warp, the gene-seed displayed some very mysterious properties.
First of all, anyone implanted with gene-seed would naturally feel a sense of closeness to their genetic father.
Unless the recipient possessed an exceptionally strong will, the Primarch's commands would be received as if they were divine decrees.
All gene-sons would obey their Primarch's orders unconditionally.
If a Primarch ever betrayed the Emperor, their gene-seed would no longer be safe.
In that case, the entire legion would have to be purged, there was simply no other option.
This was the Emperor's only recourse.
"I understand, teacher! Then, when can I return to the Space Wolves? My father has been waiting for me a long time, hasn't he?" Axis asked.
This wasn't something he could ask the Emperor directly, but he could at least check with his teacher, Malcador, about when he'd be allowed to return to the Space Wolves.
"You'll see your father soon, and return to his side. For now, just focus on completing this mission. Don't worry about anything else," Malcador replied.
Actually, Leman Russ had also been assigned to this mission.
The Emperor's original plan was for Russ to lead the Space Wolves in eliminating the Second Primarch and his legion.
Sending Axis was meant to give both of them a surprise. Neither of them knew the other was involved.
Once this mission ended, Axis would be sent back to the Space Wolves.
The idea was that, one day, after understanding the terrifying threat of the Warp, Axis would come looking for the Emperor, and for Malcador, of his own accord.
Axis's potential was immense, and the power of Ki was something that could not be replicated.
The spare incubation pod by his side was actually intended for cultivating Axis clones.
Although clones couldn't generate Ki, at least they could become warriors on par with the Custodes.
This cloning experiment let the Emperor truly understand how great Axis's potential was, and just how vital the power of Ki could be.
The clone's early development seemed promising, but it never generated Ki.
Its cells even started to show resistance, as if, without Ki nourishing them, they would wither away.
In the end, the clone never developed into a true lifeform; it was just a warped imitation of Axis, something that could barely survive in the incubation pod.
As soon as it was removed from the nutrient solution and exposed to the outside world, it would die instantly for lack of Ki.
After realizing this, the Emperor and Malcador decisively destroyed the clone and repurposed the incubation pod for other experiments.
This experience convinced them both that Axis was truly irreplaceable, and that his future importance would rival that of the Primarchs.
Because of this, the Emperor and Malcador took Axis's development very seriously, even going so far as to tell him about the dangers of Chaos in the Warp.
They realized that simply telling Axis about the dangers of Chaos in the Warp wouldn't have much effect, he needed to experience the terrifying power of Chaos for himself.
"I understand. I'll do as you say! I will follow the Emperor's orders," Axis replied.
He decided to set a small goal for himself: to become a Super Saiyan first!
Axis felt his new body was overflowing with power.
Over the next few days, Axis began a rigorous rehabilitation regimen.
After just one day, he could walk normally. Two days later, he was already running and jumping without difficulty.
In only ten days, Axis had completely mastered his new body, he could fly through the air and even unleash Ki blasts.
His physique now stood at 2.1 meters, making him a true giant even among Saiyans, just a little shorter than Nappa and Broly.
Axis felt a little regret about not being taller, but also secretly relieved.
Sure, being over three meters tall looked impressive, but it came with a lot of drawbacks.
For example, finding a girl who could match him in size would be quite a challenge!
He had no intention of staying single for life like some of the Custodes and Primarchs.
"Teacher, just how tough is my skin now?" Axis asked.
After ten days of training, Axis could clearly sense that his body had become extremely resilient, his defenses were all off the charts.
"I'd like to know too. I have a rough estimate, but let's run a proper test," Malcador said.
Axis nodded, and the two of them went to the armory.
Malcador brought out a standard Imperial Guard lasgun, a bolt rifle, and a massive bolter used by Space Marines.
He also prepared a plasma gun, a meltgun, the newest energy weapon, a power sword, and a chainsword.
The first test was with the lasgun.
The red laser struck Axis, but he didn't feel a thing, there wasn't even a mark left on his skin.
Malcador nodded in satisfaction, then picked up a standard bolter and fired at Axis.
A series of bang bang bang sounds echoed through the room.
Axis felt like grains of sand were pelting him, there was barely any sensation at all. The deformed rounds simply fell to the floor.
Next up was the Space Marine bolter.
Axis felt as if he'd been hit with a rubber bullet, other than that, nothing. There wasn't even any redness or swelling on his skin.
Malcador then tried the meltagun.
Knowing the kind of intense heat it could unleash, Axis didn't take any chances. He layered a barrier of Ki over his skin.
His Ki flared around him like raging flames, and a faint green energy coalesced, forming a protective shield that wrapped around his body.
This shield, forged from Ki, surprised Axis.
This move was just like the one Broly had used in the movies, a unique ability for Super Saiyans. Axis could feel that his body was evolving toward the Legendary Super Saiyan.
"Is this a Ki-based barrier? It's like a psychic shield," Malcador remarked curiously, reaching out to touch the green field, but the instant he made contact, he was violently repelled.
He felt an overwhelming force, as if an invisible giant hand had slapped him away.
After using this technique, Axis suddenly felt a terrifying surge of rage welling up from deep inside, a wild, uncontrollable fury.
"Arghhhh!!!"
