Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Shave.

The six navy styles are Shave, Iron Body, Paper Art, Moon Step, Tempest Kick, and Finger Gun.

The principle behind each is very simple, so we won't go into detail here.

To train in the Six Styles, physical strength is essential. With Kaito's current condition, he should meet the basic standards for practicing them.

After all, he wasn't sure how his physical ability compared to others, especially those from the Naruto world.

As is well known, the world of One Piece emphasizes physical training, while Naruto focuses more on ninjutsu.

To use an analogy: the One Piece world is like a battalion of tanks, while Naruto's world is like a team of mages casting jutsu from the backline.

There's a reason Kaito decided to practice the Six Styles.

It's because of the Eight Gates!

He wanted to use the Navy Six Styles as a foundation to earn the right to train in the Eight Gates, that near-mythical taijutsu technique Might Guy nearly used to change the course of the war! A super S-rank taijutsu art from the Naruto world!

In this way, Kaito could one day use that technique without it seeming too out of place.

The principle of the Eight Gates is simple: it's a technique that removes the body's natural limiters, allowing one to release explosive chakra-fueled strength.

The chakra circulatory system has points that restrict and regulate the flow of chakra—these are the "Eight Gates": the Gate of Opening, Gate of Rest, Gate of Life, Gate of Pain, Gate of Limit, Gate of View, Gate of Wonder, and Gate of Death.

The locations of the Eight Gates weren't hard to identify, and Kaito managed to pinpoint them not long after gaining access to the training space.

Instead of opening them immediately, he used the lightning within his body to stimulate and temper the gate points, making it easier to open them in the future.

His body was still too young to handle the full strain of that ultimate taijutsu.

He had his own plans for the Eight Gates, but that's a discussion for another time.

Of course, the Eight Gates were still a long way off. His immediate goal was mastering the Six Styles.

He needed to see whether One Piece-style taijutsu could work in the Naruto world.

The best place to start was "Shave."

Shave is the foundation of both Moon Step and Tempest Kick among the Six Styles.

Once you master Shave, the others become significantly easier to learn.

The principle of Shave is stepping on the ground at extremely high speed—dozens of times in just over a third of a second (0.36 seconds)—generating explosive force to launch oneself forward at high speed. It's essentially the equivalent of the Body Flicker Technique in the Naruto world.

Kaito possessed the powers of the Thunder Fruit and had already developed his own Lightning-Style Body Flicker Technique. His speed and reach surpassed Shave by a large margin. To him, Shave was more of a reference point than a necessary move.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Kaito began practicing the principle behind Shave. One footprint after another formed in the dirt around the woods.

Bang!

After slamming another footprint into the ground, Kaito frowned.

"Still not working? Is my body not strong enough yet?"

He had just stomped the ground more than ten times in one second, but his body hadn't moved at all.

Could it be that taijutsu from One Piece just didn't work in Naruto's world? Or—

No! Kaito's eyes lit up with realization.

Shave required stomping dozens of times in 0.36 seconds—he had only managed a little over ten in one full second.

"Guess the gap is still too big," Kaito muttered, deep in thought.

"Let's take off the weights."

With that, Kaito removed the training weights from his body.

Bang!

The dull thud that followed made the entire ground tremble.

Leaves fell from the trees like rain, stirred by the impact, turning the scene momentarily majestic.

Bathed in the scent of crushed leaves, Kaito's earlier frustration lifted, replaced with renewed energy.

"It really does feel different without the weights," he grinned.

Suddenly, his aura surged.

A flash of determination lit up his eyes.

"Shave!"

Kaito shouted and stomped down with lightning speed. A trail of afterimages remained in his place.

Whoosh!

In the next instant, Kaito vanished from his position—and reappeared half a meter away.

"It worked!" he grinned.

He had managed to stomp nearly thirty times in that instant, focusing all of his mind into a trance-like state.

He had only one thought: Faster. Faster. Faster!

By the time he returned to his senses, his body had already moved half a meter.

That half meter was enough to make Kaito ecstatic—it meant One Piece-style physical techniques could work in the Naruto world.

Time flew as Kaito trained obsessively. Before he knew it, ten days had passed.

He had spent all ten days mastering Shave. And now, after all his hard work, he could finally have his shadow clone continue the training.

A moment later, a wave of dizziness hit him.

On the tatami mat, Kaito slowly opened his eyes.

"System! Can you stop switching my position like that? Every time you do it, my vision goes all blurry!"

Silence.

"Sigh… Other people's systems are so nice, always being friendly with their host. Mine's like a block of stone. Aside from the initial 'System Activated,' it hasn't said a single word. So damn aloof."

More silence.

"Fine, fine. You win. You're the boss."

Muttering to himself, Kaito grabbed some meat to refuel, then went straight to bed.

---

The next morning, Kaito took Ino to class as usual. Along the way, he ended up carrying the girl on his back again, causing nearby passersby to drop their food in shock.

Life at the Ninja Academy was mind-numbingly boring, but Kaito had no choice—he couldn't afford to act like a genius.
