The three walked along the palace corridor. Asher turned his head and could see the streets outside through the window, light rain falling gently. Armored puppets occasionally passed by in the corridor. When they saw Morgan le Fay, they all bowed respectfully.
Clearly, Morgan had set some programming in these puppets, allowing them to obey her commands.
If only the Land of Shadows had this... Asher thought silently.
"What's wrong? Want to learn this too?" Morgan le Fay seemed to see through Asher's thoughts and smiled at him.
Asher shook his head. "Not really interested. I can take care of these puppets myself."
"Oh?" Morgan raised an eyebrow. "Alone?"
"If I have enough stamina," Asher added. "It seems only these armors are tough. The puppets hidden inside should be quite fragile."
"Indeed, but they won't take off their armor," Morgan said, pausing slightly. "Also, if you think you can find out how to make Enforcement Knights this way, you're thinking too naively of me."
Asher felt a bit embarrassed and shifted his gaze to the window.
As expected of a woman who has lived for hundreds, even thousands of years. I really can't outsmart her with tricks...
"Ara, you're not thinking about age, are you?" Morgan turned to Asher, smiling warmly.
"N-no... you're overthinking it, Big Sister Morgan," Asher replied quickly, wondering if she could read minds.
"I do know a little bit of mind-reading," Morgan said suddenly.
Asher: "..."
"But don't worry, I haven't used it on you yet," she tapped his forehead lightly. "If I knew everything you were thinking, then you wouldn't have any value in existing."
Hearing this, Asher finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Although he knew this goddess seemed capable of most things, he hadn't expected her to know even a bit of mind-reading. That was a little scary.
Then again, maybe she was just lying—Morgan liked to lie.
Artoria silently followed behind the two, not saying a word.
The atmosphere between these two... was indeed very strange.
How many things is Asher still hiding from me...? she thought.
"By the way, what brings you two here?" Morgan asked suddenly.
Artoria paused, unsure how to answer. Almost at the same time, Asher's footsteps halted.
One of his main reasons to find Morgan was because his divination skills had reached a bottleneck, and he wanted advice to improve.
The other was concern over Morgan's recent absence. Could the ghost incident wandering Camelot, which Artoria had mentioned, be causing Morgan to be monitored and unable to leave?
Although he thought so, Asher stayed silent since Artoria was nearby, and some things couldn't be said directly.
Though not a secret, maybe Morgan le Fay didn't want her younger sister to know?
"Don't worry, just say whatever you want," Morgan said with a knowing smile.
"Can I?" Asher hesitated.
"Mm, of course," she replied.
Asher nodded. "Big Sister Morgan, have you been busy these past few days?"
"So that's what this is about?" Morgan smiled faintly, reaching out to pinch Asher's cheek. "If I want to do something, do I have to ask your permission first?"
"No, I just thought it was a bit strange..." Asher turned away, avoiding her pinch.
Morgan was momentarily stunned, then removed the veil covering her face, revealing stunningly beautiful cheeks. A smile lit her face.
"Is that so? Did you come because you missed me too much?"
"The starting point is a bit different... just a little concerned," Asher made a small excuse.
"That's just missing me, just said differently," Morgan said as the three unknowingly walked into the main hall.
Morgan leisurely walked to the throne and, leaning back against it, muttered:
"Is that so? Your Shishou went on a half-month trip. Your Big Sister Uathach alone can't satisfy your desires, so you came to find me? I see, I see."
"Your starting point is completely twisted, Big Sister Morgan!" Asher retorted loudly, then after a short pause said, "I was just worried something might have happened to Big Sister Morgan..."
"Don't you miss me at all?" Morgan stared at him with a teasing smile.
After a moment, Asher nodded lightly. "A little bit."
He had spent more than four years with Morgan. For her, four years might be short; for Asher, it was very long.
"That's right. What I hate most is a child who talks in a roundabout way and isn't sincere at all," Morgan smiled, then turned to Artoria. "And you, do you think I caused the ghosts that appeared recently in Britain?"
"No!" Artoria looked straight at Morgan. "I don't think Big Sister would have any reason to do that."
"Reasons... If I had to talk about reasons to take revenge on that old man, there would be plenty," Morgan tapped the edge of her chair lightly. "But it wasn't me, whether you believe it or not."
"What exactly are those ghosts?" Asher asked.
"Hmm..." Morgan thought for a moment. "If I had to say, they're probably related to the foreign tribes."
"Foreign tribes?" Asher repeated.
"Mm," Morgan nodded. "If I'm not mistaken, King Uther should have already sent someone over—"
Knock knock.
A knock came from outside. An Enforcement Knight entered, walked straight to Morgan le Fay, knelt on one knee, and held out a letter with both hands.
The letter had just been entrusted to the Enforcement Knight by the guard at the door. No one wanted to enter the palace and face this unpredictable witch without necessity.
"Go and open the letter for me," Morgan said to Asher.
"Why me?" Asher complained but still walked forward, took the letter, and tore open the envelope.
"Curious? If you are, take a look first," Morgan said, crossing her legs and leaning back on the throne, watching him like a queen. "Anyway, I probably already know what King Uther said."
Asher didn't hesitate. He opened the letter. Artoria glanced at Morgan, then walked to Asher's side, her gaze fixed on the letter.
Seemingly unbothered by proximity to the opposite sex, Artoria didn't notice how close she stood. Her emerald eyes reflected the contents of the letter.
Asher felt a peculiar softness as the girl leaned closer. For a moment, he had a strange feeling, but then he noticed Morgan watching with a teasing look.
He pretended not to notice and refocused on the letter.
