LUCAS BLAKE
I was about to step into the elevator when I heard a familiar voice call out from a distance. I turned to look back.
"It's been a long time, Lucas," she said, smiling at me.
"Cl... Clara," I stammered. She raised her hand, displaying the diamond engagement ring on her finger.
"It's nice to see you again, after our breakup three years ago."
"You still haven't changed, just like stagnant water. Let me guess, you haven't moved on from…..well, you know what I mean," she said.
"Are you waiting for me? Is that why you haven't moved on? That's quite impressive."
"Is that true or not? Wait, don't tell me you're still in love with me. Come on, Lucas, that's not fair! Don't even think about it. I'm not into animals. Oops, my bad. Poor you, Lucas. You can save that love for your future... what am I even saying? No woman will be interested in you, let alone marry you, because you can't per—"
"What did you do to me? I knew you did something to me. I started to suspect it when you began giving me that strange tea, which you had drugged. You think you're going to get away with it? No, I will ruin you like you have ruined me. You caused this, and you will pay for it."
"Wh... what do you mean? I did nothing to you. Do you have proof? Show me. You're the only one who knows what happened to you, not me. You can't use that to trick me or keep me down, okay? Learn to move on," she said, caressing her diamond ring with her right hand.
Then how do you know I can't, when I didn't even know myself?
"Isn't it obvious? When you start… Well, I'm a girl; that's why I know. Girls notice things. It's just that I'm sensible," she said, adjusting her posture.
"I see. You haven't changed at all, Clara. You are still arrogant, manipulative, and have a terrible mouth," I said, and she laughed.
"Don't deny it, Lucas. It was you who was arrogant and selfish. You're like a dog that anyone can control. Just a little misunderstanding, and you cut ties with your childhood friend; even your dad had to threaten you. You're nothing but a puppet. And I can tell you still love me; that's why you're still single. But sorry for your loss. Mike won this round, and I went back to him. He's a famous artist, rich, and of course, he wants me back. And he's a... complete man," she said, glancing down toward my lower body.
"Miss Clara, you should watch your words."
"Shut up, you little thing. Oh, and point of correction, it's Mrs., not Miss," she said smugly.
Then, all of a sudden, I spotted Daisy coming my way. It felt like a miracle. God didn't want to shame me in the presence of my enemy.
"You should be the one to keep your mouth shut, Clara. Doesn't your mouth hurt? The incident of last three years have been a blessing in disguise. I can't stand someone as selfish as you," I said.
"As if I was happy when I dated you. Oh my goodness."
"Like you said earlier, you've moved on, so have I."
"Oh, there she is."
I walked up to Daisy.
"You took too long, honey," I said, hugging her. Her sweet lavender-scented perfume filled my senses. "Act with me," I whispered in her ear. I could see the shock on her face, but she understood quickly. She held my arms and went along with it.
"I'm sorry, darling. Uhm, who is this?" she said, pretending not to know Clara.
"Don't you know her? My past."
"Oh, that's right; I just remembered. My bad. Hello, Mrs. Past," Daisy said in a soft and calm voice.
Once inside the elevator, I whispered, "I'm sorry, but I had no choice but to do that."
DAISY LORNE
What is happening here? What is he doing in this place? Did he know where I was working and plan to surprise me? But he's dressed in a suit. Did he come here for a business deal? That doesn't seem likely. Oh my God, is he the CEO of this large, towering, and stressful company?
Then the annoying scene captures my attention.
And he's a... complete man," she said, looking down at him.
Clara. What is she doing here, and what did she mean by that? I wondered.
I was about to dodge them when he saw me. Our eyes locked, and I was surprised to see him since it had been so long. He started coming my way.
"You took too long, honey."
"Huh?"
He hugged me. "Act with me," he whispered in my ear. I was too shocked to respond because it was unexpected, but I quickly understood what he meant. I held his arms and went along with it.
"I'm sorry, darling. Uhm, who is this?" I pretended not to know her.
"Don't you know her?" he asked.
"I don't think so; her face looks unfamiliar to me. I don't think we've met before."
"My past," he replied.
"Ohh, that's true; I just remembered, my bad. Hello, Mrs. Past," I said. Her reaction was priceless; she was left speechless. The embarrassment she wanted to give Lucas ended up falling on her instead. I smiled at her.
"My ex-girlfriend who left me hanging," he said.
"Yeah, a terrible ex," I added. "I can tell she's crazy. She needs a brain check-up. Such a dirty brat."
