Adam and Rook stood in the middle of an empty field a few hundred miles away from the city. While Ysolde watched.
'What a bunch of idiots…I swear all men want to do is fight.'
Ysolde chewed on a piece of gum while observing them. After a bit, Adam made the first move. Charging towards Rook.
"Huh, little aggressive today I guess."
Adam swung his first punch and his hand collided into a spectral shield that surrounded Rook.
"Tch. Forgot about your stupid toys."
Adam reached his arm back again and activated his ability, it sharpened his hand and rotated his arm like it was a drill and he rammed it into the spectral shield, shattering it completely, his hand then went back to normal and he swung his fist. Rook drew a spectral blade and blocked Adam's fist, but Adam was able to push enough force into his fist to blow the blade backwards along with Rook's arms.
"Shit! What the hell is up with your ability?" Rook yelled at him while being swung back. "Shut it." Adam put his hand over the back of his head and smiled while starting to slam his head into the ground. Rook moved his hand to line up with Adam's face and blasted a light ball that was enough to momentarily blind Adam. Rook skid backwards while manifesting three swords and shooting them at him. Adam quickly recovered and head butted one of the swords. Before grabbing the other two and shattering them.
"The hell?"
"Surprised?"
"Fine, Adam, if that's what you want…time to go all out."
Ysolde still calmly observed away from the fight. Far as possible enough to not lose sight of them. 'Damnit, are those idiots trying to kill each other? As far as I know. I don't think Rook even has a chance at winning. Adam has only used his ability once. And Rook's already done to one of his last resorts.'
Rook manifested spectral armor to fit him and took out a large lance. Twice the size of even him. He used the lance to propel himself into the air and spun as he attempted to drill into Adam. As they collided. Ysolde only saw a large beam of light emanating from the two.
"Huh, I guess he really did bring it out."
In Adam's hands was a sword that blazed with purple flame. While Rook's lance was chipped just by colliding with it.
"Special technique, home run blast!"
Adam dashed forward slightly before smashing into Rook's armor with the blunt edge of the blade. Smashing it right into his butt.
"Ow! Hot!"
Rook was sent flying next to Ysolde. His butt emanating steam.
"Ew…"
"Fuck you, Ysolde…" He said faintly.
Meanwhile, Aries stood in front of his home, contemplating whether to go in or go somewhere else. As he thought. An arm wrapped around his shoulder. It was Grey.
"Hey. Kid. Got time to talk?"
"…are you trying to abduct me or something?" Aries stared blankly at Grey. As Grey nervously looked back. "No. Just a minute."
"…I'm busy."
"Come one. Just one minute."
Aries sighed and looked at him. "Fine. Make it quick."
"Thank you. Did you happen to encounter a uh, beggar? A few weeks ago?" Aries face twitched a bit. "And how the hell do you know about that?"
"I have my ways. Anyways. Forget that for now. You see this?"
Grey pointed his finger at him. A golden string was attached to his finger. When Aries observed closely. It's origination was somewhere in the sky.
"Uh…yeah?"
"So you can see it. Only special people like you and me can see it. People who have a special relationship with fate."
"I don't believe in fate."
"Well it's real. And it's bound to our very body and soul. Every human should have that string attached to them. But you don't."
Aries looked at his hands. "Yeah, so?"
"…you don't seem to know why. So maybe you didn't do it. But the fact you don't have that golden string means you're severed from fate. That's the reason why Od— I mean that beggar, was going after you. He's not just an ordinary guy. He hunts nobodies like you."
Aries eye twitched with annoyance as he called him a nobody.
"Look, I wish I was joking when I said a nobody. But literally, that's why you're a nobody. Why nobody knows you, why nobody wants to be near you. Because you're different. Even different from me. Different from all of us. I'm not sure what your story is. But I'm sure you probably don't even remember half of it. Correct? Just woke up one day?"
"How did you…"
Grey sighed. "Well, that's enough for today. Don't mind my ramblings…" Grey walked away while Aries just stood there. Slightly astonished.
'What the hell is that guy on about? Just who even is he?'
