I stood frozen in my living room, the weight of what Rhys had just revealed crushing down on me. My hands trembled as I tried to process his words.
"You broke your engagement with Faye?" I finally managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper. "Are you insane?"
Rhys stood several feet away, his dark eyes never leaving mine. "I told you I was done letting anything stand between us."
"This isn't about us!" I snapped, finding my voice as anger surged through me. "You just hurt another woman! Do you have any idea what you've done?"
His jaw tightened. "It would have been crueler to marry her while wanting someone else."
I paced across the room, needing to put distance between us. "How convenient for you to discover your moral compass now, after making commitments to her and her pack!"
Something dangerous flashed in his eyes. "You have no idea what I've been through these past four years."
