Kayn stared at the incoming enemy that walked nearer and nearer to his fortress.
'It's not really my fortress, but I happened to defend this place two times in a single day. Not that I defended anything other than my own life…'
Like before, the army didn't rush things and just marched forward slowly.
And with the wind demon already knowing what kind of traps Kayn had set up all around the fortress, the army would have an easier time dealing with them compared to the first army that the wind demon led.
Furthermore, the leader of this army was an earth demon, which was kind of annoying for Kayn, as the earth demon would be able to deal with his traps even better than the wind demon.
Just like Kayn had expected, the moment the earth demon saw the icy fields and the remaining ice spears that hadn't been detonated for the first time, it quickly asked the wind demon what he needed to do.
And just like that, the wind demon started blabbering as the earth demon began casting his spells.
The first spell the earth demon cast was a field of earth spikes.
The earth spikes grew from the ground below the icy fields, destroying the icy and slippery ground that Kayn had created.
Some of the ice spikes even stabbed themselves into the rigid ice spears, breaking the ice spear into several pieces as multiple ice spikes stabbed into one.
For the second spell, the earth demon flattened the earth spikes, covering the remaining icy grounds that weren't destroyed by the spikes in the first place.
And now, a non-slipper and safe path that leads to the fortress began to be built by the earth demon.
"Well, there goes my hard work and preparation."
Fortunately, the earth demon wasn't that strong yet, and he couldn't just erase all the icy fields and rigid ice spears around the fortress
Not letting the earth demon do as he pleases, Kayn spread out his wings and began assaulting the army with his spells.
The earth demon and the wind demon worked together again to defend the army and themselves from Kayn's attacks, but Kayn had also prepared a countermeasure of his own this time.
The earth demon created another barricaded trench using earth, and all the demons hid under it again.
It was truly annoying, and Kayn would have uttered a few words of complaint if not for the fact that there was a new spell that he wanted to try out.
"Curving Ice Bullet"
Just like ordinary ice bullets, the bullets made of ice materialized in front of Kayn and shot forward.
But instead of flying straight to Kayn's target, the ice bullet just flew straight in the air, seemingly trying to hit the sky above.
At the last moment, though, right when the ice bullets were flying above the barricaded trenches, right above the unprotected side of the trench, they suddenly bent downward and continued flying towards the hole in the ground.
And that's exactly where the demons had taken cover.
The ice bullets flew unimpeded as they hit the demons hiding in the trench and killed them quickly by making holes in their brains.
Some who noticed the ice bullets quickly could put up a magic barrier on their own or even hid behind their own comrades, and use them as meat shields.
A lot of the demons were more sensitive to sensing mana, and a lot of them had reacted in time, but there were also a lot of the demons who didn't have the chance to react as their lives were taken away.
The two elemental demons were shocked when they saw a projectile just bending in mid-air, but the wind demon's constant reminder of how dangerous the ice demon was made the earth demon wake up from his daze faster.
"We need to move quickly." The earth demon said as he began destroying more and more of the icy fields and opening up a safe path towards the fortress.
While the wind demon was in charge of keeping an eye on the ice demon, making sure the earth demon didn't get caught off guard when he was focusing on creating the safe path.
Kayn had half ignored the two elemental demons and only cast a few spells here and there just to keep them in check.
His main focus was on dwindling the number of the demon army, as he would really be in trouble this time if they made it to the fortress.
Without his spears and preparation beforehand, Kayn couldn't simply fight a hundred-plus demons on his own with two elemental demons keeping him in check.
The earth demon had realized that the trench was useless now, and it only hindered the progress of his army's advance, so he raised the ground once more and crumbled the earth wall as he ordered his army to scatter.
He saw that the ice demon didn't really have a large area spell that he could cast, and spreading the army over a larger area was better to minimize the casualties.
Kayn had also realized this fact, but there wasn't any spell that he could think of yet to deal with this problem.
"If only I can see that damned ice demon's spell once more, I will definitely be able to understand how he controlled all those spears now with my improved mana comprehension…"
Kayn muttered under his breath, but he didn't stop flying around and casting his spells to kill more and more demons.
The progress was very slow this time as the army was more scattered and he didn't have his traps and terrain advantage, but a lot of them were still going down.
Kayn began to wonder what the two elemental demons were trying to do as they seemed hellbent on creating a path to the fortress, despite himself flying around and being anywhere other than the fortress.
But he would not miss the opportunity to kill off as many demons as possible and consume souls here and there to increase his strength even more.
Unbeknownst to Kayn, a unit of demons, 14 of them, were running around near the path that the two elemental demons created, waiting patiently for the moment when a clear path to the fortress was completed.
