Episode 103: "Prototype 02"
---
The wind howled through the abandoned facility, rattling loose metal panels and stirring the dust of forgotten horrors. Deep within the shadows, beneath layers of concrete and old sins, the lone stasis pod pulsed with light.
She opened her eyes.
Emerald green. Just like Kara's.
Her breath came shallow, disoriented. Cold fog drifted off her skin as she sat up inside the pod, wires detaching from her spine, arms, and skull. The glass dome slid open with a hiss.
A voice crackled through the intercom: mechanical, calm, and chilling.
"Prototype 02. Activation successful."
She blinked, her pupils adjusting to the low light. In her mind, fragments swirled—dreams that weren't hers, memories stitched together by scientists, whispers of names she didn't recognize.
But one thing echoed louder than the rest.
Kara.
She stepped out, her feet touching the floor for the first time.
---
Meanwhile, in the hideout, Kara jolted awake in her cot, drenched in sweat. Her heart pounded like a war drum. It wasn't a dream—it was a connection.
"She's awake," Kara whispered.
Adrian stirred beside her. "Who?"
Kara's voice trembled. "The other me."
---
In the control room, Tessa picked up on the irregular signal spike.
"There's activity coming from the lower district facility. It's not a power flare—it's biometric."
Shade leaned over her shoulder. "One of the pods?"
Tessa nodded. "But not just any pod. This one's marked Prototype 02."
Adrian's brows furrowed. "I thought Kara was Zero-One."
"She is," Tessa said. "Which means this one came next."
Ronan pulled his jacket over his shoulder. "Then we go meet little sister."
---
Prototype 02 stepped into the hallway, barefoot on cold steel. She moved like a shadow—graceful, silent, deadly. The facility was empty, but she wasn't alone.
Dozens of bodies littered the ground.
Guards. Scientists. All executed with clinical precision.
Her hands were clean, but she didn't remember how.
On a terminal nearby, a red file blinked. She touched it.
A hologram of Dr. Elias Vane appeared.
"If you're seeing this, it means you survived the awakening. Good. That means the neural bonding held."
"You are the evolution. Not just a copy. Not a flame. A firestorm."
She tilted her head.
Firestorm.
Her name.
---
The team reached the outer edge of the ruins just before dawn. Kara's eyes scanned the darkness, heart pounding with a strange, magnetic pull.
"She's here," she murmured.
Tessa looked uneasy. "You think she'll be hostile?"
Kara didn't answer.
Instead, from behind them, a shadow dropped from the crumbling rooftop. A girl stood there—barefoot, expression unreadable. Her green eyes glowed faintly.
Kara turned slowly.
Their eyes met.
It was like looking in a mirror made of ice.
"Who are you?" Kara asked softly.
The girl cocked her head. "I could ask you the same."
Adrian stepped protectively beside Kara.
"You're Prototype 02," Tessa said. "You've been asleep for years."
"Not asleep," the girl replied. "Waiting."
"For what?" Ronan asked, gun lowered but ready.
The girl's lips curled into a faint smile. "For the fire to find me."
She raised her hand—and every abandoned vehicle in the vicinity suddenly lifted a few inches off the ground, rattling as if held by invisible strings.
Kara's eyes widened. "She has control over magnetic fields…"
"She's more than just a sister," Tessa whispered. "She's a weapon."
