Charts line the walls. A holographic display rotates slowly above the polished obsidian table. Lucien points toward a complex flowchart on one screen, while Kai and Elsuana debated projected yield margins from foreign investment zones.
Vaela sits at the head of the table, blinking slowly as she pours over page after page of complicated numbers and indecipherable business jargon.
"I'm sorry," she says after a pause. "Did we just spend ten minutes arguing over the structure of a holding company inside another holding company… under the hedge funder that finances the… what?"
Kai nods enthusiastically. "It's called a cascading shell, and it protects against cross-national legal interference."
Vaela raises a hand, and shoots him a thumbs up. "Cool. Got it. No clue what you just said. Carry on!"
