Chapter 20 - Coincidences

"So you are telling me." My father stopped for a moment, as if trying to process what he just heard.

"You decided to turn into a cat from all the possible forms."

"Yes."

"Then you got saved by a boy that by coincidence was registering his awakening the same day with a sister who has divine affinity."

"Right."

"That boy is a friend with the elves kingdom's genius prince who was kicked by his mothers with his sister that can detect lies, and also you and they are all the same age by coincidence. and all the time there you never saw any adults there except the prince's bodyguard."

"Correct."

"He is also by coincidence the first to get absolute bow Talent and 2 traits, without speaking about all his other talents. He also has 2 soul artifacts, space affinity, mutant wind affinity and purple lightning. And don't forget all the types of strange food he made."

"Y-Yeah."

He took a deep breath "their names are Aria and Raylin Crimson, right? Give me a minute. I will make someone investigate them."

He opened his bracelet and sent a message to someone. 15 minutes later he got a notification.

'That was fast.'

While reading. His expression softened a little.

"Well, that explains the adults part at least, and he most likely can be trusted for now. But unfortunately, he doesn't have an affinity for fate."

"What did you see?" I asked instantly,

I wanted to know more about him, though we were together for only 2 weeks. It was my first time meeting people the same age as me.

"In short, everyone in his family except his sister died due to the demons, his mother and grandmother got killed by the Dark Order—leading him to form his core, and his father was from the people that fought the The Sin Of Oblivion. A kid like him has a low chance to be a traitor."

"Oh..." I was speechless, I always felt that he acted a little mature, but it was understandable now. Looks like he had to grow up early.

My father noticed my expression and said: "Hey, there is another coincidence here, they are technically a princess and prince too."

"Huh?" I wondered if he was just trying to lighten the mode. Before I could say anything he added:

"Do you remember Seraphina Bloodborne? The former vampire queen? She is actually their grandmother."

He opened his bracelet again.

"According to the information, the vampires have been trying to take them from the elves since Crimson's death. You know how the vampires are sensitive about their blood relatives. But the elves always refused—saying that they were their citizens until they became adults. Too many coincidences, right?"

I…couldn't deny that—it was really suspicious.

"Well, maybe I'm just overthinking. The chances are low, but not zero."

"I think you are rig—"

*Ding!*

I looked at my bracelet, that was the tenth notification I got now. They all were a group invitation.

My father sighed. "Those brats are really stubborn! You can answer them now. I know you want to talk to them."

I hesitated. "I can tell them the truth, right? They can be trusted, believe me."

He placed a hand on his chin, thinking for a moment before saying:"Well, before you teleported, one of the Dark Order saw you. Unfortunately, I couldn't kill him. There is no point of hiding you anymore. Just don't say any sensitive things."

I opened my mouth, but I didn't know what to say.

Was that good or bad news? On one hand, I can finally have friends. On the other hand, I'm now on their radar.

I shook my head and ignored those thoughts. There was no point in thinking about that.

I opened my bracelet and accepted their invitation. Then started answering their questions one by one.

[Raylin pov]

'To think the vice principal was hiding something like that.'

Making breakfast. I recalled what happened yesterday.

Yesterday, we had the longest conversation with our former pet and current friend, Selene.

It wasn't anything special—we just found out that the random cat we found is actually half dragon and the adopted daughter of the vice principal of the Exalted Academy.

She said her father promised to reward me and Aria after we meet in the academy personally.

She also decided to share her affinity and trait with us—as an apology for knowing ours.

And guess what.

She had a unique "Lunar" affinity with a related physique.

The novel's protagonist has Solar affinity, and by coincidence I found his rival that has Eclipse affinity, and now a girl with Lunar affinity!!

Additionally, in the night, her trait makes her glow and gives her many boosts like regeneration double power. While the protagonist gets the same things but in the day.

I couldn't help but form some theories like if the protagonist had a dragon bloodline too and they were cousins or something.

And well…the possibility of someone manipulating my life just went up a little.

So, these were the important things in our conversation, everything else was just us having fun like…

Zephyr: Are you using your horns to hold bags?

Me: What with that stupid question? I'm sure she uses her wings for that, they are like a backpack.

Selene is typing….

Me: maybe she is typing a whole paragraph to say how stupid your question is.

Celestia: Maybe she is looking for emoji

Selene is typing….

Selene: I don't leave my home, the maids buy what I want ^_^

Aria: So you were really looking for emoji.

Selene is typing….

Anyway, there were more important things to focus on.

One of them was learning how to walk on the air from Aria before she went to the academy.

I could learn it from anywhere on the internet but if I had someone with perfect control in my home then why not ask for some help?

I asked her for help after breakfast, of course, she accepted.

[In the training area]

"Don't decrease your weight! You should do this without cheating."

"But I— "

"No excuses!"

While increasing my weight slowly, I looked under me.

I was standing in the middle of the air. Using my wind aura to enhance my legs to increase the wind resistance instead of decreasing it.

There was supposed to be a wind slab under me draining my mana.

But I couldn't see it.

I didn't know if it was strong enough to hold my full weight. I didn't know if it was stable enough to not rotate to the side. I didn't know if it was shattering slowly with my weight increment.

'Sometimes, I wonder if my affinity is actually good.'

Finally, I reached my original weight, and nothing wrong happened.

A smile tugged at my lips. "I think I understand it now."

Aria nodded. "Now try to move forward and keep making slabs with each step."

I took the first step .

Nothing happened.

I sighed in relief then took the second, the third .

But when I tried to take the fourth, I felt my leg touching something for only a second before disappearing.

"Fuck! "

I instantly made my mask cover my body, then enhanced my body and clothes with Space aura.

*BAAM!*

I fell on the ground, but didn't get serious injury, though it was still painful.

I heard Aria burst into laughter but I ignored her.

I groaned. "Ouch, maybe I should start studying the runes… for a change."
