"This…" Joff started, gesturing towards Kaelith, "Your whole arrogant and overconfident attitude, as though you can get all things with a snap, is the reason I'm not giving you a job. And have you somehow forgotten what you did at the fundraiser?"
"You mean the place where I put your little whiny friends in their place?" Kaelith scoffed.
"You know you should be begging me, right? I have the power to make your life better. Just admit it, the fundraiser you attended looking so well-dressed is what caused you to be poor now. Your father probably wasn't able to secure the deals he wanted at the fundraiser, and thus you need to go through all these lengths to make ends meet," Joff said with a confident expression on his face.
