Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: Am I Really the Chosen One?

Chapter 104: Am I Really the Chosen One?

"Divine trial? What divine trial? A god's test? I've never encountered anything like that."

Han Li displayed the most genuine reaction possible because he really hadn't undergone a divine trial.

"You haven't?"

"Then why do I sense divine power on you? Even your martial soul carries it, and it's even more concentrated there."

Qian Daoliu frowned, his expression serious. Han Li's reaction didn't seem fake.

"From what you're saying… gods really exist?"

"Divine power? Why don't you take a look?"

As he spoke, Han Li summoned his martial soul and handed it over.

Qian Daoliu carefully examined the bow, probing it for answers, but found nothing unusual. However, the sheer density of the ice and fire elements startled him. Judging by the purity of these elements, even the Angelic Martial Soul seemed inferior in comparison.

He attempted to analyze the traces of divine power but found nothing. He couldn't even determine its origin.

After some time, he finally returned the bow to Han Li, his expression still serious.

"First, let me answer your earlier question yes, gods do exist. Not only that, but my Qian family is the inheritor of the Angel God's legacy. And it's not just Spirit Hall there are other divine legacy forces out there, even across the sea."

"Sea God Island?"

Han Li asked with uncertainty.

"Yes, you guessed correctly. Sea God Island is one of them. That's why we must respect the gods."

Qian Daoliu's face took on a reverent expression, as if he were preaching doctrine.

"Oh, so are you planning to make me the successor of the Angel God?"

Han Li looked at him expectantly, as if he truly cared about the answer.

Qian Daoliu snapped out of his solemn state instantly, barely holding back a twitch at the corner of his mouth.

"No. We don't need you for that. My Qian family already has a successor."

"Then why tell me all this? You say all that but won't let me inherit it? And besides, I've never heard of you having any descendants." Han Li's expression was full of skepticism, as if doubting Qian Daoliu's words.

"If I say I have one, then I have one. I have a granddaughter. She's not in Spirit Hall right now, but I'll introduce her to you later."

Even with Qian Daoliu's years of patience, he felt an urge to smack this kid. But at least now he was convinced Han Li truly hadn't encountered a divine trial.

"Oh, alright then. Why don't you tell me more about divine trials?"

Han Li instantly switched back to an obedient expression.

Qian Daoliu felt an inexplicable discomfort in his heart. It was like biting into an apple and finding half a worm inside. Still, he quickly composed himself.

"As you said earlier, a divine trial is exactly what it sounds like a test from a god. It's how gods choose their successors. That means highly talented individuals, when in the right place at the right time, may be selected to undergo a series of trials. If they pass, they have the potential to become gods themselves."

"Does that explanation make sense to you?"

Qian Daoliu paused, looking at Han Li. The boy nodded in understanding.

"So when I sensed divine power on you, I suspected you might have stumbled upon a god's inheritance. That's why I came to ask you."

"You mean… a god has chosen me? They want me to take their place?"

Han Li put on an excited expression, looking at Qian Daoliu as if awaiting confirmation.

"I can't say for sure."

Qian Daoliu furrowed his brows, deep in thought. After a long moment, he finally said, "That kind of opportunity is yours alone no one can take it from you. Let me ask you a few questions. Answer what you can, and I'll help you assess the situation."

"Sure, ask away. I'll tell you everything I know."

Han Li agreed readily.

"The place you visited can you still enter it? And if you return there, do you believe you can gain more benefits?"

Qian Daoliu followed the logic of the Angel God's inheritance, posing two relatively safe questions.

"Of course I can go back. And I feel that once I reach the Soul King or Soul Sage level, my martial soul can evolve again."

Han Li spoke absolute truth.

The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well? He could enter whenever he pleased. Not only that, but he could bring others along.

As for his martial soul evolving once his level was high enough, he would consume everything in that place. Not a single drop would go to waste.

But what truly surprised him was that Qian Daoliu didn't even know about the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well's existence. That meant Guang Ling had kept it completely secret, which made Han Li feel a bit touched.

Qian Daoliu nodded at his response, already forming a conclusion in his mind.

To be thorough, however, he asked again, "Aside from that, have you ever felt like something was watching you?"

"Oh, definitely. Several times."

Han Li nodded enthusiastically. He had been watched by at least five or six God Kings that was practically confirmed by the Will of the World itself.

"Several times?"

Qian Daoliu was momentarily stunned. Han Li's answer caught him off guard.

"Yeah, at least five or six, but I can't see them." Han Li replied honestly.

"Something wrong, Grandmaster Uncle?"

After a long silence, Qian Daoliu finally spoke with a complicated expression.

"No… nothing's wrong. It just means you are extraordinarily gifted and blessed with great fortune."

"Yeah, I think so too."

Han Li smirked proudly, unknowingly mirroring Guang Ling's usual smug expression. He wasn't sure who had copied whom first.

"So, can you confirm it now? Am I really the chosen one?"

Han Li looked at Qian Daoliu with wide eyes, waiting for his answer.

"It seems so. Congratulations."

Qian Daoliu's gaze toward Han Li changed. If he truly had a divine trial, then at worst, he would become another Qian Daoliu.

"Remember never reveal this to anyone. Do you understand?"

Qian Daoliu let him bask in the excitement for a moment before his expression turned serious again.

"Of course, I understand. The Clear Sky Clan, right? If they find out, they'll send people to kill me just like what happened to Brother Qian, isn't that right?"

Han Li casually dragged the Clear Sky Clan through the mud.

Qian Daoliu was silent for a moment before realizing that "Brother Qian" referred to Qian Xunji. His mood grew complicated.

Forget it. This just means Han Li actually studied his history lessons how could he know the real story?

With a sigh, Qian Daoliu reluctantly answered, "Yes, that's exactly right."

"Don't worry, Grandmaster Uncle. When I become a god, I'll personally wipe out the Clear Sky Clan for you." Han Li vowed with great conviction.

"I believe you."

Qian Daoliu responded, the corners of his mouth twitching.

"By the way, your granddaughter my niece how old is she? When will she be back? As her uncle, I haven't even given her a welcome gift yet."

Han Li was quick to shift gears, adapting instantly.

"That won't be necessary. The immortal herb your master took for you was for her. And besides, she's older than you."

Qian Daoliu sighed internally. Talking to Han Li was exhausting. He suddenly sympathized with Guang Ling.

"Oh, you already sent one? Well, that's fine. It doesn't matter if she's older I still outrank her in seniority."

Han Li shamelessly played the seniority card.

"Enough. If you have any questions in the future, tell your master to pass them on. That's all for tonight I have things to attend to."

Tired of the conversation, Qian Daoliu stood up and left, not even bothering to make up a proper excuse.

Before disappearing, he released a flash of light, embedding it into Han Li's body.

"This will mask your divine aura. Now, you won't have to worry about others detecting it."

"Thank you, Grandmaster Uncle. Come visit again soon!"

As night fell, Han Li excitedly paced around his room before finally remembering to close the door.
