Xavier
I can't help but keep grinning when I think of just how adorable Riley is. She's now staying over at my place, courtesy to our parents' clever plotting. Before I left, I made sure she had her breakfast with me and took her medication.
'Come back early today, okay?' I was just thinking of her and here she was, texting me.
'Why would I do that?' I teased her.
'Pretty please? I just miss you already.'
'Okay. I won't be late. I miss you too.'
Riley's really my person, my soulmate. I was young and foolish to let her go. Never doing that again.
We had a long talk after she got discharged, about everything. We have a lot to work on to make our relationship work. Nonetheless, I'm one lucky man to have her back. I promise I won't mess this up again.
I was brought out of my trance when Kate made her entry into my office.
"Good morning, boss."
Something was off about her, I just didn't know what. "Are you okay, Kate."
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"So, I come bearing great news." She handed me the file. My eyebrows furrowed when I read it.
"I know what you're thinking, but this is such a great deal for us, boss."
"Ditching my fiancée as our brand ambassador for a mid-list model is your fantastic idea?!"
"Boss, we can't just sit on our hands waiting for your fiancée to come back on her feet."
"Get out." I was trying so hard to keep my anger at bay.
"Xavier, come on. Don't let your feelings cloud your outstanding judgement. You and I both know that I'm right."
I scoffed, not believing my ears. "You're dismissed, Kate."
Kate stomped out of my office.
She can't be serious!
