"Kate!" I turned around to see Josh approaching me. "What are you doing here?"
"Uh, I came to see a friend. You?"
"I'm here for a routine health checkup."
"Oh, okay." I replied.
"Well, you seem to be in a hurry. I'll see you around." He said, returning to his friend.
Now that I think about it, I don't even know what got into me. I made up my mind to visit Riley. But alas, her VIP hospital room is heavily guarded that a mere person like me can't possibly get in even if I tried.
I quickly drove back home. However, when I entered my apartment, I found it in a mess. My apartment was turned upside down. Was there a robbery?
I got ready to dial the emergency line when lo and behold, the culprit made their entry from my bedroom into the sitting room.
"Kate, you're finally home!" She's aged more from when I last saw her.
"Mother." I sighed, putting my phone back in my Jean pocket.
"So, I need some money."
I rolled my eyes, frustrated with how much cleaning I'll have to do. "Of course, you do."
"Come on. Don't be like that. I'm your mother."
I sighed. "How much?"
"2 million?"
"Excuse me?!"
"Kate, I kinda took a loan, and they've been on my neck about it."
"You're still gambling?"
"You know I have to take care of the bills when you're not sending me any money!"
"Mom! Can't you just stop! I've had enough of you and your ridiculous gambling addiction."
"You know, I carried you for 9 months and hustled day and night on the streets with no one to help me. And what? You're already fed up with me?!"
"Mom." She always does this, guilt tripping me.
Janet had me when she was just 18, and since she was an orphan and kicked out of the orphanage, she had to go back to the streets.
"You better have my money ready for me. Besides, I know you don't want me to tell anyone your secret." She smirked. "I'll be back. I need to smoke." She intentionally bumped my shoulder, banging the door on her way out.
I really hate that woman! How did she even find my home address? God knows how much time and effort it took for me to hide from her.
I come to a halt, realising just who could have instigated this. Coz there's no way she'd be able to find me all by herself. Chloe, that freaking b*tch! I've just had enough of her ridiculous antics.
I hit the send button. We'll see who's gonna have the last laugh now.
