Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Dumbledore Arrives

"System bro, can you explain 'charm' and 'shocked' again?"

Dolly tried to communicate with the system once more, but this time, it gave no reply.

This was the downside of not being able to communicate directly with the system; she couldn't get the final say on the interpretation.

But for now, Dolly didn't dare let the system know too much. She would have to figure it out on her own.

She went to her wardrobe, opened it, and looked at her clothes inside.

The various oversized princess dresses made Dolly's face twist in disgust.

If she were a beautiful Barbie doll, that would be one thing, but as a "beast girl," wouldn't wearing these be a joke?

Although everyone has the right to pursue beauty, Dolly's own aesthetic sense told her that these clothes did not suit her current form.

After rummaging through everything, Dolly finally found a simple, plain-colored dress.

Compared to the other dresses, it was unremarkable, but it had a high waistline.

This would create an artificial curve, making her appear much slimmer.

The old Dolly naturally didn't care about this; she only wanted more complex and expensive dresses.

But the current Dolly just wanted to start changing herself from this day forward.

After all, even walking was an effort for her. Such a physical condition made her genuinely worry about dying suddenly at any moment.

After washing up, getting dressed, and tying up her hair, Dolly opened her bedroom door.

Outside stood two faces familiar from the movies.

The equally obese Vernon, and a thin, blonde woman who looked fine at first glance, but upon closer inspection, you could see a hint of shrewishness in her features.

In her previous life, Dolly had naturally disliked these two negative characters, feeling they had made Harry's life miserable.

But now, looking at the genuine care and worry on their faces, Dolly felt a heartfelt sense of intimacy.

This was probably the emotion carried over from the body's original owner.

At this thought, Dolly also felt a little uneasy.

She didn't know where the original Dolly had gone. Was she dead, or had they swapped bodies?

Harry Potter was, after all, a world of magic, a world where souls existed.

With this in mind, Dolly decided to set aside her past-life prejudices and follow the feelings in her heart to accept these two people before her.

This way, even if the rightful owner of this body came looking for her one day, Dolly could face her with a clear conscience.

So, Dolly stood on her tiptoes and gave Vernon and Petunia a warm hug.

Then, she said with a sweet smile, "Good morning, Mum and Dad."

The couple was clearly taken aback by their daughter's small gesture.

Because although Dolly was a girl, and it wouldn't be strange for her to show a sweet and lovely personality, she was a carbon copy of Dudley. Besides her gender, she was virtually identical to him in every other aspect.

Dolly's current actions were as if she had become a completely different person.

And so, Petunia, startled, quickly touched Dolly's forehead, while Vernon asked in alarm, "Dolly, are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

Dolly knew her performance would certainly shock her parents.

But she had no choice. She couldn't act out Dudley's irascible personality even if she tried.

Although she had called herself short-tempered in her past life, lashing out at her close relatives with her fists was something she couldn't even imagine doing.

Fortunately, Dolly had already thought of an excuse.

Mimicking the version of herself from her memories, she crossed her arms and said in a grown-up manner, "Dad, Mum, I'm already 11 years old."

"The TV says that an 11-year-old is already half an adult. From today on, I will hold myself to the standards of an adult."

After hearing Dolly's words, Vernon and Petunia stared at each other.

Then they exchanged a glance, and both saw surprise in the other's eyes.

Their child had grown up!

They knew their child's personality was a bit unstable, but she was just a child in the past. There would always be a day when she grew up and became better.

The two were even prepared to accompany their temperamental daughter into adulthood, but they never expected her to mature at only 11 years old.

This was truly...

Petunia's eyes filled with tears, and she was just about to say something.

Vernon quickly tugged at his wife's arm, winking at her.

Although the two were flawed, negative characters in the original story, they shared a genuine love. Even when Vernon found out Petunia's sister was a witch, his determination to pursue her never wavered.

This allowed them to support each other through thick and thin to this day, and they shared a remarkable understanding.

Petunia immediately understood what her husband was trying to convey: their daughter's change might only be a fleeting phase. It was better not to get too excited or have high expectations.

So Petunia quickly wiped her tears, took her daughter's arm, and said, "Alright, our little grown-up, Miss Dolly."

"Let's have a grown-up birthday today. Your father and I will be with you the whole time."

Vernon nodded repeatedly, saying with a chuckle, "That's right, that's it! An adult's day starts with a wonderful breakfast!"

With Vernon on one side and Petunia on the other, they each took one of Dolly's hands. The three of them chatted and laughed as they went down the stairs.

This cheerful atmosphere came to an abrupt halt with the appearance of a boy wearing glasses and shabby clothes.

He was like a stranger in the family, always able to kill the atmosphere in an instant.

The lightning-bolt scar on his forehead seemed to be a silent reminder to Petunia and Vernon.

They had a witch for a relative. Harry might be a wizard too, and in the future, he might attract demons from the wizarding world and bring disaster and death.

Especially on Dolly's birthday, the mood of Petunia and Vernon visibly soured.

The fact that they both squeezed Dolly's hands painfully was the best evidence.

"Harry!"

Vernon yelled instinctively. "What did I tell you yesterday?"

"You are not to leave your room all day today, otherwise you'll disturb Dolly's birthday. Can't you remember that?"

"Do I have to drag you back there by the ear for you to understand what I'm saying?"

"You promised me! You promised me I'd even save you some cake!"

"And yet, you still break your word to disturb our family, is that it!"

Vernon's face was flushed purple with terror and rage, and Harry's face also reddened visibly.

Clearly, it was out of anger.

Anger is an emotion that knows no age, and it was the same even for Harry, who had been bullied since he was young.

So Harry clenched his fists and said, suppressing his fury, "Sir, Dolly just fell out of bed."

"It shook the floor and filled my room with dust. I just came out to get the broom to clean it up."

"I've finished cleaning now. I was just about to go back to my room, and I promise I won't come out again today."

Harry's words were reasonable and well-argued, but unfortunately, he had mentioned Dolly.

And especially for placing the blame on Dolly, that was a result Vernon could not tolerate.
