Chapter 2 - chapter 1

Just as Alex was deep in thought, a soft knock echoed from the double doors of his room.

> "Young Highness," came a gentle voice, muffled slightly through the ornate wood, "Her Majesty the Queen requests your presence."

He blinked, startled.

> The Dragon Queen. My… mother?

The words tasted foreign on his tongue.

> "I'll be out in a moment," he replied, voice steadying.

Rising from the bed, Alex caught his reflection in a tall mirror. Regal. Tall. A nobleman's frame cloaked in silken sleepwear embroidered with draconic patterns. His hair, once brown, was now a deep obsidian with subtle crimson streaks shimmering at the ends. His eyes—piercing gold slitted like a dragon's.

> "No going back now," he muttered.

---

The Throne Hall wasn't what he expected.

It wasn't cold or towering like something from a war novel. Instead, it was bathed in amber light, with soft flames dancing in crystalline braziers. Elegant tapestries and ancient murals adorned the walls, each telling a tale of dragonkind. The air smelled of roses and ash.

And there, at the far end of the hall, sat the Dragon Queen—his mother.

She was beauty incarnate. Long scarlet hair cascading like molten lava. Eyes burning with wisdom and warmth. She radiated majesty, but when her gaze fell on him, it softened into something he hadn't felt in years.

> "Alexion," she whispered, rising from her throne.

His breath caught. Alexion. That must've been his name here.

She approached gracefully, her heels silent on the marble. And then—she did something he didn't expect.

She embraced him.

> "My sweet child… you're finally awake," she said, her voice trembling. "You scared me. You've been asleep for two weeks."

Alex stood frozen for a second. The warmth of her arms… the scent of her hair… It was overwhelming. After so many years of loneliness, of forgotten birthdays and cold foster homes, this—this was the first real hug he'd felt in nearly a decade.

His arms moved on their own, wrapping around her.

> "I… I'm okay now," he said quietly, blinking rapidly. Is this what it feels like to be loved?

The Dragon Queen pulled back and cupped his face.

> "You've inherited more of your father than I imagined," she murmured with a soft smile. "But your heart is mine. Kind and strong."

She placed a kiss on his forehead.

> "Tomorrow, you'll begin attending Eldorath Academy. It's time you met the other heirs of the realm—and learned to wield your heritage."

Alex stiffened slightly.

> The academy… where the protagonist is.

Still, he nodded.

> "Yes, Mother."

---

Later that evening, back in his room, Alex sat at the edge of his bed, lost in thought.

> So it begins. The academy arc—the place where the protagonist starts gaining power, gathering friends, and… killing me.

He sighed, fingers tracing the pattern on his sleeve.

> I need to change the game. Get stronger, faster. But how?

And then—

A blue window blinked into existence before his eyes.
