Chapter 3 - the prank

Third person pov

The day began innocently. That should've been her first warning.

Cameron wore her favorite soft white blouse under the stiff school blazer, her lips tinted with red gloss, her chestnut curls tumbling loosely over her shoulders. She looked in the mirror that morning and didn't recognize herself. The girl staring back had softened. She looked… curious.

And the problem with curiosity was simple.

It always got her in trouble.

St. Lysandra's courtyard was alive with color. Ivy crawled over the stone arches. Bougainvillea petals danced on the wind like confetti. In the center of it all, Cameron stood beneath a sun-warmed column, flipping through her notebook while waiting for Avan. He'd promised to walk her to Lit class.

He said, "Ten minutes early. I'll be there."But Avan wasn't there.

Instead, Alan Kazan strolled toward her, hands in his pockets, mischief in his grin.

"Lost, gorgeous?"Cameron looked up from her notes, immediately on guard. "Nope. Just avoiding conversation."He smirked. "Then you're failing miserably."He was wearing the same blazer as Avan. Same shoes. Same scent. But somehow, Alan looked like blazing fire in uniform. Like he didn't belong in something so structured.

And the way he looked at her?It wasn't casual.it was different It was intentional."You waiting for someone?" he asked.

"Yes."

Alan stepped closer, head tilting like he already knew the answer. "Avan?"She said nothing."Want to know something about him?" Alan said, voice like a dare. "He draws better than he speaks. He feels more than he says. And he's a coward when it comes to girls."Cameron's spine stiffened. "He's kind."Alan laughed under his breath. "Exactly.""Meaning?"

Alan leaned in, his breath teasing her ear. "Meaning nice boys break hearts by accident. Bad boys do it on purpose and at least you see it coming."

Cameron's Voice – First Person:

"I should've walked away.I should've told him he didn't scare me.

But he did.

Because when Alan looked at me, I felt seen in ways I hadn't been before. Not the quiet, curious parts. The wild, hidden ones. And God help me, I wanted to feel it again."

"Let me walk you to class," Alan offered, extending a hand like it was some sacred invitation.

She hesitated.

He leaned in. "I swear, I won't bite"

" unless you ask." he winked She rolled her eyes but handed him her book. "Only because I don't want to get lost again."

"Liar," he whispered smirking

They walked down the stone hallways in silence, his hand brushing hers once, twice never accidental. When they reached the Lit wing, he stopped.

"I don't believe in accidents," he said. "You and me, here. This wasn't one."

cameron didn't answered she stood watching his mouth as he spoke..

"Cameron!" a voice called from behind

She turned.

Avan.

He stood a few feet away, eyes narrowed, holding a familiar sketchbook under his arm. His voice was tight."You said you'd wait."

Alan took a step back, the mask of charm slipping just slightly. "Relax, brother. I was keeping her company."

Cameron looked between them, confusion and guilt colliding inside her."You didn't text," she said softly.

"I told you ten minutes early," Avan replied. "It's twenty past."

"I..." she stopped. Looked at Alan. "You didn't say anything."Alan's smirk twisted. "What would've been the fun in that?"

The silence was loud.

Then Avan whispered something that cracked the air like thunder."You're not funny. You're sick."

And with that, he turned and walked away.

They didn't speak after that through out the whole day

"are you avoiding me?" Cameron asked unable to bear the tension

"what do you mean?"

"you barely said a word to me since"

"oh..."

"I'm sorry..." "I'm sorry I made you wait"

"it's totally fine" he said with a faint smile

"about our project... would you like to come over to our house to continue

there are lots of plants and it'll be a great help " he continued

"okay then"

Cameron stood up leaving.

The next day came too fast it was weekend already, waking up with a lurch feeling of excitement in her stomach Cameron hurriedly got ready to meet up with Avan. She wore a beige hamper and a black camisole.

Arriving at the address he texted her earlier she rang thedoorbell

"Coming" a feminine voice came from inside

" Hi good morning "Cameron said with a smile" I'm here to see Avan"

" Please come in "

The house was very big and well furnished with artefacts and sculptures

She was fascinated by the large portrait of the karzan twins that hung floor length

"you came " she turned

Green eyes calm serenade looking into her eyes

" Avan" she smiled

"You are a bit too early though missed me much"

He said leaning in mischieve playing at the corner of his lips.

She moved back almost over a vase close to her

He caught her right before she fell.

Just then a loud shatter echoes the vase broke behind them.

"What's going on here?" Avan came in seing them close up to each other.

Green eyes

"Avan…?"

" Then who …" she stopped realizing Alan played a prank on her "I'm sorry about the vase"

She hurriedly bent trying to pick the pieces

"There won't be any need it's broken and…"Alan bent down accidently bumping heads with her

Angrily Cameron yanked her hands, clouds of tears forming in her eyes

She walked out

"Cameron" He called following her.

She increased her pace

"Leave me alone"

"It's not that deep why are you…"

She interrupted "not deep

You think it's funny… playing with my feelings I want to let you know I'm not one of your stupid girls you play with one more inch close to me ever again and you're loosing your balls"

She turned to leave a car was coming on high speed before she could duck she got hit.

Alan rushed over

" Are you okay cam"her vision blurred and she blacked out.
