"Evelyn, wake up it's time to...." Mrs smith's voice trailed off when she walks into the room to meet Evelyn all dressed up. She sat in front of the mirror as she styled her hair.
"I'm all done mum, how do I look?". She asked although knowing the answer.
"You look amazing,dear".
"Thanks mum"
"But why dress so early. Normally I would wake you up but now....."
"...now Evie has grown up". She completed her mother's sentence.
"Come on, let's go down for breakfast".
They went downstairs, had their breakfast and sooner than later Evelyn was already in the car.
"Honey,I might come home late tonight. One of my clients at the beauty spa seems to have issues with my products. I'll have to go there today and might be late"Mrs Smith said to her husband.
"And you're telling me because...."
"I'm telling you about this so you won't get worried".
"Okay,then. If there's a problem you can't handle,call me"
"Can we get going already. I promised Mia I'll go with her to class today". Evie said in despair.
Her parents laughed but she was right. They had never seen her this excited about school so they had to go.
*************
"Evelyn, over here". Mia called out to her waving from across the hallway like her life depended on it. She ran to her and they headed for class.
"I heard there's a new theology teacher". Mia said to her.
"Really?".
"Rumour has it that he's very strict".
"Well that's none of our business".
Discussions ended as soon as they started when Mr Dave entered the class.
"Good morning class".
"Good morning sir".
"Come in please." He called out to a man standing outside the class. He continued "This is Mr Lewis. He'll be your theology teacher. I don't want reports from him about your misbehavior or disrespect towards him, okay".
"Yes, sir". They chorused.
He spoke in private with him for a while before allowing him to continue with the class.
***********
"Wow". Mia said as she sat down in the cafeteria." He is the most boring teacher I have encountered, so far".
"Looks like Mr Daniel has quite a competition". Evelyn added as she sat on the bench placing her food in front of her. That particular spot had become their favorite seat in the cafeteria. It had a wider view of the environment, nothing goes unseen from that spot.
"Tell me about it". Mia said as they laughed on. They had both become so close in just a few days although it was because Mia had almost the same features of Evelyn. They were literally classified as twins by most of the students.
"Oh and I was wondering if you could give me a tour of the school?. I mean I haven't been able to check it out properly". Evelyn asked with a cute smile on her face.
"Sure, I mean why not".
Soon after they had eaten, Mia decided to give Evelyn the tour she had asked for.
"... that's the lab and this... THIS is the most interesting part of the school; THE LIBRARY".Mia concluded in a sharp but rather excited tone as Evelyn had told her how much she loved books; Fantasy to be precised.
"Woah, this place is huge. I don't know where to....."
"Shhhhhhh". The librarian had interrupted her.
"Sorry". She apologized." I mean, I don't know where to start." She repeated this time in a whispered tone.
"I love you so much. Thanks you don't know what this means to me". Evelyn said happily.
"My pleasure, I noticed you've looking for the library for a few days now so I decided to show you. I'll leave you now besides I'm not a reader."
"Ok, I'll see you in class then".
"Okay, don't stay too long". Mia said moving backwards towards the door.
"I won't". Evelyn replied completely distracted. Mia was long gone before she moved from that spot to the fantasy and horror section. She picked one from the fantasy section and sniffed it.
"Ahhhhhh, there's that old book smell". She read and read, chapters upon chapters, the bell rang and she had absolutely no idea. Everyone else in the library left as soon as it was closing but she didn't know it was time to go. She didn't go for the class she was supposed to go for with Mia,she was lost in it's twist.
"Evelyn, Evelyn"Mia called out to her as she walked into the library with Mr Smith, Ted and Nate. When they finally spotted her amongst numerous novels, Mr Smith shook his head.
"Who told her about the library in school?". Mr Smith asked.
"I did".Mia replied.
"Well, you shouldn't have. She has a problem with novels" Mr Smith explained.
"Ohh I had no idea. No wonder she was so happy when I showed her the library".
Mr Smith sighed, went over to Evelyn and tapped her.
"Dad, what are you doing here?". Evelyn asked.
"I came to pick you up but I'm not....". Mr Smith didn't let her finish before pulling her along with him.
"Daddy, no I'm almost done with it after I'm done I'll come home". He kept pulling her till they were out of the library.
"I most definitely did not see that coming". Mia said laughing at how quickly Mr Smith pulled her away.
"I really don't know if reading is bad or not anymore". Mia continued as the walked on. Nate and Ted had nothing to say but exchange glances and laugh.
