They smothered Selene's face with a bed sheet that had been drying on the field earlier. They wanted to warn her for daring to speak ill of them.
As soon as Selene was brought down, one by one they walked over and laughed at her as she struggled to breathe.
They laughed because they saw Selene who kept moving, trying to be released even though she didn't say anything.
"Take that, you fuckin bitch! That's what you get for messing with us!" Stella snapped at her as she continued to laugh at her, as did the others.
However, all of a sudden Selene's body went into convulsions and she fell limp, causing them all to panic.
They didn't expect that Selene would suddenly have a seizure like that.
It caused a panic and a hustle, with some of them trying to cover up the incident.
"We have to take her to the medical room!"
"No way, if we take her there, they'll ask what happened to her!"
"That's right! If they find out we did this to her and she has a seizure and passes out, we'll be in big trouble!"
They began to debate the matter, thinking that if they took him to the medical room, the prison guards would punish them for trying to eliminate another prisoner.
"Our prison terms could be increased or perhaps other severe punishments!" said one of them who was frantically looking at Selene who was lying limp on the ground.
"She's still breathing. If we leave her alone, she could die after that violent seizure! Our punishment will be even more severe."
Amidst the commotion, Stella finally decided to hide Selene's body by taking her to the warehouse at the back of the prison building, since it was rarely visited.
They all agreed, although some of them tried to resist the decision. But they were also afraid to go against Stella's decision.
As they lifted Selene's body, they accidentally knocked over a barrel in the field, causing a loud noise and a few guards to come over.
"What's going on? What are you trying to do to her!" snapped one of the warders with a baton in his hand.
Other warders also began to appear to discipline those who were trying to escape from the field.
Panic set in again, especially as the warders saw Selene's body being carried away by them.
"Forgive us, this wasn't our idea but hers!" A frightened female prisoner pointed at Stella.
Not only her, but the others as well because they didn't want to get into trouble.
"Hey, don't blame me, you guys agreed to do it too!" said Stella, trying to drag them away as well.
They tried to explain, but the prison guards would not listen to their explanations. Especially after the earlier commotion. They were convinced that they had deliberately done this to Selene as a form of revenge.
"Because you have committed a serious offense, tonight you will not get dinner and you will be locked in your cell until morning and without breakfast. You will break stones until the afternoon!"
They were all wide-eyed with shock when they heard this, because the work of breaking stones was usually done by men but now it was them who got it as a punishment.
Unable to do much, they were taken back to their cells while Selene was taken by the prison guards to the medical room.
"Poor her, I heard she was one of the strongest prisoners who just arrived. But maybe she doesn't know the world in prison is tougher, so she's easy for them to bully," said a prison guard named Ronald.
"You're right. But it's her own fault for being too arrogant. She's so arrogant, who wouldn't be annoyed with her?" asked another warden as he flicked Selene's unconscious forehead.
Ronald was surprised and immediately pushed his colleague's hand away from Selene. Saying that he shouldn't treat Selene like that.
"She's sick, it's better not to disturb her until the doctor comes. Let's just stand guard in front of the room," said Ronald as he pulled his partner's hand to the front of the room.
Blam!
A few minutes later, a doctor arrived to check on Selene. He checked her heart rate, pulse and more.
"Everything looks normal, but maybe she's in shock from what just happened. It made her have a seizure, especially when her face was covered by the cloth," the doctor explained to the two warders who had been guarding her.
They looked at Selene's weakened body, could only sigh and wait for her to wake up.
"If the chief finds out, will he let us live? I heard she became his new toy," said Ronald's companion.
"That's still a rumor, just because Dumbo saw her sitting on the chief's lap doesn't mean they..."
The three of them then heard the distinctive footsteps of someone who sounded so heavy and also consistent in every step. It was as if they were not ordinary footsteps.
The prison guards immediately went out of the medical room. Upon seeing him, they stomped their feet to salute the well-dressed man who had just arrived.
"I heard there was a commotion in the field. Is she inside?" asked the man, who was none other than their chief, Caelum.
"Yes, sir! There was a commotion amongst the female prisoners that was caused by this one omission. We truly apologize for not supervising properly," Ronald said.
Caelum's eyes immediately turned to the door of the medical room and stared at it for a moment. He showed no reaction, but that was something they were used to seeing from him.
"You can leave." Without saying anything else, he pushed the door in front of him and went inside.
The two prison guards walked out of the medical room, following her orders.
Inside the medical room, the doctor explained what Selene was experiencing. "She must be allowed to rest under treatment. It is feared that she will have another seizure or some other problem."
The chief nodded his head, understanding the situation. "Leave us alone."
"Yes, sir." The doctor took his bag and left the medical room. Leaving Caelum with the criminal in the room.
Caelum stood by Selene's bedside, removing his hat. He gazed at the woman lying before him, lying with her innocent face as if she had never committed any sin in her life.
Like a prince looking at a sleeping princess waiting for her true love to come and kiss her.
He took a step closer, slowly approaching her face without showing any expression in front of her.
"Wake up, this is not the fairy tale you expected," she whispered. However, it still sounded firm and calculating.
A smirk instantly etched on her beautiful face, her eyes slowly opened. Showing her beautiful blue eyes when exposed to the moonlight from outside the medical room through the nearby gated window.
"Good morning, darling."
