Isaac's POV
We arrived in the port at exactly 1:33 a.m. I get out of the car and see my men, who are using binoculars to check the ships that are arriving.
"Boss, that ship just arrived, but it's not James's ship. What are we going to do, boss? We've been here for ten minutes, but we didn't see any of James's men roaming around while waiting for the ship," Jack reported.
My jaw clenched. Simeon's and Simon's words might be true. That ship was a bait for Ingrid! Damn it!
Why did I even give this task to Ingrid?! "Boss! There's another ship that appears!" Simeon roars. He gives me a binocular, and the others check on it too. "That's the ship!"
"We have to rescue Ingrid! Make sure you find her and secure her safety!" I roared.
We turn our backs to get our weapons when a loud and several explosions roar across the sea. We all look back, and our eyes dilate in surprise.
"The ship!" they all roared.
We can still hear the bombs roaring. The huge fire had completely devoured the whole ship. The explosion was so much that the people inside the ship were surely wiped out.
"FUCKKK!" I cursed in shock.
They stepped back when they saw how scary my expression was. The coldness of hatred and thunderous wrath was written in my eyes.
The last time they saw this reaction was when I saw my wife's and son's bodies, bloody and lifeless. My hands ball into tight fists.
"Boss, we have to leave now. The police will surely drag us in this incident! That might be part of James's plan. He will blame you for his daughter's death. Let's go!" Simon roars.
My palm turns to a fist. I grab my phone and dial James's number. He answers right away, and his devilish laughter makes me more furious. "I'll surely kill you!"
"You really think you can use the weapon I made against me, huh?! You're wrong! I made you a widower twice, Isaac! I will make your life miserable! Bwahahaha!"
I was about to speak when he dropped the call. I dialed his number again, but he didn't pick up, and when I dialed the third time, his phone was off.
"Damn it!" I roared madly.
I look at the sea again and see the fire devouring the ship as it sinks. We turned around and raised our guns when we noticed a presence on our right side.
"Put down your guns."
My eyes dilated when I heard a familiar voice. They followed her order and moved on each side. Ingrid walks closer, and Emilia is behind her.
"My apologies, but my first mission failed. I didn't manage to take the drugs and send them to the police officers. They are all burning."
She pointed at the sinking ship like it was nothing. That made me sigh deeply. "You're alive…?" I mumbled. She chuckled.
"Why? Does it disappoint you? Well, sorry. I'm fucking alive," she asserts.
Her expression changed. The calmness and coldness in her eyes give me a cold shiver down my spine. I feel like a dragon was wrapped around her, staring at me with such an unexplainable madness!
I take a step closer and grab her neck. I leaned closer and met her dangerous and lethal gaze.
"I don't care how you manage to survive, but you must remember that you have no right to die until I say so!" I growled thunderously.
She grabs my wrist and looks at me as intensely as I do. "Don't worry. I have no plans to die yet. You must remember that," she growls madly.
She slowly takes my hand off her neck but never lets go of my wrist. Ingrid turns around.
"Everyone is dismissed. You may take a rest now. Good job, everyone," she says, smiling. Her men were looking at her intently. "I'm okay," she says.
They were hesitant to leave but withdrew in the end. Emilia looks at me and gives me a warning glance before she leaves.
As soon as their car leaves, she lets go of me and slowly crouches down. Ingrid pukes and coughs several times. I frowned and saw how pale she was.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
I was about to crouch down either, but she stopped me. "All of you, turn around," she demands. I look at my men, and they followed her order.
"I said all of you!" she roars. I didn't. I lower myself and look at her.
"Who says that you can order me around, huh?" I ask.
She glares at me madly. "I don't care if you planned this, but I am telling you, I won't die until I kill him! You must bear that wrath until I finish my goal. So, you better brace yourself, Isaac Midnight." Her eyes were giving me an intense chill that could make anyone run, including me.
"You really think I came here just to see you die? I rushed my way here even if I'm drunk after I learned that your dad will use that fucking ship to kill you!" I roared.
I grab my handkerchief and wipe her lips. "You might be a weapon to me, but once you die, I promise you that your father will suffer for this. If that happens, he killed my wife once again. He'll surely pay for that!" I grunted.
I never thought I'd feel the same intense emotions that I did when I lost my wife and son. Ingrid is just a weapon for me, nothing else but… damn! I feel like I'm losing myself already. I grab her hand and pull her closer.
She looks surprised. I stood up and carried her in my arms. "Let's go," I remarked.
Simon opens the car door for us. I put her down in the car seat and get inside. The twins get inside and wait for the two cars to move on. The other two will stay behind us. "Did we have a water?"
"Yes, boss," Simon says.
It's Simeon who still drives the car. I grab the water and open it. I handed it to her. "I need to call James," she says. I look at her.
"No. Let him believe that you died. We searched the area, and he didn't leave any of his men or spies to see if you survived or not. Show yourself at the banquet party for underworld bosses that will be held this Saturday," I remarked. She didn't say a word and drank all the water in the bottle.
"I hate him. I hate him!" she whispers. Her head slowly leaned on the car door. Did Ingrid suddenly fall asleep…?!
