Chapter 23 - The Calm Before the Real Storm

The sun peeked out lazily from behind the clouds. Birds chirped outside the window, but inside the mansion of the Dark Heaven Society, it was anything but peaceful.

Priyanshu Yadav stood on the balcony of his personal villa—barefoot, shirtless, holding a steaming cup of tea. His chiseled body gleamed under the soft rays of morning light. But his mind wasn't calm. No, it was racing.

He had just crushed the elite group from the Heaven Sword Sect in secret, stolen an ancient artifact from under the noses of top cultivators, and framed the rival Black Flame Pavilion for it. The entire Eastern Region was burning in tension—but to the world, Priyanshu was just a new disciple, quiet, low-level, and unbothered.

That was the beauty of hiding in plain sight.

"I'll give the world the villain they want," he whispered with a smirk. "But only after they kneel before my righteousness."

Suddenly, a knock came at the door.

Knock knock.

"Enter," he said, not turning around.

It was Anaya—loyal, brilliant, and the only person who knew a fragment of his truth. She was wearing her usual blue training robe, but her eyes were glowing with urgency.

"Master, urgent news. A messenger from the Imperial Capital is here. He carries an invitation… to the Royal Trial of Bloodline Inheritance."

Priyanshu's eyes narrowed.

"Already?" he muttered. "They're testing bloodlines now?"

Anaya nodded. "Yes. And… they said only those with ancient or rare bloodlines can enter."

Perfect.

The Hidden Villain System glowed in his mind.

[DING! New Hidden Quest Unlocked!]Objective: Enter the Royal Trial without revealing your identity. Steal all attention from the heirs and silently humiliate the royal faction.Reward: Unlock Bloodline Slot 3 + Trait: God-Eyed Observer

He took a deep breath. "Then let's attend the trial. But this time… let's bring chaos."

Meanwhile, deep within the royal palace, princes and princesses were being gathered. The Emperor's fifth son, known as the "Mirror Blade," was sharpening his spiritual sword. He was known as a righteous genius and was tipped to win the trial.

"What of the new disciples from the outer sects?" he asked his attendant.

"There's one… from a low-tier region. Unknown background. Name: Priyanshu Yadav. Recommended by Grand Elder Yushan."

"Never heard of him."

"He's gaining fame lately. The Eastern Region is in disarray because of him."

The prince smirked. "Then I'll crush him in front of everyone."

Back at the Dark Heaven Society base, Priyanshu was already ten steps ahead.

"Prepare three teams," he ordered calmly. "Team 1 will infiltrate the royal city and plant fake evidence to frame the Crown Prince. Team 2 will silently spread rumors that the Emperor fears a 'ghost bloodline' rising in the shadows. Team 3… find out which princess has the 'Celestial Ice Vein.' I need her loyalty."

Anaya bowed. "Understood."

He walked into his hidden cultivation room—walls etched with runes, glowing blue stones pulsing with spiritual energy. He sat down cross-legged, closed his eyes, and whispered—

"System… unlock [Bloodline Merge Simulation]. Show me which two I can combine."

[DING!] Available Bloodlines:

Shadow Monarch Vein

Heaven's Cursed Flame

Frostheart Origin (Unstable – Needs Ice Catalyst)

Simulating Merge…Result: "Nether Emperor's Frozen Sun Vein" (99.8% compatibility)Warning: Requires Princess of Celestial Ice Vein to stabilize.

So that was it.

To become unstoppable, he didn't need to defeat the heirs… he needed to steal their gifts and turn their own destinies into his fuel.

Two days later, Priyanshu and Anaya walked through the majestic gates of the Royal Trial grounds. Cloaked in a plain black robe, he looked nothing like a threat.

But his eyes—those calm, cold, calculating eyes—shook the hearts of those who accidentally met them.

In a massive courtyard filled with proud bloodline heirs, noble geniuses, and arrogant young masters, Priyanshu stood quietly at the edge.

He didn't need to show off.

He was the kind of monster that didn't bark. He simply bit when no one was looking.

And this time, even the heavens wouldn't be able to stop him.
