Chapter 7 - Battle and Gains

Damien swung the pebble with relentless force. Combine with his increased Agility, his movement left behind a flurry of afterimages.

His attacks was very effective. But the stun effect could not last forever.

As the stun status effect gradually wore off, the skeleton warrior started moving again.

He wasn't afraid, choosing to continue attacking without reservation.

Though the skeleton is no longer stunned, it was still disarmed. Damien uses this opportunity when risk is still low in order to maximized damage.

His relentless effort easily dealt over a hundred damage within just four seconds.

'Now, I just need to maintain a good rhythm,' He whispered to himself, his breath a little haggard and unsteady.

At the same time, he kept in mind of his second skill, [Corrupted Holy Blessing], which can boost exp gained and waited to use it at the right time.

'Using it too early would cause me to lose ten percent hp… Unless I can afford to, losing hp this early is not a good start.'

Damien maintain perfect control of the distance between him and the range of the broken sword.

When the skeleton warrior step up, he would back off one step. When it retreat, he would then follow up with a step.

While doing all this, he continue to attack when the opportunity arises.

[-13 damage.]

[-9 damage.]

On the other side, Theresa along with [Bone 1] couldn't pay attention to Damien circumstances.

They were busy handling two skeleton on their own.

Thanks to the initial status effect on the skeleton, Theresa had an easier time landing a series of critical hit on her own.

Her movement was graceful and efficient as she dodges the skeleton clumsy attacks. It was a contrast to Damien's calculated step, but both achieved the same purpose.

Maintaining perfect distance while allow them to attack with the right timing.

In that moment, Damien shifted his focus slightly toward Theresa directly and immediately casted [Corrupted Holy Blessing] without hesitation.

[Ding! Your skeleton [Bone 1] has defeated a skeleton x1]

[Ding! You have earned 102 exp.]

[Ding! You have earned an additional 51 exp from (Holy Blessing).]

Theresa was shocked to see the additional exp gained, but she didn't have the time to ask questions and quickly took aggro of the second skeleton.

By now, [Bone 1] has tanked most of the damage. However, without an hp bar, she could only use her experience to gauge its status.

'If only I had an item to see monster status!' She sighed deeply.

To be safe, she decided to take the initiative to aggro the skeleton, as it is easier for her to dodge than Damien's skeleton.

Theresa and [Bone 1] maintained the same movement from before, steadily draining the hp of the skeleton.

While this is happening, Damien is occupied with the skeleton warrior, whose stats was higher than he expected.

'I have already deal over two hundred damage and my rock is about to break…'

As he look at the pebble in his hand, he can't help but wore a wry smile while stepping back to dodge the skeleton attacks.

'Do I have to start beating it with my hand?' His breath uneven, and despite his increased agility, his stamina couldn't keep up.

'Damn, my condition in the real world is clearly affecting me…'

On that note, he glances at the sword in the skeleton's warrior hand and immediately shook his head.

'I don't have the strength to use a sword… And sword are not good against skeletons anyways, blunt weapon are better.'

The skeleton continue chasing him, but he quickly retreated, even using the wall as a barrier to cause it to slow down.

With the status effect of taking 25% more damage from the holy blessing, he had to stay focused on dodging with precision.

Finally, after a long time, he heard another notification.

Immediately, he called out.

"Theresa! Give me your pebble!"

Without the slightest hesitation, she threw the pebble at his back which he instantly caught.

"Do you need help?" She asked, but looking at the state of the skeleton warrior, she was shocked to see its battered condition.

"No!" He yelled, his voice carried off the wall of the catacomb passage.

Holding two pebble in the palm of his hand, Damien rubbed them together to loosen his wrist before began going all in.

'I don't have to pay attention to my back anymore!' He shouted inwardly while charging forward.

With his speed, the skeleton warrior was startled to see its prey suddenly ramming at it.

Bang!

With a thunderous clap, Damien clamped two pebble together at the skeleton's warrior head, causing shards of bone to fall off form its skull.

'Damn, it's already breaking,' He cursed at the small cracks appearing from the center of the pebbles.

As a result of his attack, the skeleton was stunned for three more second.

Using this opportunity, he controlled [Bone 1] to began attacking while he himself also swung fervently.

[-11 damage.]

[-13 damage.]

[Ding! Critical Hit x2]

[- 20 damage.]

Finally, after a minute of beating the life out of the skeleton warrior, Damien caught his breath and tossed the pebble on the floor.

[Ding! You have defeated skeleton warrior x1]

[Ding! You have earned 305 exp.]

[Ding! You have earned an additional 152 exp (Holy Blessing).]

'Fuck, the skeleton warrior at this stage is too tanky.' He murmured, while gasping for air to catch his breath.

Clearly, his stamina is lacking compare to his agility attribute.

He sighed and glances at the series of notification. Immediately, a smile tugged at his lip.

[Ding! You have leveled up +4! ]

Name: Damien Clementine

Class: (C) Divine Saint ★★★★★

Species: Human

Race: N/A

Level: 6

Faction: N/A

Experience: 20/250

Stat points to allocate: 32/32

'4 levels in one fight? Not bad… The exp required would only go up from here.'

At this moment, Theresa approached behind him, then sat opposite of him.

He wasn't afraid that she could see his status window, because it is not possible for a player to see each other stats unless consent is given.

"Are you okay?" She asked in a soft voice, her face a little weathered and worn from running around.

Evidently, her stamina was not much better than his.

He nodded while barely casting a glance at her. Seeing his cold attitude, Theresa got a little uneasy.

However, Damien was fixated on his stats.

Growing up, he has always been this way.

And it's not that he had never tried to become close with someone, it's just that he seemed to lack the ability to. As though there was an invisible wall between him and people.

If he had to put it into words, Damien would say that he was born without a small, but important pieces in his brain that everyone else seemed to possess.

As a result, he was often baffled by human behavior, and his attempts to imitate it, however diligent, ultimate fell flat. But that was the past.

This strangeness made others uncomfortable. In short, he was a bit different, and people hated those that are different.

He assumed Theresa is no different.

However, contrary to his belief, Theresa didn't mind his attitude. Her curiosity is clearly show as she asked.

"How do you have the holy blessing skill this early?" Her voice tremble a little, and her breath still weak and somewhat forced a she speaks.
