Julian's words hung in the air between us, heavy and accusing.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I forced a trembling smile, though panic was already clawing at my chest.
Julian's eyes remained cold, unrelenting. "Don't lie to me, Natalie. Not anymore."
My heart hammered against my ribs as I quickly assessed my options. The usual tricks—tears, seduction, playing the victim—wouldn't work with him in this state. I needed to buy time, figure out exactly what he knew.
