After a silent drive back from the police station Tristain went to bed, having had too much action for one day.
When he had woken up, his mother had apologized saying she was too harsh yesterday and how he had made her proud.
He even saw his new body's father for the first time during breakfast.
His father had just come back early in the morning, having been doing overtime due to some project. Unlike his mother, his father was outwardly proud after hearing that Tristain had stopped a criminal.
He praised him repeatedly, saying Tristain did a good job.
This, of course, irked his mother who argued that Tristain would get more and more reckless if he kept praising him.
Despite the family drama, Tristain's thoughts were occupied, thinking about Uncle Ben and Peter.
That's why, after breakfast, he silently went back to his room, deciding to stop thinking about it.
Rather than stressing over every one of his actions, it was more efficient to think about what he was going to do next.
After all, he had chosen the path of a hero.
[Do you want to check your status?]
The prompt was flashing in front of him since yesterday and Tristain was excited to see what would happen next.
His only hope was that it would be something good.
He took a breath and opened his status.
The text of the blue holographic screen changed.
[Tristain Mercer]
[Race:]
*Human*
[Traits:]
*Superior physique*
*Gene lock*
[Skills:]
*Bullet time*
- Host's superior perception allows the ability to perceive the world slower than normal
He wasn't really swimming in traits nor skills admittedly, but it was good enough.
They were all self-explanatory.
Tristain mulled over his status screen, he was similar to an MMO character, all he was missing was an inventory and stats.
Anyway, he was overall happy, after all beggars can't be choosers
Though it did suck that he didn't get anything overpowered like most of Marvel characters.
Tristain couldn't fly, regenerate, control minds or threaten the entire universe so he was in a pickle.
But what he did have was future knowledge and balls of steel.
Suddenly another prompt appeared.
[Host will acquire traits and skills through heroic acts]
///////////////////
'I feel so light.' Tristain thought as he sprinted around the town, with houses passing by in an instant and wind parting for him.
He wanted to test his enhanced physique.
He was never fat in his previous life but not an athlete, but now he was outrunning Usain Bolt while barely trying.
After finishing running and flexing his biceps for a bit, he finally remembered a place that he could use to test his powers.
It took him a bit of time to find the place he was looking for.
An abandoned factory that had been abandoned for years.
Although Tristain's body didn't have much clue about why it was abandoned, there were rumors that there was a big accident here and after that, the company which the factory belonged to became bankrupt.
'Perfect spot to test my powers.' Tristain thought as he looked over the factory.
Tristain took a look behind him to see if there was someone else around and took a deep breath.
Then, he jumped.
And after a millisecond his hand touched the roof and then gravity took hold.
A grin split his face, a feat like this was all but impossible in his old world.
He soon calmed himself down, knowing that it was just the beginning.
Tristain walked to some nearby giant rusty pipes and clasped one lifting it with some difficulty on his shoulder.
The thing must have weighed at least 10 tons.
For the next hour Tristain continued testing his physique, like his senses, flexibility etc.
