Chapter 6 - A Study Genius… Me?

While observing everything, I'd already learned quite a bit about the characters from the original anime.

Once that buzz-cut teacher walked into the classroom, class began.

As expected, before the lesson even started, he went straight into checking homework.

Technically, I could've skipped the assignment since I'd been "sick" the past few days and wasn't attending class. But last night, I wanted to prove to myself—and everyone else—that I was serious about changing. So I called the teacher and asked about the homework, then sat down and finished it.

Believe it or not, that small act actually brought Mom and Doraemon to tears. They were so touched they said I'd finally grown up. Even I felt a bit embarrassed.

When the teacher came around to me, it seemed like he was going to just pass me over.

Not surprising—me not doing homework had basically become a routine. Even though I'd called him last night, I doubt he actually believed I'd follow through. Maybe he thought I just wanted an excuse to slack off again.

But when I opened my notebook and handed it over for him to check, he looked genuinely surprised.

"Nobita? You actually did your homework?" His voice was so loud that the whole class turned to look.

"Let's see…" he muttered as he flipped through the pages. "Wait—finished… and all correct?" His tone was a mix of shock and disbelief.

The classmates around me started gathering, trying to sneak a look. I could feel my face burning.

Then the teacher walked up to the front of the class holding my notebook.

"Last night's assignment… only Nobita completed it—and got everything right," he announced.

The classroom buzzed with chatter. Even Dekisugi looked stunned. The homework had been a bit tricky. He himself had gotten one of the final problems wrong.

"Nobita, come up here and solve the problems again on the board."

The assignment was just some multiplication, division, and basic fraction addition and subtraction. Honestly, stuff at the elementary school level. With the education I went through in my previous life, I'd have to be possessed not to know how to do them.

I went up, and in just a few steps, re-did all the problems from last night.

When I stepped down from the platform, the whole class was frozen. Then, slowly, they began to clap.

The teacher beamed. "Everyone should learn from Nobita. Even while sick, he didn't forget to study and do his homework. This is a huge improvement. Keep it up, everyone!"

Back at my seat, Shizuka turned to me, smiling sweetly. "Nobita, that was amazing!"

I scratched my head, embarrassed. "Nah… I'm still nowhere near your level."

Shizuka's always been the kind of person who's genuinely happy about any small progress I make—even more than I am myself. Her cheeks were flushed pink, like little apples. Honestly, I just wanted to take a bite.

"Hmph. Don't get cocky, Nobita. It's just one homework," sneered Suneo.

"Yeah, don't act like it's a big deal," added Gian.

Of course, only those two would say something like that.

It's that weird kind of logic: you don't want your bro to suffer, but you really don't want him driving a luxury car either. A friend's failure is sad—but their success somehow stings more.

And suddenly, I felt this wave of nostalgia.

Back in high school and college, I used to mess around like this with my dormmates all the time. The teasing, the laughter… it was all so familiar.

But I can't go back.

So, to honor all my single bros from my past life—I'll carry their legacy into this one and make sure my new life is smooth sailing... with a big, glorious harem.
