Chapter 12 - Focus

Terri had enjoyed her time with Andy, Eve, and Phil over the weekend. Sunday had been a day for sleeping in and hanging in her dorm room. Eve and the guys came to her with a movie. It was a comedy. They also brought icecream, so she couldn't resist. Andy had only gave her a peck on the lips before leaving to head home.

Eve and Phil had made out and licked icecream off each other's faces which Terri found gross. By the look on Andy's face, he did as well. So much for Eve's boundaries, Terri thought but didn't say.

Monday was back to class and work. Terri's classes were going well. She did great on her math quiz with all the help Andy had given her. Work was a different story though.

"The sand was more of a dark tan color and the waves were lighter blue." Terri told Andy while he continued to tweak his drawing. She was trying her best to make it look just like her vision.

Andy was getting frustrated. It had been a couple weeks of fixing the same drawing of Terri's vision. Terri had started feeling bad correcting his sketches all of the time.

"Let's look at the samples that I brought." Mary suggested. "Andy, why dont you take a break, dear. You look exhausted."

"Thanks," Andy replied. He got up slowly looking defeated and, yes, exhausted. He walked over to the doorway. "I'll get us some drinks." He went out and shut the door behind him.

"His father is to hard on him. He demands perfection and when Andy can't give perfection he gets punished." Mary told Terri.

Terri raised her eyebrows. She hadn't realized this. She was now concerned for Andy and felt even worse with being so particular about the drawing.

Mary moved to the swatches and pulled a few out of the pile on the nearby table. "His mother is his savior l. He has a hard life." She continued to tell Terri while showing her the samples.

Terri sighed loudly while taking the samples from Mary. "I feel so bad telling him his sketches aren't correct. I can see he is trying extremely hard." Terri looked up to Mary.

Mary kept her face neutral. "Just think through the vision for the coloration."

Terri closed her eyes and recalled the vision. She pinpointed the colors of the sand and the waves. She then opened her eyes and looked at the swatches. The saddle tan looked exactly the right color. She pointed to it. Then, go figure the blue that matched would be called blue wave. Terri pointed at that sample also.

Mary took both samples and ripped them from the others.

"Those two are spot on." Terri spoke knowing for sure this time.

Mary put the samples at Andy's work station.

"Terri, why dont we take a walk." Mr. Clingman told her reaching for his cane.

Terri hurried to help him up, then took his arm in hers. Terri had found out the second day of training that Mr. Clingman is blind. He also is very frail. Terri walked with his slowly to the door.

Just then, Andy came back looking somewhat refreshed. He stepped aside to let them through the doorway. Terri gave him an it will be okay smile on her way out.

Once out in the square, Terri found a beach and had Mr. Clingman sit. It was a beautiful day. The leaves were starting to change to orange. Terri took a deep breath of fresh air.

"I know you are worried for Andrew, but he is a strong, accomplished boy. He will make it. Let's talk about you. Have you gotten any new visions of David or any other new visions since we spoke last?" He asked her.

He may be blind, but he couldn't always sense when Terri was feeling out of sorts.

"Actually laughed, no, I haven't and it's been bothering me. I use to get visions at least once a week and sometimes a few times a day." Terri looked around the square. There were a few students at picnic tables laughing. They're were squirrels running from tree to tree. It was peaceful out here.

"It is not uncommon to have dry spells, as I call them. This is especially true when a vision is being replaced many times in your mind." Mr. Clingman told her. "As far as I've heard the drawing is close enough for Mr. Galthan and Mr. Redman to start analyzing the location. They will have a lot of help from Andy and Mary. This will give you free time and your visions should begin to flow once again."

"Andy is the one who needs a break." Terri told him.

"Andrew works better on overload. His favorite part of being a guide is locating soul Searchers visions. Finding the location of the beach, will be one of his greatest accomplishments as a guide. After the location is discovered he will get a break also. A short one however for then the deployment team will be prepped."

Terri was both excited and nervous about deployment. It would be her first big trip anywhere. The farthest away she had ever been was when she went to Disney World with her parents when she was 10. Her parents had saved for a long time to be able to afford the trip. It was one of her founders childhood memories.

"Are you nervous for deployment?" He asked her after a few moments of silence.

"Yes, and excited too. I just don't know what to expect. Will it be all struct work or will we get some tourism type of experiences?" Terri asked. She was hopeful for at least something to look forward to.

"Well for you, Andrew, and Eve there will be many tourism attractions. For you are to appear to be there on scholarship for a history class. You will be going on tours, going to the beach, and many other places during the day. You will work in the evenings and at night. It will be fun, but you will be worked as well." Mr. Clingman explained.

Terri wondered if there would be anyone else with them, but didn't ask. It had begun to sprinkle. "We should head back in, its about to rain." Terri told him. She stood and handed him his cane.

"I had a feeling it would. My joints had just begun to ache." He told her while standing.

Terri took his arm and lead him back inside. She walked him to his office, then headed back to her dorm. She knew Andy would wonder why dishes didn't come back to meet him. She had a more important thing to do right now.
