Saku pushed the thrust lever forward. The engines roared. The ship shook as it lifted off the hangar floor. Dust and leaves blew everywhere as the roof opened slowly, revealing the night sky above.
"We're flying," Sharmitha whispered, holding her seat.
The ship rose higher, breaking through the treetops. The stars were bright. The city ruins were far below, barely visible.
Then
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Warning lights flashed red.
Sharmitha's eyes widened. "Something's wrong!"
The ship jerked sideways. A loud BANG echoed from the back.
Saku yelled, "We're losing balance, hold on!"
The ship tilted, spinning as it fell. The sky twisted, then the city below rushed up toward them. Lights, buildings, and shadows all blurred together.
CRASHHHHH!
The ship smashed through the roof of an old skyscraper, tearing through metal and glass like paper. Sparks burst out. Inside, Sharmitha screamed as her seat jolted hard. The ship crashed down the side of the building, then slammed into a broken road with a bone-shaking THUD.
Smoke rose. The right wing was bent. One engine coughed sparks.
Sharmitha groaned, sitting up in her seat. "We're down. We crashed…"
Sakudara was already moving. "We crashed into the old city. The one full of monsters."
Outside, the air was thick and cold. Fog drifted through ruined buildings. Something moved in the shadows. Then growling. Low. Hungry. Close.
Eyes. Dozens of them. Glowing yellow and red in the dark.
The monsters were here.
Long claws scraped the walls. Heavy feet stomped on broken stone. Their bodies were twisted, skin like black stone, teeth sharp like blades. The first one stepped into view tall as a tree, mouth hanging open in a silent roar.
Saku jumped out of the ship, landing on the cracked road. He pulled his sword from his back. It gleamed with a soft, blue light.
He turned back and shouted, "Sharmi! I fight you fix the ship! Fast!!"
Sharmitha's hands flew to the controls, heart pounding. "Go! I'll try!"
The monsters rushed forward.
Saku charged toward them, sword raised, yelling.
Inside, Sharmitha breathed fast, fingers shaking. She pulled open a sparking panel, eyes wide. "Please, please work…"
Outside, the city echoed with roars, footsteps, and the clash of steel.
What's could happen to them ..?? Will they survive...?
