Chapter 8 - Trapped [2]

Leon's friends exchanged glances before cheering as well.

"Go on, get up there!"

"Come on, sing us a song!"

The people nearby quickly caught on to the situation—just a group of young people playfully pushing their friend into something he hadn't expected. Though they felt a bit sorry for him, fun was still fun, and so they joined in the cheering.

"Go on, son!"

"Don't embarrass your friend—get up there!"

Seeing the commotion his friends had stirred, Leon could only force a wry smile. But at this point, it would be far more embarrassing for both him and his friends if he didn't go up.

Leon smiled and stood. "Alright, alright—I'm going!"

"Woohoo!" the others cheered.

As Leon walked toward the main stage, his appearance stirred a bit of a commotion.

"Whoa, who is he? A model?"

"Hey, his eyes are stunning—are those contacts?"

"He's really handsome…"

"…What a dashing young man. Just like me in my youth!"

"…Stop being so full of yourself, Dad!"

Leon smiled at the people as he passed, immediately capturing the attention of several young women.

"This guy really is too attention-grabbing…" Alan shook his head, earning nods from both Frick and Bill.

Standing on the podium, Leon instantly felt a wave of nervousness as all eyes turned to him. Even though he was used to attracting attention, being on stage for the first time in front of a crowd made his hands clammy.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Sorry, everyone. This is my first time on stage. Honestly, I'm really nervous—and I didn't even want to come up here. But if I didn't, my friend might've left me by the roadside and beat me up for embarrassing him."

The audience burst into laughter.

Leon smiled. "My singing might be a bit... awful. I'll admit it, even though it hurts. But I'll try my best not to hurt your ears."

"Haha~"

He whispered something to the band beside him and received a nod in return.

Soon, the sound of music filled the air. Everyone's ears perked up as they immediately recognized the legendary tune.

♪ "Well you only need the light when it's burning low~"

♪ "Only miss the sun when it starts to snow~"

♪ "Only know you love her when you let her go…"

♪ "Only know you're happy when you're feeling low~"

"Only hate the road when you're missing home\~"

"Only know you love her..."

"When you let her go~"

...♪..♪..♪...

The soft strumming of the music and Leon's slightly husky yet captivating voice made the café atmosphere feel even cozier.

The song told the story of a man who regretted his actions and loved a woman who had already left him, yet was trying to let her go.

Everyone had experienced love at some point, and once they had it, they often took it for granted. But when it was gone, that's when the regret would settle in.

Everyone had done things they came to regret, and this song brought back memories—memories of past mistakes they wished they could forget.

Leon's voice grew stronger, his initial nervousness transforming into passionate energy as he sang.

The guests, moved by the moment, joined in singing as well.

"Only know you're happy when you're feeling low\~"

"Only hate the road when you're missing home\~"

"Only know you love her..."

"When you let her go…♪♪.."
