Everyone who was eating or drinking around the fire turned over to look in the direction of the entrance of the village.
There, an old man could be seen standing wearing tattered clothes. He had a long white beard reaching his chest, and wore oval glasses attached to a silver chain — the kind old folks use to keep them from slipping.
He wore a long coat with side slits, a tight vest underneath, and sturdy boots. Strange symbols marked his clasps and rings, and a thin chain ran from his ear to his neck.
Silence covered the whole area as Patrick got up from his seat walking over to the old man.
"I am Patrick Moriya, head of Bosfield Village. May I humbly ask the reason for your esteemed presence?"
"I was wondering if I could give my blessings to this little child, and maybe find a place to spend the night in."
Patrick heard the voice, but he found something weird. The smiling old man's mouth didn't move as the voice came.
He instinctively turned around to look at Kaizen only to see the old man playing with the baby.
Multiple gasps left the place, all of astonishment and awe.
"This man is an Ascendant!"
Whispers rippled through the crowd like wind through leaves.
Some stepped back instinctively.
Children peeked from behind skirts, eyes wide with wonder and fear.
"An ascendant?! Why is such an entity here?!"
_Woah! This old man's a magician!_
Kaizen's baby hands clapped instinctively, a wide grin lighting up his face.
"hoho! Little one, you like the trick I did, wanna see more?"
Spoke the old man, bringing his hand closer to Kaizen as light particles formed over his hands, forming an Airship in his hand.
*That's the thing I saw when I came to this world!*
The old man came closer to Yuki and whispered something in his ear.
Yuki's expression changed as he heard that, and the expression was noticed by old man.
Looking at that expression, he smiled as he got up.
"Young Lady, you are very fortunate to have such a child, he's destined for something great."
"Really Sir Ascendant?"
The old man nodded, as he sat next to old man Carlson, taking the beer in his hand and drinking it.
That night the party continued for a long time, and everyone enjoyed the presence of an Ascendant on such an occasion.
The music grew livelier as stars blanketed the sky.
Torches flickered, casting golden halos around dancing villagers. Even the elders clapped in rhythm, forgetting their aching bones for one night.
Kaizen couldn't understand what was going on, but he understood that magicians in this world were revered by the common people.
He didn't know anything about this world, and was ready to learn more.
Three days later.
Kaizen sat cross-legged on a low bed, surrounded by scattered wooden toys.
The floor creaked under him, and the scent of old pine from the handmade toys filled the air. He absentmindedly tapped a wooden wolf against a block tower.
_Everyone from the village has been coming all these days to play with me or give me some gifts._
_Why does everyone love my parents so much?_
What he doesn't know however is that's not the only reason. It's his unnatural charms as well.
*Bang!*
The door to the house opened as Patrick entered the house.
"Amaya! Where are you?"
He called out loudly, scanning the house for Amaya.
"I'm here! What happened?"
Amaya, Kaizen's mother who was washing dishes in the kitchen came out of the house as she asked.
"She's going into labor! Get some hot water and towels—quick!"
"What? Already?"
"Don't ask questions! Go! Go! go!"
"Going!"
Amaya left running outside the house, going in a different direction which Kaizen couldn't see from outside the window.
*Is someone else having a birth as well?*
Thought Yuki, anyway Yuki decided to sit back and think over what's happening.
*Okay so I'm in a new world, I can see that. There is magic in this world and magicians here are called Ascendants?*
*It's clear that I have to become one as well, but how to become one?*
"Buu-Bua!"
Kaizen tried to call over Patrick to ask what Ascendants are. Finding no response, he decided to pick up a wooden toy and throw it in his direction.
*Woosh!*
*Bonk!*
"Owww! Ah! What's that?!"
The Wooden toy which looked like a horse gave a headshot as it fell on the ground.
Patrick welped in pain as he started finding the source of his pain.
"Hahahahaha"
He saw the little devil sitting on the bed laughing at Patrick.
"You-! Aren't you a naughty one? Bullying your father from the start?"
*Hahaha...I forgot we have language issues, gotta learn first.*
And hence five years passed, just like that.
Nothing much happened during that time. Kaizen was now five years old.
He was getting spoiled rotten by every person in the village.
Patrick and Amaya were well aware of that, but they were helpless. They were charmed by this little devil that they couldn't bring themselves to scold him.
Luckily Kaizen was a well-behaved child.
Currently, Kaizen was sneaking around the house.
His destination: The Hidden Kitchen Shelf which he needed to get to.
"I have to get there in five minutes, or mother will come!"
He mumbled sneaking towards the kitchen slowly.
*Step. Step.*
Slowly and steadily he walked towards the kitchen, his steps were well calculated making sure no sound was created.
Nobody knew where his mother could pop out from.
*creek.*
*Gasp!*
He gasped as he looked around the kitchen in fear, but he couldn't see where the noise came from.
Finally, as he entered the kitchen and opened the shelf door, suddenly:
*Grab!*
"Now what do we have here? A Thief?"
"Father!"
Kaizen gasped as he looked around at the person who grabbed and picked him up.
"How about I join in the robbery?"
But little did they know... a silent terror approached from behind, armed with a wooden spoon and motherly fury.
The final boss: Mom.
Her eyes locked onto the two thieves. One wide-eyed boy. One guilt-ridden man. No one escaped the spoon of justice.
