Chapter 3 - Ability bypassed

She suddenly collapsed onto my body. I was so surprised and was about to push her off of me, but she seemed to have fallen unconcious.

I hurriedly carried her into the room, before placing her gently onto the bed on the right side of the room.

I hastly check her for any injuries, her legs, arms, torso, head, but found absolutely nothing. So its possible that she might have been poisoned.

I rushed out of my little home, and planned to call someone for help. But something was off.

There is so many people just wandering around here minding there own business, and yet she chose to come to me?

BANG

My body suddenly moved on its own, hopping to the right and narrowly dodging the attack. The crowd of people ran away and just left me and my attacker alone.

I almost tripped and fell though, since I'm not actually notified by anything about the attack but rather just suddenly moved away.

Ignoring that I just turned around, to see who attacked me, and Surprise, surprise. It was the girl who I let into my home. Now I see why Talos says to never open the door to strangers.

She was dual-wielding some sort of enchanced flintlocks. Which I did have me a bit on edge, but bevause of my Writer's eye, I think I have nothing to worry about.

"I have to admit, you are a great actress" I joked, she didn't even react to it, which did hurt my feelings a bit.

"Not even a smile?" I chuckled, but still no response. Although my feelings were getting even more hurt, this just tells me she's somewhat experienced. She looked exhausted, and still somehow managed to look cold.

She sighed, before firing another shot. My body ducked under the bullet with ease or so I thought.

"Ow..." My body can't actually handle the speed from dodging the bullets, thankfully I realized it quickly and now knew I had to quickly disarm her.

She just stared at me, and not going to lie, it felt as if the devil was staring at me. I could have sworn I heard the screams of the people she killed.

"Not a talker?" I asked, confidently standing straight back up as if nothing happened.

BANG

BANG

I just hopped to the left and right, which my body seems to be able to do without hurting much.

While she was reloading, I quickly had my cards fly out of my little home, and float around me in a defensive position.

"Huh?" I bright blue floating symbol suddenly spawned beside me, it had the symbol of a flintlock. I quickly backed off thinking it was some type of trap.

BANG

She fired another shot at me while I was backing away from the floating blue symbol. Resulting in my body dodging to the left while running in the same direction, and making me almost eat the ground.

"A distraction?" She suddenly rushed straight towards the floating symbol, and managed to touch it only for nothing to happen.

"Too ba-"

BANG

She didn't even let me finish my sentence, and just fired another shot anyway. So of course, I knew my body would just automatically dodge it easily.

"Damn...I got too cocky" I mumbled to myself. My body didn't dodge it for some reason, I didn't know why since the entire point of the first trait of 'Writer's eye' was to dodge easily.

"You really shouldn't have come here, uninformed about this story" She said, with a hint of boredom in her voice while reloading her flintlocks.

"Wow, another guardian in this city, didn't think I would be able to meet one" I chuckled, while slowly standing back up properly and balancing myself using my left leg.

"I''m not a monster like you" She responded, while putting away one of her flintlocks into her pocket, and suddenly taking out a cigarret and some steampunk looking lighter. I guess the tecnology is somewhat advanced here.

"Monster?" I asked,in confusion while adapting to the pain from my leg.

"I really don't need to explain" She sighed. Before firing another shot at me, which I dodged easily.

"This woman..." She was trying to forcibly make me dodge by ducking, since that was cause the most pain to my leg, and it was working.

I needed to get out of here fast, and took a few steps back while watching her closely.

"Running won't work here" She suddenly stated, not even paying attention to me.

"What?" Confused, I looked around the area. But saw nothing out of place at all. Until she pointed to my little home that is.

Since she wasn't attacking me at all, I went along with it to figure out a plan. So I limped towards my home, passing the shop part of it and entering the bedroom.

"Damnit" I saw the girl's body laying on the bed, uncouncious. But I also saw my body on the ground, also uncouncious.

BANG

"Ack! " I was shot, this time it was in the stomach. I collapsed onto the ground, And crawled to the nearby, and placed my back against the wall, while breathing heavily.

I could hear her aproach me from behind, her footsteps growing louder with each step.

"Mind telling me what's happening right now?" I chuckled, brushing off the pain.

"This...My Soul domain, a domain where I decide whether you live or die. Perfect for torture" She explained, coldly.

"Yep I can see that" I groaned, covering the wound with my hand, to try and ease the pain, which did not work at all.

"This city, this Story, trusted you people to protect us. And what happened instead? All hell was unleashed" she explained, while reloading her flintlock. She stood right infront of me, before crouching down to my level, and pressing her flintlock against my chest.

And then another floating symbol spawned next to her, She touched it.

BANG

I shouted, coughing up blood. She lowered her flintlocked down, and dropped it onto the ground.

"I forgot to mention this, but if a person who can cast a domain fully masters it, then they can change anything inside it" She explained, looking at me dead in the eyes.

She curled her right hand into a fist, before striking me in the face with a strong right hook.

My body didn't move, she must have disabled my auto dodging. To be fair, I just unlocked the first trait of writer's eye so I don't know its full capabilities yet.

"I think I got that" I groaned, while giving her a thumbs up. Her expression remained the same, and she started to just continue punching me in the face as haed as she can.

"What will you do now? Cry? Beg? None of that will do anything. You brought this upon yourself" She said, punching me harder.

"Nah, just hit me as much as you want" I replied, groaning in pain. At this point a few bones in my body were broken, but I remained silent, letting her lash out on me.

"Don't think that because you said that I'll reconsider and stop" She replied, hitting me harder.

The tired and cold look on her face was starting to change. She looked more angered, veins were starting to pop out from her face.

This girl is more or less the same age as me, and yet when I looked at her eyes, it was as if she saw her world end.

She needs this, she's bottled up so much anger that she could possible unleash it on the wrong person. So I don't care how many times she will hit me, I'll take the blows.

[1 HOUR LATER]

"Hah...How does it feel?" She asked, out of breath. Her heads were covered in blood, while I was barely staying concious as my body was full of bruises, and broken bones.

"You tell me" I replied, trying to smile but ended up coughing out blood instead.

"Why aren't you mad at all? Isn't this humiliating? To be defeated by a nobody?" She asked, Her expression changing to a more confused one.

"I don't care about that, it's meaningless. I am a guardian, and my brother assigned me to protect this city and everyone who lives in it" I replied, with a hint of determination.

"So hit me all you want, if it makes you feel better then go for it, maybe that's not enough no?" I forcibly pulled out one of the nails that was holding a piece of the wooden flooring together.

I slowly, opened her right hand and placed it on her palm. She looked at it, before looking back at me, confused.

"Stab me with it! I don't care how much it hurts, I don't care whether or not I can survive! I care about YOU and all the other people who live here!" I stated, more determined than ever.

"I don't know what the other Guardians you have met did to you, But I'm not going to do what they did!" I stated, determined, before almost choking on my own blood.

She stayed silent, staring at me dead in the eyes, holding the rusty nail in her hand. Her gaze didn't waver, and she slowly moved the nail closer to my neck.

"So what will you do?" I smiled, confidently. She then pushed the nail foward, so I closed my eyes, getting ready to take the hit.

"..." I thought she slowed down, to make it even more painful for me. But when I opened my eyes, I was surprised to see her hand right beside my head, with the nail stuck into the wall.

"You win, Guardian" She said, before snapping her fingers. The echoing sound of the snap could be heard somehow, and then everything fades to black.

"GAH!?" I jolted awake instantly, before letting out a sigh of relief after realizing I was in my actual body now. I stood back up, feeling no more agonizing pain.

I could hear footsteps, they were getting quieter after each step. I turned to face the doorframe and saw the girl leaving.

"Hey w-"

"If you want to keep talking to me and figure out what's going on, go to CL academy tonight" She stated, before leaving. As she walked away, I could have sworn I saw some hesitation in her eyes.

"Could have gone worse" I mumbled, she could have killed me right then and there. But she still let me live, seems like she somewhat trusts me. Not fully, but even just a bit is fine for now.

Out of nowhere my system suddenly, popped up infront of me with a new notification.

"Oh, that's neat" I clicked a few options here and there, and saw a picture of the girl I just fought with. Her name wasn't revealed, so I clicked on it to see what information I had about her.

NAME:???

AGE:17

RACE: HUMAN

ROLE: HERO

CLASS: ???

ENDING TYPE: BAD END

"Bad end? Yeah I'm not letting that happen" I said, confidently. I told her that I would protect everyone in this city including her, and I plan to keep my word.

While I was trying to find other details about her, another notification popped up, a videonbroadcast. The person being broadcasted seemed to be one of the employees from the Story hub, based on her suit.

I watched carefully, wondering why a broadcast was made all of a sudden.

"This is Marin speaking. The author has been found making his move in story ID: 347.
