Chapter 7 - 7-Samuel and The Letter

ON THE WAY HOME – CONJURER AND DANTE

As Dante walked quickly towards home, he saw a red-haired man with a glowing hat tattoo in his hand. The moment he saw him, so many things ran through his mind... Dante remembered that day... As his steps slowed, thoughts raced through his head:Shit, that's the man—the one who told my mom that thing I couldn't remember... The one who knew my father... THE ONE WHO CAUSED MY MOTHER TO COMMIT SUICIDE!But Dante wasn't brave enough to turn back and confront the man. He just kept walking straight. That day, he had been so scared he couldn't even speak. All he could do now was let the rain fall from his eyes…After a while, he started talking to himself again,Wait... that day... the letter my mom held before I slept... it had the same symbol... I need to stay calm and get home. If I look at that letter again, maybe I can learn something. But... it's so hard to stay calm…

As Dante approached the house, he began to calm down. He could breathe and move more easily. When he got inside, he first checked on Natasha—she was already asleep. He tucked her into bed and headed to his parents' bedroom. There were three drawers, but one… one was locked. He checked the other two drawers first, but they were empty. He was stressed out—he needed to find that letter, but he didn't have the key.He took a deep breath, swallowed, and tried to open the locked drawer. It… opened.Inside was a letter in English. Dante could understand what it said, but he couldn't feel happy.Everything was strange. That drawer had always been locked…And the glowing hat symbol wasn't where he remembered it being. He swallowed again, took the letter out of the envelope, and began to read.

Dear Marcus DeVine, after all the things you've done for us, your passing from this world is nothing short of unfair. As we agreed, I will protect your wife and children—nothing will happen to them… But what you asked me to tell your wife might affect her a bit… Anyway, I will tell her that you still love her even in the next world… Probably. Rest in peace, Marcus. I hope you find peace wherever you are.

What? But... is he a good guy...?Dante was confused as he read the letter. None of it made sense. But he was so moved that he forgot all the weirdness. The tears falling from his eyes showed just how much it affected him…He turned the letter over and found an address:"ShinyCafe, three times Leonard."Dante didn't understand what it meant, but he remembered seeing a place called ShinyCafe before.Still, it was very late, so Dante took the letter, closed the drawer, returned to his room, hid the letter under his pillow, and fell asleep...

AT THE SAME TIME – FACTORY

Conjurer (Leonard) had arrived at the factory. He entered, took out a cigarette, lit it, and started smoking.Meanwhile, Michael and Anastasia were tending to Samuel, who had just started to wake up.

Samuel opened his eyes. In a large, empty room filled only with blade-like tools, three people stood in front of him: Anastasia, Michael, and Leonard—also known as Conjurer.Michael noticed Samuel waking and walked over to him, yelling,"GOOD MORNING, BRO!"And let out his classic giggle.Samuel was barely coming to his senses, but as Michael got close and started talking, Samuel spat in his face."You... BASTARD! Look how we treat you, and this is how you treat us?"Michael shouted, then angrily slapped Samuel and ripped a piece from his sweater to wipe his face.He kept talking,"This is the end of the road, you son of a bitch."He said scornfully, then pulled out an old-style pistol and pressed it to Samuel's head."Any last words?"

SAMUEL'S PAST

Samuel drifted into thought the moment the gun touched his head...

"Hey, I want to break up… Samuel..."Said a blonde, beautiful, young-looking woman. Across from her stood a young-looking Samuel. He couldn't even get a "What–" out before she cut him off and removed the necklace he had given her, placing it in his hand."I love someone else."Those were her final words. She turned around and walked away—without saying anything else.No proper goodbye. Just... left. They were at a fancy restaurant, had just eaten, and were about to talk... and there, Samuel was dumped. It took him nearly a year to recover. But just after getting back on his feet, he was crushed again. He saw his ex with a lightly red-haired man.No, it wasn't Leonard… it was Leonard's older brother.

His ex's belly was swollen clearly pregnant.Samuel was crushed again. And just as tears welled in his eyes, the red-haired man slapped the pregnant woman hard and walked away.Memories came flooding back to Samuel. He hadn't been hit, but he had been left, too…But this was a pregnant woman. Seeing his ex in such a state, with tears in her eyes, he went over. She was shocked to see him, but she knew she could trust him. She told him everything.

"He was the one I dated after you. We got really close… We were dreaming of having a daughter, but then all of a sudden… WHY DID HE CHANGE LIKE THAT!?"She screamed, crying and clinging to Samuel. And wouldn't you know it, her water broke. She had to give birth.Seeing this, Samuel pushed his emotions aside and thought logically—this wasn't the time for sadness or revenge. He picked up his ex and rushed her to a nearby hospital.

When they arrived, doctors took her in to give birth. At that moment, someone who looked like the red-haired guy, but younger—and with even redder hair—approached Samuel.

"Forget this whore. My brother asked me to get rid of her, Samuel Sunflower."He said calmly, with a blank face.Samuel kept his composure,"You're that son of a bitch's brother… How do you know my name!?"He asked, quietly but angrily."We learn everything. Forget how I know. Just leave the woman… You can take the child if you want. But the woman won't live."Leonard said.Samuel calmly asked for his name. Once he learned it, he sighed and said,"Listen here, you son of a—"Before he could finish, Leonard let out a tired sigh and knocked Samuel out.He made it look like he was peacefully asleep and professionally dragged him out of the hospital, dumping him in a deserted alley. When Samuel woke up 10–12 hours later, there was a baby and a letter beside him.The letter read:"Shut up and take the girl. Raise her and move on. That woman had to die."Samuel began to cry, but after a moment, he looked at the baby and said,"Maki…"
