Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: That Custodes: Come Over Here and Fight Me One-on-One!

Axis stared at the Emperor in shock. His Ki could actually do this—enhance a Primarch's physical abilities?

Because of him, Russ had become even stronger.

When Russ first picked him up, his power level had been 1,600, but now it was almost at the 2,000 mark.

A Primarch's physical stats weren't supposed to increase after adulthood.

On that point, the Emperor couldn't be wrong; he was the one who created them, after all.

But in the Dragon Ball world, Ki could indeed enhance a living being's physical attributes. Even little Goku, when he first appeared, could shrug off bullets with his bare body.

Aside from the Saiyans' own insane defenses, a big part of that was the power of Ki.

Beings in this universe couldn't really absorb Ki, but when Ki flowed through their bodies, it nourished their cells and their entire body, which, in turn, indirectly boosted their physical strength.

So did that mean his Ki could keep boosting someone's body without limit, or was there some sort of cap?

"It's quite miraculous. That will be enough for today. Next time I have a chance, I'll get someone else to help test it out. Caesar, take him to rest."

The day's test results were more than enough; it was time to let the kid get a good night's rest.

Even though there was no concept of time in the Warp, the ship still simulated gravity, night, and day. It was just one of the Imperator Somnium's special features.

"Understood, my lord. I'll go rest for now," Axis nodded and followed a Custodian Guard to his own private quarters.

After Axis entered his room, the Custodian didn't leave, but instead stood guard at the door, motionless.

Staring at the immobile Custodian outside his room, Axis couldn't help but twitch his lips.

Did even the Primarchs get this kind of treatment? A Custodian on door duty, just for him.

Axis rested for a bit, and soon a group of servitors wheeled in a huge amount of food, enough for dozens of people.

The Emperor clearly understood Axis's appetite.

He could put Russ to shame; one would have to calculate his food intake as if he were a monster over 20 meters tall.

His cells just had an insane hunger for energy.

After eating his fill, Axis greeted the Custodian standing guard, then flopped onto the bed and quickly fell asleep.

Looking at the sleeping Axis, the Custodian outside furrowed his brow.

Ordinary Custodians didn't get this kind of job.

Just what was so special about this kid that the Emperor valued him so highly?

The night passed uneventfully.

Early the next morning, the Custodian told Axis that the Emperor was too busy to see him today.

The Master of Mankind was always busy; the fact that he had made time the previous day to examine Axis's body meant he had already postponed a ton of important matters.

That day, Axis was free to do as he liked.

If he needed anything, he could just let the Custodian know.

Axis thought it over, then decided to ask the Custodian Guard to take him to the training room.

How could he just laze around in his room all day?

The Custodian nodded and led Axis to the training chamber aboard the Imperator Somnium, the same place where he'd previously been with Russ and the Emperor, testing out Saiyan weapons.

"If it's training, you need a proper opponent, don't you?" Axis turned to look at the Custodian beside him.

Most Custodians had power levels in the 1,100–1,200 range.

His own power level was now over 700; with the Saiyan's naturally tough physique and the boost from Ki, Axis figured it was worth challenging himself against a Custodian to see how he measured up.

The Custodian looked at Axis in mild surprise.

Did this kid actually want to spar with him? Was he getting a little cocky?

"I can get some training servitors for you. There's quite a gap in our abilities. You can't possibly be a match for me," the Custodian said.

"No, no! I like fighting opponents at my level, or stronger; the stronger, the better." Axis stretched on the training field, then beckoned at the Custodian.

It would be such a waste to have a golden corn-on-the-cob just standing guard for him; he had to make the most of it.

"You are sure you want to spar with me?" The Emperor's orders were to guard this kid and look after his basic needs.

If the kid himself wanted a fight, there wasn't a reason for him to refuse.

"Cut the chatter. Bring it on," Axis said.

"Alright!" The Custodian nodded, set aside his golden power weapon, and then summoned a squad of servitors to help him remove his golden power armor.

Now wearing only a set of black bodysuit under-armor, he stretched and faced Axis.

At this moment, Axis could finally get a clear look at the Custodian who had stood guard outside his room all day; a bald giant standing over three meters tall.

Axis took a deep breath, letting his Ki circulate through his body.

A faint blue aura shimmered around him as he cloaked himself in a layer of Ki.

Custodian Caesar narrowed his eyes, sensing the unfamiliar energy radiating in the air, a kind of power he'd never encountered before.

'This could actually be interesting.

'Should I go easy on the kid... or not?'

"Ready?"

"Come on!" Caesar's voice was deep and resonant, his muscles bunching under the black bodysuit like a beast about to spring.

Axis smiled faintly, leaned forward, and took up a fighting stance.

Caesar said nothing more; his figure vanished in an instant, moving so quickly he was nearly invisible to the naked eye.

But Axis's senses had already surpassed mere sight.

Using the flow of Ki, he could track Caesar's attack with pinpoint accuracy.

'Left!'

Axis reacted instantly, dodging to the side as Caesar's huge fist grazed his sleeve, whipping up a gust of wind.

Surprise flashed in Caesar's eyes, but he didn't let up.

Next came a sweeping kick at Axis's waist, but Axis tapped his feet lightly and soared upward like a feather, effortlessly evading the blow.

Axis flipped in midair, landed lightly, and gave a confident smirk.

After all those sparring sessions with Russ, he wouldn't be underestimated!

Caesar grunted and attacked again, each punch sharper and fiercer, every strike tearing through the air with a shrill whistle.

Yet Axis moved like a fish in water, darting between Caesar's blows, and even landing quick counterattacks that forced Caesar to step back.

'This kid's reflexes… absolutely unreal! And his combat experience seem impressive, too.'
