Chapter 3 : Reaching stars?.. Start!

Who knows how long she was out for, Evelyn couldn't ignore the excessively annoying aching that pestered her. It was like every time she tried to move her arm, it seemed to get worse.
Sitting up, she felt a dry blanket on top of her, and as she shuffled on the grass, she heard a sigh of relief nearby.
Little Evelyn had come back, the girl stood near her hiding spot that was no longer covered, she was holding what seemed to be a pile of clothes.
With her little legs, she ran towards Ennie and dropped the pile onto her.
"Ah-" "There! why did you sleep in the clothes you were soaked in!"
Evelyn questioned, Ennie looked at the pile, and the girl who crossed her arms expectantly, and turned to change into the pair of clothes.
Ennie looked at her reflection in the water, her dark hair was still a bit messy, but it was fine. She was wearing a purple off the shoulder top with a black midi skirt, surprisingly it all fit well!
"Good! now you look uh- less than a mess!" Evelyn proudly clapped as she tugged Ennie's hair, surprising her enough to knock her down into a sitting position.
"Ack- what was that for you brat?!"
She rubbed her head, trying to ease the sting of where she got pulled. Evelyn laughed before grabbing something out her white bag.
"Well, I need you to be closer so I can brush your hair" she explained, taking out her favourite cat hairbrush before gently grabbing Ennie's hair.
"Hm, you could've just told me to sit ya know" she mumbled, not bothering to stop the girl from playing with her hair.
"Yeah, but where's the fun in that" she cackled, putting the hair brush down as she tried to section Ennie's hair into three.
"Well, how are you today munchkin?" Ennie rolled her eyes as she sat comfortably.
Evelyn halted a bit, before continuing to braid her hair "Well! since you asked, I'll tell you, but don't interrupt me!" she warned, using her finger to poke Ennie's cheek.
Ennie rolled her eyes again before nodding, motioning that she sealed her lips and locked it with a key.
Evelyn looked at her weirdly before continuing on, " When I came back to the mano- I mean, my house, I got scolded by my nanny because this time, they actually noticed I left."
She let out a sigh, before continuing.
"I had to make up for it by doing extra lessons, which sucked, but then I snuck out again- but when I came here! You were like passed out near the lake, so I dragged you near the trees. You're heavy by the way"
Ennie reached backward to pinch her cheek, to which Evelyn squirmed and used the hair brush to hit her hand.
"Then I realized you slept in the wet clothes! like an idiot! soo I ran back home and snuck into my mom's room, grabbed her clothes and came back here!" She finished explaining as she used a hair tie on her wrist to finish braiding Ennie's hair.
'these are mom's clothes..?' Ennie thought confused, realizing she never had a reason to dig through her mom's closet- not until now.
Ennie turned around and patted Evelyn's head, "thanks Munchkin.. I don't know why you're helping me, but I really appreciate it" she smiled, noticing the subtle but happy smile the little girl had.
"It's nothing! You look like- me.. so think of it as me just playing dress up with my future self!" she grinned, grabbing Ennie's hand as she spun her around.
Ennie went along with her little requests as she sweat dropped, 'let's ignore that she basically guessed it-'
.
Evelyn looked at the woman who spun around, obviously just playing around to appease her, normally adults who dealt with her would get annoyed or afraid after a few little snarky remarks or tugs.
But Ennie, just kept biting back, it felt refreshing. Evelyn smiled as she ran towards the woman and tackled her legs, effectively knocking both of them over.
"Ack?! munchkin! ow.. you okay?" Ennie asked, hand on Evelyn's head, to avoid her from getting hurt.
Evelyn hid her face in Ennie's clothes, staying still as she responded, "I'm good- can we, stay like this for a bit.." she mumbled, her voice faint as she muffled herself.
Ennie let out a sigh of relief before adjusting herself, letting Evelyn stay on her in silence as she started thinking about last night.
.
Reach out to the stars... the only interpretation I can think of is meeting my maternal family. Tala, House of Stars, but how would I even explain the situation..
I looked down at the girl softly clinging onto me, she seems to have fallen asleep, I guess running from here back home took a toll on her.
My arm isn't glowing anymore, but I can still feel the remnants of the heat, It's odd. I've never had that happen before.. Then again, It's not my usual routine to be hanging out with my younger self.
[ Hello! ]
Who-?
Careful not to wake little Evelyn up, I look around, trying to find the source of the voice, only to see a glowing chat box in front of me.
[ I told you I'd find a way to communicate! Aren't you proud of me? I did it rather fast! :) ]
I found myself staring at the box with.. confusion? and a bit of judgement.
[ Okay geez- no need for the glare, I'm here to answer any questions you may have! ]
Shaking my head, and pointing down to the sleeping girl below me, I whispered, "do I have to speak? I don't want her waking up"
[ No worries! I wouldn't want the little bunny to wake up either, If you direct your thoughts to me, then I'll understand! ]
I'm.. not even going to question what directing my thoughts mean- Is speaking in my head with the intention of you hearing it the same?
[ Basically! You got it quickly! Good job bunny! ]
Bunny..? Whatever, you said you'd explain this whole- thing to me? what did you mean by reaching out to the stars, do you mean House Tala?
[ Yup! Good job my dear, that's the first step! go talk to your grandfather and ask for the name Adrienne ]
Excuse me? just that? meeting with grandfather and asking for someone named Adrienne..? do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?
[ How come? ]
How- What do you mean how come!? How can I just walk in there, ask for a random name, and just expect answers?! Can't you answer my questions? How am I even here, what did you mean summon you? I'm so lost-
[ Calm down my dear- I can't just tell you.. I have restrictions placed on me!! ]
Are you serious.. okay, what can you tell me?
[ That.. uh, you'll find out more when you meet your grandfather? ]
...

You're useless.
"eh.. what time is it" a quiet groggy voice spoke, out of instinct, I try to look for my phone- only realising it's probably in the pockets of the skirt I wore previously.
"Uh, give me a second munchkin" I said, trying to set her down- only to stop when I realized she was literally hanging on. Well, I guess she's not that heavy.
I walk over to my dry, but crinkled skirt and dug through the pocket, finding my phone, checking the time, "It's 3:25pm, oh shi- uh hm. My phone's gonna die soon" Honestly, I'm surprised it survived the water.
.
Evelyn stared at Ennie's phone with curiosity, she hasn't seen that model before- is it new- "Ah Evelyn, do you have a curfew?" shaken out of her thoughts, she looked up and nodded "Yeah.. I should be back before 5, that's typically an hour before I get called down for dinner"
Ennie's eyes crinkled with kindness "do you want me to walk you home? I have somewhere to go today" she said, gently patting the girl's head, Evelyn looked away in embarrassment, "I don't need someone walk me! I'm not five!"
But still, she tugged on Ennie's sleeve "but.. I wouldn't mind it-" she quickly finished, looking down as she awaited rejection.
Ennie chuckled and poked Evelyn's cheek "that settles it! Come on, I'll carry you, you must still be sluggish from your nap?" Evelyn pouted, but nodded nonetheless.
With a quiet count, Ennie picked up the white bag that Evelyn had brought, while stabilizing Evelyn on her left arm.
"Alright Munchkin! tell me where to go" Ennie decided it would've been better to keep acting as Ennie- and not as Evelyn's future self, at least, until she knew why she was here.
