The world had changed again.
Not visibly. The trees still moved with wind. The sky still shifted across its Spiral hues. But under the surface, a new presence was watching.
Ren could feel it every time he closed his eyes—something blinking where no eye existed. Something old. Not Spiral… but pre-Spiral.

The Whispering Begins
It started with small things.
Rei's blade hummed when it shouldn't.
Kael felt like someone was walking beside him—only to find no one.
Yumi's sketches began finishing themselves while she slept.
And Aki…
He stopped sleeping altogether.
"I keep hearing my own thoughts," he muttered one night, eyes sunken. "But not the ones I'm thinking now. They're... future echoes."
Yumi looked up. "You mean… timelines?"
Aki nodded. "It's like the Hollow inside me is beginning to see forward. I don't know if that's a blessing or a curse."
Ren watched him carefully. The Hollow's influence was growing stronger each day. Aki didn't seem corrupted—but something in him was shifting.
Then the Spiral trembled.
Just once.
A single pulse across the entire map. Every Seeker across Yūgen felt it at the exact same moment.
Ren opened his map.
A black marker appeared, pulsing slowly.
No coordinates.
No zone.
Just one word:
> "OPENED."
---
The Spiral Council Speaks
The team returned to Spiral Delta's inner sanctum, where the Council of Seers resided. Normally passive and mysterious, the Seers broke their silence when the marker appeared.
"There is no Minister approaching," said one of them.
Ren frowned. "What does that mean?"
"There is a Minister already here."
Yumi's breath caught. "Inside Spiral Delta?"
"No. Inside someone."
They all looked at Aki.
But the Seers shook their heads.
"No. Not the Vessel. Someone else. Something else."
Rei looked down at her own reflection in the Spiral glass. "Then who?"
Kael growled. "What the hell does 'Opened' mean then?"
Another Seer, this one ancient, answered:
> "It means… the Third Minister has begun his trial. And his domain… is your mind."
---
The First Mindfall
That night, Kael collapsed.
His body froze mid-step, eyes flickering with Spiral static. His hands clenched, then loosened. Blood leaked from one nostril.
They rushed to him—but when Kael opened his eyes again…
He wasn't Kael.
His voice was layered—his own, and someone deeper.
> "Memory is a weapon. And your minds are already cracked."
Then he smiled—Kael never smiled like that.
Aki stepped forward. "Who are you?"
The Kael-thing tilted his head.
> "I am the Mindfall Sovereign. Minister Three. And your illusions of control end here."
Yumi screamed and rushed forward—but the world around them broke.
Reality twisted. The camp, the trees, the stars—all shattered into floating fragments.
They were inside Kael's mind.
And the Minister had full control.
---
Battle of Thoughts
Inside the mental construct, Ren's Creation Spiral flickered erratically. This wasn't real space. Drawing wouldn't work the same.
Rei's weapon dissolved into smoke. "Damn it. I can't manifest!"
Yumi tried to sketch a gate—her sketchbook ripped itself apart.
Aki stood still.
And then he spoke.
But it wasn't him.
It was the Hollow inside.
> "You don't rule this mind alone, fool."
The Spiral inside Aki detonated outward—not harming the others, but ripping open a rift of white-hot code.
From it stepped a shadow shaped like Aki—but older, more composed.
> "Two vessels," Minister Three whispered. "One cracked. One bleeding."
The Hollow slammed into the Minister's control. Ren took the chance—drawing with his remaining power, forcing open a link between Kael's thoughts and his own.
He reached out.
> "Kael… remember who you are."
---
Kael Breaks Free
Kael blinked. Inside his own dreamspace, he was a child—standing in his father's workshop. A place long buried in memory.
He turned.
Ren stood beside him.
"I don't care how strong he is," Ren said. "He's not you."
Kael clenched his fists. "Then let's end him."
The two charged through the illusion.
As their combined will broke the Minister's hold, the memory-world collapsed—dragging Minister Three's essence out like smoke.
They returned to real space.
Kael dropped to one knee, panting.
The black Spiral around him vanished.
Yumi helped him up. "That… was inside your head?"
Kael nodded. "He tried to use my guilt… my fear. But Ren's voice cut through."
Rei looked at the horizon. "Then he's not gone."
"No," Ren said, standing straight. "He's waiting."

Post-Scene
In a Spiral crypt, deep beneath Yūgen, a silver eye opened on a wall of flesh.
> "Their minds are strong. But not ready."
The Mindfall Sovereign vanished into shadow.
