Back at the Guild, no one spoke.
The magic surge they had just witnessed was still fresh in their minds. People glanced at one another, unsure what to say. All eyes gradually settled on Makarov.
They were waiting for answers.
He finally broke the silence."Porlyusica… that burst of power Escanor's body. It's… unique, isn't it? There've been other children born with strong magic before, right?"
Porlyusica didn't blink."Yes. But usually, what they're born with is pure mana, raw magical energy. It's volatile, sure, but manageable."She paused."This boy's different. His magic feels… solar. Hot, bright, alive. It's not fire, but it burns. It's light, but it scorches."
Makarov took a slow breath, nodding."Whatever it is, he's still my grandson. A Dreyar. A Fairy Tail mage. The Guild's future will rest with him one day."
Porlyusica's voice turned sharp."Don't be so quick to celebrate."
The room stiffened.
"Magic like that without a vessel strong enough to contain it will tear him apart from the inside.""And don't forget, the Dark Guilds are still out there: Tartaros, Oración Seis, Grimoire Heart. They've been collecting children like him. If they catch wind of this…"
Makarov's eyes narrowed.
"They won't get the chance.""I'm not retiring yet. Not while Fairy Tail's still in my hands."
Meanwhile, nestled in Makarov's arms, the infant stirred slightly but didn't open his eyes.
He didn't need to.
He'd heard everything.
He understood everything.
Escanor's thoughts drifted quietly behind his closed lids.
"The magic they're sensing, 'Merciless Sun,' used to be a Grace. Back then, I was just a human carrying divine power. It wasn't meant for me.It burned me… and I let it. Because that power let me stand with my friends."
But now it was different.
The Grace hadn't simply chosen him this time. It was him.
It had fused with his soul the moment he died. Rebirth had turned it into something more: his true magic.
Even so, this infant body, fragile and unfamiliar, needed time to adapt.
"Grandpa placed a seal on me, 'Three God Pillars.' It's suppressing the flow of magic. A training wheel for my soul. When I grow up… when my body can handle it, I'll take the brakes off. Until then, I'll strengthen my core. Shape this power. Learn control."
He recalled the past. His old self.
"I was reckless. Brute force and pride. That was all. I didn't know finesse. Didn't care. But Mael, he used 'Sun' with elegance. Flexibility. Strategy. There's more to it than just raw heat. I've seen it before… Now I'll master it."
This world… it felt different.
The way magic pulsed in the air. How mages wielded multiple elements. Everything was strange but exciting.
"Fairy Tail feels like… a real family.""So I'll protect them. Whoever threatens this guild, this home, I'll burn them to ash."
He made the vow silently.
Later that evening, Makarov stood with Porlyusica and several senior mages. After much discussion, they reached the same conclusion:
Escanor would remain sealed under the "Three God Pillars" until his body matured. The spell would shield him from magical overload and allow safe growth.
Makarov held the child up, smiling.
"Escanor… Whatever the future brings, I want you to live strong. That's all I ask."
The infant giggled a soft, bubbly sound and babbled happily.
It wasn't much, but the timing made everyone laugh.
Even Porlyusica cracked a small smile.
Sunlight streamed through the clouds for the first time all day.
Rain had passed. The skies cleared. And the Guild was filled with laughter again.
In that moment, the grief was softened. The tension lifted.
Hope, quiet but unmistakable, was in the air.
No one in that room could've imagined what that tiny boy would become.
No one could predict what kind of miracle or calamity he would one day lead this world through.
But that was still a story far into the future.
Right now, baby Escanor let out a yawn, curled against his grandfather's chest, and drifted back to sleep.
And across Fairy Tail, everyone finally relaxed.
Some went to work.
Some went to rest.
And the world… moved forward.
