Chapter 3 - Seal

As he took the star shards into his hands, they disappeared as if they were never there.

Radiant lights burst out from his body, the surface of his skin twinkling like countless stars in the night as if they were embedded beneath his skin, giving people an otherworldly brilliance.

"Hmm... Something is wrong," Wei Jian said. He hastened his movements, trying to suppress Wu Chen to quell the uneasiness in his heart.

Boom!

He was sent flying by an unexpected force crashing into the ground.

Wu Chen slowly levitated, his hair turned darker and was dancing behind his back. He felt like he could suppress the world with his bare hands.

He looked at his body. "Hmm... The boost won't last long. I better end this quickly."

"You… What have you done?" Wei Jian got up, his eyes snapping at the remaining few star shards on the ground.

Although it was broken, at least he could still return the shards to the academy. Who knows, they might have a way to fix it.

"Hmph! You don't need to know," Wu Chen scoffed. Then he stretched his right hand and grabbed the air towards the air.

"Hmph! Acting tough just because of a momentary lapse in movement. I'll show you what true strength is!" Wei Jian snarled, his aura flaring as he charged forward like a storm.

He stretched out his hand again to suppress Wu Chen, but this time with even more strength. He couldn't believe that Wu Chen really had such strength.

"Gale burst palm!" Wei Jian shouted.

A hand materialized above Wu Chen's head, trying to suppress him.

Wu Chen glanced at the hand. And with just that glance, the hand disappeared. After the hand disappeared, Wu Chen extended his right hand and slowly opened his palm.

"What!" Wei Jian exclaimed. Though the disappearance of his attack startled him, he held himself together.

What shocked him was when Wu Chen opened his palm, he felt a threat of death. What he found most unbelievable was that Wu Chen didn't awaken but could still have such power.

In Wu Chen's palm, a black ball of light filled with a destructive aura unfolded.

"I can't let him use it…!" Wei Jian said as his scalp went numb with dread. A spear suddenly appeared in his hand.

"Mr. Wei, is this really necessary?" The vice principal couldn't help it anymore. "You're a lancer and he's not even an awakener. He is also a student. And besides, he's the adoptive son of…."

"Shut up! Will you take responsibility for the Star Awakening Orb? Not even the Alliance can afford it," Wei Jian shouted.

"This…" The vice principal didn't know how to respond.

"Only bringing him back to the Alliance and offering his head would ease the situation a little." As he said that, armor appeared on his body, and the wind element around became chaotic.

Since the pressure on the students had been lifted, they stood up with trembling bodies.

"Gale Spearman...!" someone pointed at Wei Jian.

"Hmph! Although I don't know where the trash got the power from, with a Gale Spearman taking action, there's no way he'll be able to resist." Liu Kai said soothing his aching body.

"Wind Thrust!" Wei Jian roared with a thrust of his hand. The wind element surged around the spear amplifying its lethality, and speed.

The black ball in Wu Chen's hand also turned into a spear emitting destructive aura. It slowly levitated above his palm until suspended in mid-air.

"Go." Wu Chen said.

As if receiving an order, the spear shot out leaving a trail of destruction on the ground.

Even if there weren't any wind element to back it up, it was faster than the wind enhanced spear used by Wei Jian.

The destructive spear and the wind enhanced spear finally collided, but there wasn't a loud sound like expected. The only sound that could be heard was the wind spear breaking.

The destructive spear continued unabated at Wei Jian.

The armor on his body glowed.

Bang!

The sound of collision finally rang out and the armor cracked. "Puff!"

He flew back, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"Hmm… only one attack has taken more than ninety percent of my body strength. The battle will have to end for now." Wu Chen said feeling the situation of his body

After saying that, he flashed and quickly arrived beside Wei Jian.

"You…!" Wei Jian was horrified. Just one attack had almost killed him.

Wu Chen didn't give him a chance to talk and put a finger on his forehead.

"What have you done? Why can't I use my power!" Wei Jian shouted hysterically. "Pfft!"

"I've sealed your power. Nobody except me will be able to break the seal." Wu Chen said. He could feel that due to overexerting his body, he'd soon pass out.

His body strength had returned to normal, even a little weaker than before.

"Brother...!" Sister Ying quickly ran over to support him.

"Sister Ying, don't forget the star shards," Wu Chen said. Then his body fell limply into Sister Ying's hands.

Sister Ying looked at Wei Jian, whose confidence had been hit due to being defeated in a single confrontation.

"Hmph! Just wait, my mother will hear about this."

"Ying Yue?" Behind her, a voice was heard and a woman who looked just like her suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"Mom!" Ying Yue called her with surprise.

"What happened here?" The mother asked, her eyes scanning the surroundings.

"Here's how..... " Ying Yue quickly explained.

"Hmm... I understand. Let me take a look at your brother." She pointed a finger at Wu Chen's forehead and a wave of energy went out of her finger and through his body.

"Don't worry. It's just his body that's exhausted. I really don't know how he could have such power without being awakened." She turned to Wei Jian.

"Impossible…! Who did you say put that seal on him?" she quickly asked, surprise written in her voice.

"It seemed to be Brother. I heard him say nobody would be able to remove the seal except him…!" Ying Yue recalled what happened and explained.

"If what he said is true, then no one would be able to remove the seal. Even I can't see through the seal…. Oh, what about the Star Orb?" she suddenly looked at Ying Yue.

"The… the Star Orb shattered." Ying Yue lowered her head. Her voice was barely a whisper.

"What!" Her mother's voice was raised to the limit. She couldn't believe what she heard.

"The Star Awakening Orb is more important to the Alliance than you realize," she said taking in a deep breath. "It's the foundation of the Alliance's power… and the very reason this war has dragged on for nearly three centuries."

She paused, looking into the distance. "This incident, it's going to shake more than you think. The Alliance won't just ignore it. Not when it involves the Orb."

"Let's not talk about this here anymore. It would be disastrous if everyone knew." She got up and looked at the students who still had shocked expressions on their faces.

"I didn't expect there to be a planet-level awakener this year." She looked at Mei Li. "And she even awakened an Aspect… that makes her the second one after you."

"This will be an important matter for the Alliance. There are very few planet awakeners, even rarer are those who awaken with an Aspect. Maybe it'll help ease the situation a little. Oh, and she also seems to be the daughter of a friend."

"It would be best if they forgot what happened today."

As she said that, she waved her right hand and all the students, including the vice principal, except Mei Li, fell unconscious.

"You should keep what happened today quiet. Your father will explain when you get home." She looked at Mei Li and said.

"I understand." Mei Li nodded.

"Good." The mom said and then waved her hand again and she, Ying Yue, and Wu Chen disappeared.

Whoosh!

Three figures suddenly appeared in a room.

"Mom, how are you going to deal with this? What will they do to Brother if they find out he was the one who broke the Star Orb?" She gently lay Wu Chen on the bed and asked.

"They shouldn't do anything for now with your dad and me around. But Wu Chen's life would be anything but peaceful. Sigh!

Wu Chen has always been special since we found him. Even I, the only Seer in the Alliance, can't see anything when it comes to him."

"You should go join your combat team after Wu Chen gets better to not draw unwanted attention."

"I understand." Ying Yue nodded.

"Why did you bring back the star shards?" She suddenly noticed something in Ying Yue's hands.

"Wu Chen said that I should bring them back. It's already broken, what use would it be taking it back to the Alliance?"

"Sigh... Although the Star Awakening Core was the heart of the Alliance, it's now in shards. It wouldn't matter taking it back to the Alliance. It's better to give it to Wu Chen. I would like to see what he plans to use it for."
