Synopsis
A ruthless corporate strategist wakes up in a mud-filled trench during the Crimean War in the disgraced body of Captain Alistair Peregrine Finchley.
Branded a coward. Hated by London. Assets frozen. The Empire wants him hanged.
Finchley wants tea.
Stuck in an alternate Victorian Britain with only a sarcastic, old-fashioned “Gentleman’s Ledger” and his battlefield instincts, Finchley sets a singular goal:
Retire in peace. Preferably rich. Definitely far from cannon fire.
But peace is expensive. And the Empire is on sale.
So, he does what any disgraced noble with a modern MBA and math-based hearing would do: turn a slum pawnshop into an intelligence network, recruit war criminals as staff, and outsource empire-saving work while sipping tea.
Unfortunately, his allies are unstable, his enemies are powerful, and the villains of Victorian high society are far nastier than any CEO.
“War? Oh no. I don’t fight wars. I invest in the winning side.”
