Chapter 3 - 3. Beach Catching

After understanding the general functions of the 'system', several application scenarios instantly flashed through Li Wei's mind.

For example: gold panning, treasure hunting, and fishing.

Before transmigrating, during a special period, he was infatuated with documentary films about gold panning, treasure hunting, and fishing for a while, spending a considerable amount on obscure documentaries.

It was just that back then he could only satisfy his eyes and fantasize about treasure hunting in his head. As for actually doing it, he didn't have the guts, as it's well-known that 'the whole world is the king's land'.

As long as he dared to operate on the ground, the hat-wearing uncles would dare to provide him with three meals a day.

His neighbor, 'Hu Hansan', was still in the detention center before he transmigrated.

Recalling his past life, or rather, the lives of most people his age, they were quite miserable. They were either stuck in school every day or shuttling between various tutoring classes.

He thought he would be free after college and could go out and see the world, but before he could enjoy a few good days, the special period arrived. The special period didn't end, and he was sent into society, struggling for a few pieces of silver every day.

Li Wei thought his life would be like this forever, but he didn't expect to become a member of the transmigration army.

Moreover, as soon as he transmigrated, there was an inheritance waiting to be claimed, and now he was bound to a detection system. If he didn't go and experience another kind of life, it would truly be a waste of the opportunity to live again.

In fact, after Li Wei learned he had transmigrated, he already had a preliminary plan for the future.

First, successfully claim the inheritance, then sell everything for cash, return to the University of Southern California to complete his studies, and while he's at it, use the memories in his mind to make money, invest, and try starting a business.

As for being the richest man, he'll leave that to others. He just needs to earn a little pocket money to enjoy life.

It's not that Li Wei is lazy; he knows himself well. He can manage small amounts of money, but large sums would likely be completely devoured by others, leading to a fate of being shot five times in the back and ruled a suicide.

Didn't the leader of the cyber commoners publicly state that he would absolutely! Absolutely! Absolutely not commit suicide?

If there's anyone in this world who understands Eagle Country best, it's undoubtedly himself. Eagle Country 20 years from now is more accurately described as a chaotic dance of demons.

However, the appearance of the detection system gave Li Wei some new ideas.

As is well known, the ocean, as Blue Star's largest resource treasure trove, not to mention the rich mineral deposits and various rare resources hidden beneath the sea, just the fishing industry alone can bring in hundreds of billions of us dollars in output value each year.

Now that he has the detection system, this hundred-billion treasure trove is like a defenseless beauty, with her arms wide open, allowing him to take whatever he wants.

However, he couldn't act on it yet; there were still many things that needed to be resolved.

The most crucial one was the Sea Monster.

Before he paid the inheritance tax, he only had the right to use the Sea Monster and couldn't use it for commercial activities.

He could take advantage of the time spent handling the inheritance tax to prepare as much as possible in advance.

He firmly kept the urgent matters in mind.

Li Wei took a hot shower, changed into his original father's clothes, picked up the car keys from the table, and walked quickly out of the cabin.

Although he couldn't go out fishing to make money yet, he could go to the beach and satisfy his craving for beachcombing.

"No one in this world understands beachcombing better than me!"

...

Half an hour later, Li Wei drove the F150 pickup to the beach on the other side of the town.

Through the car window, he could see many people digging something on the beach with shovels from a distance.

Recalling the memories in his original body's mind, he remembered that today was a big low tide, and these people on the beach were most likely digging for Pacific geoducks, which are commonly called geoducks.

He had seen this type of shellfish in his previous life, and the deepest impression was its price, which was as high as three digits per kilogram.

However, geoducks, which are expensive in China, are not exactly everywhere in Alaska, but they are not far from it.

In the virtual screen in his field of vision, geoducks, large clams, razor clams, and cockles, made up of blue light dots, were densely distributed on this black beach.

The largest clam among them was as big as an adult's fist.

And the further towards the deep sea, the more geoducks and large clams there were, and the larger they were.

In addition, Li Wei also saw a large number of marine creatures in the distant sea, such as: Dungeness Crabs, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and various fish.

He couldn't help but exclaim at the richness of Alaska's fishery resources. Many of them were quite valuable, but here they were as common as Chinese cabbage.

"Li Wei! Over here."

Just as Li Wei was standing on the beach lost in thought, he suddenly heard someone calling 'his' name.

Following the direction of the sound, what came into view were two constantly swaying peaks.

It wasn't that he intended to, but the two peaks were simply too full, and even though they were covered by loose clothing, their magnificent scale was hard to conceal.

This made him think of the jokes he had seen in his previous life:

"It's a tragedy for a man to look down and not see his feet, but it's a pride for a woman to look down and not see her feet."

Following the two peaks downwards, a pair of washed, tight jeans tightly wrapped around long legs, and one could imagine their elasticity without even touching them.

When his gaze finally focused on the other person's face, even he, who had watched countless short videos in his previous life, was still amazed by her appearance.

This was a white girl, with delicate features, a beautiful face, flowing blonde hair, and fair skin. Every part of her perfectly matched his Eastern soul's aesthetic.

What puzzled him the most was how such a graceful and slender figure could give birth to such majestic peaks?

Behind the white girl was a white muscular man.

The white muscular man was over two meters tall, and his bulging muscles seemed about to burst through his hoodie. Just standing there, he exuded a strong sense of oppression.

Li Wei instantly recalled information about the two of them.

The girl was Jessica Garcia, and the muscular man was Buck Garcia. They were siblings and friends Li Wei had grown up with.

"Hi! Jessica, Buck, how's your haul today?"

"Li Wei, we had a good haul today. Buck just dug up two large geoducks."

Jessica had already bounced over to Li Wei, and while speaking, she opened the mesh bag she was carrying.

Li Wei looked inside and saw that they indeed had a good haul. The largest among them were the big geoducks Jessica mentioned, there were as many as four of them. Besides that, the most numerous items were razor clams and large clams.

At this moment, Buck walked over with a shovel.

"Li Wei, how have you been feeling lately?"

"Buck, I've adjusted. Continuing to be depressed will only make them sad."

"That's good. I believe your uncle and aunt would also be happy for you."

"Hey, Buck, can we not talk about sad things today? Li Wei, do you want to try?"

Jessica said, then took the shovel from Buck's hand.

Li Wei thought of the beachcombing videos he had watched in his previous life, took the shovel Jessica handed him, and said with a smile:

"Thanks, Jessica."

He didn't start digging immediately, but first checked the virtual screen in his field of vision, looking for a suitable target.

With the detection assistance, Li Wei quickly identified his first target. It was a geoduck with a shell length exceeding 15 centimeters, and its long siphon was slowly wriggling in the sand.

After selecting a target, Li Wei walked to the geoduck's location and plunged the shovel directly into the sand.

He had originally thought he would need to exert some effort, but it was surprisingly easy. It didn't take long before he effortlessly dug out the geoduck from beneath the mud and sand.

Buck, standing beside him, was a little surprised by this scene.

They were of similar age and had grown up together, so he knew better than anyone how strong Li Wei was. After only half a year of not seeing each other, he felt that the other party's strength had increased significantly.

Moreover, he felt that the Li Wei in front of him was somewhat different. As for where he was different, he couldn't quite articulate it for a moment.

Jessica, however, didn't notice this. Normally, all the heavy lifting was done by Buck, and she only needed to cheer him on from the side.

As for any changes in Li Wei, it was that his demeanor was very different.

Thinking of Li Wei's state during this time, Jessica only thought it was a change brought about by the death of his uncle and aunt.

Li Wei was unaware of the siblings' thoughts at this moment. He also noticed that his strength was much greater than that of himself in his memories.

The original body's physical fitness could only be described as average, especially after experiencing various temptations at the University of Southern California. His physical fitness was only at the level of ordinary people.

Unlike now, he had dug such a large pit without any feeling of fatigue.

Li Wei didn't delve into this too much, subconsciously attributing this change to transmigration or the system.

When Jessica saw the geoduck, she exclaimed:

"Li Wei, this geoduck of yours is really big, it's a whole size bigger than the one Buck just dug."

"Yeah, such a large geoduck is indeed quite rare on this beach. I've only seen them when diving before."

"..."

"Jessica, this is my first catch today, consider it a thank you for lending me your shovel."

"Li Wei, are you serious!"

Jessica's face lit up with joy upon hearing this, but then she suddenly thought of something and said somewhat dejectedly:

"Thanks, Li Wei. We've used up our geoduck quota for today. If the fishery police find out, we'll be fined a large sum of money. But I can help you pack it."

Jessica said, took the geoduck, and directly stuffed it into her mesh bag.
