Chapter 1 - Sucked Into The Abyss

"Arghhhhh!"

A loud roar of pain resounded throughout the dark abyss, which would send chills down the spine of anyone nearby.

But luckily, there was no one nearby to hear these screams.

"Arghhhhh!"

The roar came again, cutting through the silence which was as thick as the darkness itself.

"Arghhh!"

Once again, the loud, blood-curdling roar came shaking the depths of the place.

The roars continued for so long, only the gods knew, and after a while, the place suddenly fell silent. A few more moments after, a hand appeared out of the darkness, followed by the slow dragging of a body after it.

After a long while, the figure finally managed to crawl out of the darkness into the sunlight.

"Finally," Rain groaned, lying on his back, his hair charred, looking disheveled.

The clothes on his body were in rags, and his skin also looked burnt as smoke arose from his body.

"When will this torture stop?" Rain muttered, staring at the sun while he watched his body recover at lightning speed.

Every day, a mysterious force would drag him into the dark abyss, and he would be tortured for a long time, only to be thrown out when his life was at its end.

With his cultivation, his injuries would heal almost instantly after he was thrown out, after which he would be dragged in again.

At first, he had thought he would be able to fight against the force, but even with his Void Shattering Realm Cultivation, he was not able to do anything against the force.

If he were out in the World, he would be a powerhouse who was revered and feared. But here, he would always be reduced to this state.

Lying on the floor, Rain closed his eyes, waiting for the force to drag him back for another round of torture. His mind was occupied with the thoughts of his sister at the moment. All he hoped was that she was fine.

The heavenly emperor, the ruler of the four realms, had almost beaten his sister to death in a fit of rage. Even though she was once the most loved of the emperor's wives.

So in return, he had stolen one of the emperor's elixirs to cure her, only to be caught and thrown into this abyss.

Rain couldn't count the number of years he had been here. All the torture he was made to go through every day had already numbed his senses.

Even if he wanted to die, there was no way to die. Also, his lifespan as a Void Shattering Realm Cultivator was about a thousand years.

So would he be here till the end of his lifespan? Rain couldn't imagine how he would live through the insane torture.

Just as Rain was lost in his thoughts, a suction force suddenly appeared, sucking Rain towards the abyss.

"Seems like my time's up again," Rain muttered, his eyes flashed open, and then he closed them again. He didn't even fight against the force this time.

But All of a sudden, the force stopped, and a frail voice came, "You seem to have given up, right?"

Instantly, Rain's eyes flashed open only to be met with a mysterious old man donned in white robes floating before him.

"Who are you?" Rain inquired, his eyes darting towards the old man and the abyss at the same time.

"You don't need to know who I am, Kid," The old man laughed, stroking his beard. "Do you wish to leave this place?" He asked, his gaze fixed on Rain.

But at the moment, Rain didn't seem to have heard the old man as his gaze was fixated on the abyss suction force, which seemed to have stopped when this old man appeared.

Though he didn't know how this man had done it, he was sure he was the one who had stopped the suction force.

"Kid, I'm talking to you," The old man's voice came, snapping Rain out of his thoughts.

"Do you wish to leave this place?"

"Yes," Rain nodded without a second thought.

However, after a few years of trying, he gave up trying to escape this place. If offered the chance, he wouldn't hesitate to take it.

"Then it's settled," The old man nodded slightly.

"I'll release you from your suffering, but in return, you have to defeat the heavenly emperor," He continued.

"But.."

"There's no negotiation to that. You have to defeat the emperor, or else you'll suffer a fate worse than this," The old man shook his head, interrupting Rain.

"We'll meet again when you either fail or pass," He added, and before Rain could say anything, he disappeared.

"So how do I get out of here?" Rain muttered, his eyes darting around.

Immediately, these words left his mouth, and a huge wave of fatigue hit him. Before he could do anything, he fell to the ground with a thud.

--------

"How dare you block my way, you bastard? A trash of the outer sect," A strict scolding voice flowed into Rain's ears, making him open his eyes.

"We asked you to clean our rooms, yet you dared to stay back in your room, claiming you were sick. How dare you refuse to do what we ordered you to do? You trash!"

The voice continued, making Rain frown slightly while he stared at the people before him.

"Ain't I supposed to be back at my house? Did that old man lie to me?" Rain muttered, confusion written on his face, wondering where he was.

Just as he was still confused, a large amount of information rushed into his head, making him groan slightly.

Compared to the torture he had endured over the years, this was nothing, so it quickly faded.

Soon, Rain's mouth curled into a smile as he accessed the information in his head.

Instead of leaving, his body had disintegrated, and his soul was sent to the mortal world, where he took over the body of an outer disciple in the Glory Dome Sect.

"How dare you ignore me. Didn't you hear me talking to you?" A loud roar came, pulling Rain out of his thoughts. At the same time, he felt a gust of wind rushing towards his face, followed by a fist.
