( coughing) Ana wakes from her sleep, the night as dark as an abyss " I'm so thirsty" she says as she walked out of her room to get some water but sees her mom walking somewhere in some sort of a trance. " Mom? Mom, what's wrong, why are you awake by this time?" She gets no response " mom?" She called out again as her mom started walking towards an unfamiliar door "mom where are you going?"
Ana hears a glass fall behind her and in a split second after she turned to look where the sound came from, she turned back and her mom had disappeared from sight. "Mom? Mom?" She kept calling proceeding into the room behind the door. Not too far in she hear snarls , she stops in her tracks but the sound came closer and got louder until she saw it , blood moon eyes of what seemed like a very big dog
She took a step back but stumbled to the ground making herself easy to prey on and just when the creature pounced on her, she woke up
The day so bright "hugh hugh " she kept panting " it was just a dream, a very strange dream" . "Ana food is ready, come now" Sofie called out to her daughter
Ana tired , walking out of her room
"You really overslept, was it that comfortable?" Sofie asked
"Well, it started comfortable but ended really strange" Ana said stuffing pancakes in my mouth
"Strange? What do you mean strange honey?"
" no it's nothing" Ana said as she stared at the place the strange door was at in her dream. There was nothing.
"Well if you say so, I'll be going now. I have alot to sort out" Sofie explained
"Sure go, I'll be fine. I can even meet Cat, see if she'll show me around a bit"
"Alright baby. Just don't go too far from the house ok? Sofie urges her yet stubborn child being overprotective as usual. " i won't mom, I promise " Ana assured as Sofie kissed her forehead and left the house
" So you're telling me you were in one particular isolated house for 16 years? How could you survive or even stay there still?" Cat went on about the obscurity of the idea of living like that
" you know, if it were me I would have escaped. Literally, I won't survive it" she ended
" I know, but at least I'm here now. I just want things to be different. I have neighbors, I'm going to school. Do you know I never saw any other human except my mom and the mail man also probably the guys in the TV " "woah, that's highly lonely " Cat said really shocked but laughing at the same time
"Which means you have to enjoy your time here and enjoy it well " Cat said
"And , how do we plan to do that?" Ana asked. " Well as time goes we will see exactly how to do it" cat said as they both walked into an alley way. Getting in Cat's phone rings "Be right back, I gotta take this"
Ana waits there for a while when she sees a pair of almost golden eyes, "who is there?" She asks in a panic state
" who are you? Show yourself" trying to be fierce while trembling in fear Ana said
" I don't think you want me to show myself" the person in a rather husky voice says.
In the blink of an eye he was behind her, whispering at her neck he says
"You know you're a weird thing. You smell of death...fresh death"
With that her neck felt cold again
" the hell?" She says as she turned to find no one "huff! huff!"
"Hey! Hey, where are you?" She called out calming herself before the realization hits her
"What are you?" Still tryna understand what just happened she didn't realize Cat's presence
"Stasia" Cat called as she patted Ana's shoulder
"Cat, you're back" finally relieved to see her friend "that was a very long call, why did it take so long?" ' nothing, it has just been long since I heard from the person" Cat explained
"Ohk ohk, let's just go very fast to our houses I'm feeling very tired " Ana said trying to get to where is safe as quick as possible
"Yh let's go. You know, it's actually normal to be tired after your first walk"
Coming in Ana felt her shoulders fall, she didn't ever know it was tense. "You're back?" Sofie started, "I never thought you'd be back, what took you so long?" ' we went far, into an alley then near the subway" Ana explained when Sofie cut her off " wait, what? I told you not to move far from the house, and you went to an alley?" "Cat said it was a shortcut, so we followed that path"
"Really? Do you know what happens in alleys? It's dangerous there" Sofie said
"Do I know what happens?" Ana asks being annoyed
"I've spent 16 years of my life locked up in the country side mom, all thanks to you." "So I will not know anything about the city, I will not know alleys are dangerous or I could have friends or that weird ppl with superpowers are lingering in the alleyway " blurting words out she didn't realize she had almost exposed what happened in the alley
"What do you mean?" Sofie asked understanding the depth of this little stroll with Cat "what do you mean Ana?
"Nothing mom, I meant nothing " Ana lied not wanting to worry her mother
"Anastasia McKay! You will not lie to me" Sofie demanded
"I'm not lying mom, and I'm very tired I gotta rest" saying this Ana walked toward her room door.
"You know you can tell me anything, right honey? You don't have to hide things from me" Sofie said in plea
"I know mom. But I'm serious, I gotta rest" she entered and shut her room door
Laying on the bed she kept thinking about the weird guy from the alley
' You smell of death...fresh death '
"What did he mean be that?" Ana asked herself, using that to go to sleep
In the middle of the night she wakes up thirsty, luckily there was water beside her. But it didn't quench her thirst, it dried her up even more. She goes out to get milk, and sees her mom walking towards the door, a door she remembers
"Mom? What are you doing?" Ana asked
"Where are you going mom?" She called following her closely
' You smell of death...fresh death' Sofie said
"Huh? How?" Ana asked completely oblivious to how her mom said those words
"It's the truth, a truth that you will know of soon" Sofie continued
"What are you talking about?" Ana asked as Sofie walked into the corridor behind the door with Ana following through closely
But still somehow she lost her mom in the shadows, and again hears the snarls then sees the same crimson eyes. "Wha...what are you?" She managed to muster the courage to ask it
And with her voice it answers
"I am you"
"What do you mean? How can you even talk? With my voice" Ana now terrified asked
"I am you and You are me. We are the same"
"You're not making me understand. What do you mean?" Ana yelled but before she could finish it pounced on her
She wakes up to the morning, panting in a daze
"Again?
"What's wrong with me?"
