Chapter 1 - A young curse.

There was once a young lady in 2001 Japan, although she was the ripe age of 15 she looked as though she was a mature woman around 18. Her name was Mei Takahashi, a fair lady with soft ocean eyes and wavy, blonde, short hair like gold that rest slightly over her shoulders. A cotton red ribbon tied to the side. Cursed, forgotten and abandoned by her parents she was left alone with only her closest suitor Arata.

Her curse was not the usual tragedy, it wasn't immortality nor was it a short lifespan. It was that everytime she got extremely close to and loved a person they would forget her overtime until she was completely erased from their memory. So after she had finally been erased from her parents memories at the age of only 7 she was left to face her curse alone. Sooner or later, Arata would forget her too. It was only a matter of time.

"My lady, you should go on a walk. It's nice and sunny out you might enjoy i-"

"Go away. I'm not going out. I told you, don't make me repeat myself."

Arata's face fell and with a sigh he nodded and made his way out.

"As you wish my lady. Please, at least eat."

Mei didn't respond, and Arata took it as a ' i'll think about it ' which was good enough for him. The room was silent again, the only sound the small tweets of birds and the wind blowing through the grass. She opened her eyes, it truly was boring inside here. Nothing to do, no one to talk to. Mei stood up and walked over to her bed. She bent down and took her sandals out from under the bed, she tied her hair with the ribbon and then untucked her medium sized dress from her shorts. Sliding the window open, she felt the warm summer breeze on her face and through her hair, she jumped out from the second floor of the modern Japanese estate and shoved her hands in her short pockets.

Looking around, there was barley anyone in her neighborhood. Good. She liked it like this, people are simply not her thing. She noticed a few squirrels running up and down a tree collecting nuts. It was somewhat amusing. She'd never hated animals. They didn't talk or have opinions, they go by instinct. She picks up an acorn and crouches down holding it to the squirrels. She had once had a pet herself, though she'd never called it that, a black, male cat with eyes as green as emerald's and fur as soft as clouds. He was incredibly smart and calm, but was killed when protecting her from an aggressive boy back when she was 4. It broke her heart. Animals don't forget her, only humans do. She locked herself in her room for days, her parents would always check on her and in the end her mother was the one who helped her out her misery.

One particularly brave and curious squirrel approaches her and sniffed her hand. It then took the acorn and looked at her for approval. Mei wasn't able to hold back a small smile. She stood up and took a few steps back leaving them be. After that, she continued her walk across the fields. Once she was in town, the sound of people and the smell of food filled the air, the usual. Unfortunately she wasn't as Invisible as she would've liked and she caught her name in a couple of whispers and a few looks from people. This is normal, another reason she hated going out. Stupid rumours like, she's wearing a young ladies face to cover her demonic form and if you rub her the wrong way she'll cut you up and feed you to her demon friends. They were utterly ridiculous she thought.

After walking for a bit, the sun began to set and the sky was a fiery mix of yellow red and orange. She walked back, her pace was slow and peaceful despite the fact she was slightly irritated. Suddenly a voice filled her ears.

"My, my if it isn't the demon princess~ Knowing you're hate for humans, it was truly a surprise to see you out and about."

Her brow twitches in further irritation.

"Show yourself, I'm not in the mood for games"

Her tone was almost commanding and her irration was clearly shown on her face but her body language stayed relaxed.

"Impatient are we? Well, that's perfectly fine considering you have only a few minutes left to live. I suggest you choose you're words carefully. Wouldn't want to give you a more painful death than i already have planned"

Her eyes snap open, she laughed bitterly.

"Ha...hahah! You're hilarious! Kill me? That's the best joke I've heard in ages! I'd love to see you try."

"Confidence can lead to a fate worse than death you know, but clearly you're just arrogant."

"Arrogant is better than stupid if you ask me. Now are you going to continue playing hide and seek or are you going to come out? Either way you won't be able to touch me."

A tut could be heard and a sudden flash of strong energy hit like a punch in the gut. She covered her view of it with her arms for it was blinding. It didn't truly matter if it hit her or not, though she preferred if it didn't. Her eyes remained closed for a moment, but she felt nothing touch her. The sound of the energy was still present.

"Wha- "

As she looked up, the silhouette of a person stood Infront of her, their long silk hair flowing through the wind as the energy was suppressed easily and finally with a loud snap then energy was sucked into their palm and the air calmed. Silence filled the atmosphere.

"What the hell!?"

She looks over to see the boy with light black hair and orange eyes standing a few feet away looking both confused, shocked and angry.

"You had a spirit ally with you this whole time? That's why you were so confident. I should've expected this"

"What? Spirit ally, I don't have such a thing."

She said in defence.

"Lying won't get you anywhere when I see it standing right Infront of you!"

"Wait that's a spirit?"

"What else do you think can absorb a blast like that?"

She paused, this spirit isn't her's yet it makes sense to think so. It protected her, but why? She fixed the ribbon in her hair which had gotten loose for the wind pressure.

"Well, be prepared because next time you won't win."

"If you'll even live till 'next time's that is"

She places her hands on her hips and grins slightly. The boy grits his teeth.

"I'm Kenji Saito, remember that Takahashi! Because it's the name of your soon to be killer."

With that he disappears. She tuts.

"Pft. Please, killer? What a load of crap."
